§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CD2T86G2H-4L is

The Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2H-4I is an 8 MP AcuSense bullet built for long-range outdoor coverage with strong low-light performance.

A large 1/1.8" sensor with a bright F1.0 lens captures sharp 8 MP (3840 x 2160) images, and 120 dB true Wide Dynamic Range balances bright and shaded areas in the same frame, such as a sunlit car park against a covered entry.

DarkFighter is about low light rather than zero light: it holds detail and reduces noise as the light fades, keeping a usable image where a basic camera would struggle.

In full darkness the camera uses infrared up to 80 m, so the night image is black and white, which makes it well suited to deep car parks, boundaries and corridors.

This is an infrared AcuSense camera rather than a full-colour-at-night ColorVu model.

AcuSense deep learning runs on the camera, classifying people and vehicles and triggering perimeter rules such as line crossing and intrusion only on those targets, which cuts the false alarms that branches, rain and animals cause.

H.265+ compression keeps the 8 MP stream efficient on bandwidth and storage.

This is the -4I variant, with infrared to 80 m for long reach; the -2I variant reaches 60 m for shorter areas.

It is a metal bullet rated IP67 against dust and water, with a fixed 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens and a microSD slot up to 512 GB.

It runs on PoE (802.3af) or 12 VDC.

Record it to a Hikvision AcuSense NVR so the people and vehicle events stay quick to search.

What the DS-2CD2T86G2H-4L features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

8MP Ultra HD

8MP (4K) resolution captures four times the detail of 1080p.
Even when a person or car is far down the driveway, you can zoom in and still recognise a face or read a number plate — detail that lower-resolution cameras lose.

60m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared sees in total darkness up to around 60m, covering long driveways and large properties. Even well away from the house, people and vehicles remain clear in black-and-white.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CD2T86G2H-4L

Long-range night vision

Infrared up to 80 m covers deep car parks, boundaries and corridors after dark.

Strong in low light

DarkFighter imaging holds detail and reduces noise as the light fades.

Fewer false alarms

AcuSense classifies people and vehicles, so alerts come from real targets, not weather and animals.

Efficient on storage

H.265+ compression keeps the 8 MP stream light on bandwidth and recorder space.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Car parks and boundaries

Cover a deep car park or fence line with 80 m infrared and people and vehicle filtering.

Driveways and approaches

Watch a long approach with detailed 8 MP footage and dependable night vision.

Warehouses and yards

Cover loading and storage areas where long IR reach and a tough body are needed.

Corridors and laneways

Run a narrow view down a corridor or laneway with clear detail at distance.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DS-2CD2T86G2H-4I bullet camera with a mounting template, fixings and a quick guide. The PoE switch or NVR, network cable, microSD card and any junction box are supplied separately.

02

Installation requirements

Mount it on a wall, eave or pole aimed along the area to cover, and run one network cable back to a PoE (802.3af) switch or NVR, or use 12 VDC. Set the AcuSense rules in the software and record it to a Hikvision AcuSense NVR. Aim it so the 80 m infrared is not pointed straight at a near wall or reflective surface that would bounce light back at night.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CD2T86G2H-4L

Q.01

Does the DS-2CD2T86G2H-4I record in colour at night?

No. It uses DarkFighter low-light imaging to hold detail as the light fades, but in full darkness it switches to infrared up to 80 m, so the night image is black and white. It is an infrared AcuSense camera rather than a full-colour-at-night ColorVu model, which keeps it sharp and dependable over long distances in the dark.
Q.02

What does DarkFighter do?

DarkFighter is a low-light technology: it improves sensitivity and reduces noise so the camera holds a usable, detailed image in dim conditions where a basic camera would go grainy. It does not make the camera full-colour in total darkness; the night image still uses infrared.
Q.03

What is the difference between the -4I and -2I versions?

They share the same camera, but the -4I has infrared up to 80 m for long reach and the -2I reaches 60 m. Choose the -4I for deep car parks, boundaries and long corridors, and the -2I for shorter driveways and yards.
Q.04

How does AcuSense cut false alarms?

AcuSense classifies people and vehicles, so perimeter rules such as line crossing and intrusion alarm only on those targets. Moving branches, rain and animals are far less likely to trigger an alert than on a basic motion camera.
Q.05

Which lens should I choose, 2.8 mm or 4 mm?

The 2.8 mm gives a wide view for open areas and car parks, and the 4 mm gives a narrower view with more detail and depth for entrances and longer ranges. The lens is fixed, so choose it to match the area you want to cover.
Q.06

Does it have a microphone?

No. This model has no built-in microphone or speaker, so it captures video only. If you need audio or active deterrence, choose a model that lists a microphone, speaker or strobe.
Q.07

What power and recorder does it need?

It runs on PoE (802.3af) over one network cable, or on 12 VDC. Record it to a Hikvision AcuSense NVR so the people and vehicle events are stored and searchable; standard PoE is enough for this model.
Q.08

Is it suitable for outdoors in Australia?

Yes. It has an IP67 metal housing against dust and water and a wide operating temperature range, so it suits exposed walls, poles and car parks through heat, dust and rain.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record and review it

Feed it to a Hikvision AcuSense recorder such as the 8-channel DS-7608NI-M2/8P, or the 16-channel DS-7616NI-M2/16P for larger sites. Add a surveillance-grade drive like the 8 TB for weeks of continuous footage.

02

Power it over one cable

Run a single network cable per camera from a PoE source. The HiLook 8-port PoE switch feeds several cameras and the recorder, keeping the cabling tidy on multi-camera sites.

03

Mount it cleanly

A DS-1260ZJ junction box tidies the cabling and screw runs behind the bullet and gives a neat finish on a wall or eave.
