§ 01Overview

What the DS-2XS6A46G1/P-IZS/C36S80 is

The Hikvision DS-2XS6A46G1/P-IZS/C36S80 is a 4 MP solar-powered bullet camera with 4G mobile connectivity and number-plate recognition, made for places that have no mains power and no wired network.

It is supplied as a self-contained package with an 80 W solar panel and a 360 Wh rechargeable lithium battery, so the camera charges by day, runs through the night on the battery, and sends its video over the 4G mobile network rather than a cable.

That makes it suited to farms, private roads, building sites, gates and other remote or temporary locations.

The camera itself is a capable 4 MP unit recording 2560 x 1440 through a motorised varifocal lens, so you can set the field of view remotely between a wide scene and a tighter shot.

Its deep-learning analytics include ANPR, automatic number-plate recognition, with a vehicle allow-and-block list, alongside human and vehicle smart detection, and a 120 dB wide dynamic range helps it cope with strong backlight such as a bright entrance.

An intelligent battery-management system handles charging, temperature protection and a low-power sleep mode to make the most of the stored energy.

The IP66 housing stands up to dust and rain outdoors.

A few honest notes so expectations are right.

This is a 4G camera, so it needs a Micro SIM card with a suitable mobile data plan, which is not included, and useful coverage depends on a workable mobile signal at the site.

Because it runs on solar and battery, run-time through a long run of overcast days is weather-dependent, so it is sized for typical conditions rather than unlimited cloudy-day recording.

Number-plate recognition works best when plates are reasonably square-on to the lens, well lit and within the set distance, so the camera should be positioned and zoomed for the lane or gate you want to read.

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

4MP Ultra HD

4MP captures roughly twice the detail of standard 1080p.

50m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared sees in total darkness up to around 50m — good for longer driveways, car parks and wider properties. People and vehicles stay visible well beyond the reach of a porch light.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2XS6A46G1/P-IZS/C36S80

Runs with no power or cabling

An 80 W solar panel, 360 Wh battery and 4G connectivity let the camera work where there is no mains power and no network cable.

Reads number plates

Deep-learning ANPR with a vehicle allow-and-block list logs and flags plates at gates, lanes and entries.

Frame the view remotely

A motorised varifocal lens lets you set the field of view in software, handy on a remote pole you do not want to climb.

Built for the outdoors

An IP66 housing and intelligent battery management handle dust, rain and temperature swings at exposed sites.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Farms and rural property

Watch gates, tracks and sheds far from the house with no cabling and number-plate logging at the entrance.

Private and rural roads

Record and read vehicles entering a private road or laneway where there is no power or network.

Construction and remote sites

Deploy quickly at a site with no infrastructure and move the camera as the job changes.

Temporary monitoring

Cover events, roadworks or short-term traffic control where a permanent install is not practical.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

The DS-2XS6A46G1/P-IZS/C36S80 camera, the 80 W solar panel, the 360 Wh battery unit and mounting hardware. You supply a Micro SIM with a data plan.

02

Mount the panel for sun

Fix the solar panel where it gets strong, unshaded sun through most of the day, angled for your location, and keep it clear of trees, eaves and dirt so it charges well.

03

Fit the camera and SIM

Mount the camera on a wall or pole aimed at the gate, lane or area you want, insert the Micro SIM, and set the motorised lens zoom and focus for the view and any number-plate lane.

04

Set up and test

Add the camera in the Hik-Connect app over 4G, set the human, vehicle and number-plate rules and any vehicle list, then check the live view, alerts and battery level before leaving the site.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2XS6A46G1/P-IZS/C36S80

Q.01

Does this camera need mains power or a network cable?

No. It is built for off-grid sites, running from the included 80 W solar panel and 360 Wh battery and sending video over the 4G mobile network. That means no mains power run and no Ethernet cable to the camera, which is what makes it suited to farms, private roads, gates and building sites.
Q.02

Do I need a SIM card, and is one included?

You need a Micro SIM with a mobile data plan, and it is not included. The camera uses 4G to send its video and alerts, so it relies on a workable mobile signal at the site and an active data plan. Check coverage at the mounting point and allow for the data your viewing and recording will use.
Q.03

What does the ANPR feature do?

ANPR is automatic number-plate recognition. The camera uses deep learning to read vehicle number plates and can hold an allow-and-block list of vehicles, so it can log plates passing a gate or lane and flag ones on your list. It works best when plates are reasonably square-on, well lit and within the set distance, so position and zoom the camera for the lane you want to read.
Q.04

How long does the battery last through cloudy weather?

The 80 W panel recharges the 360 Wh battery whenever there is daylight, and the camera runs from the battery overnight. Run-time through a long stretch of overcast days is weather-dependent, so the system is sized for typical conditions with a battery-management system that uses temperature protection and a low-power sleep mode to stretch the stored energy.
Q.05

Can I adjust the zoom and view remotely?

Yes. The camera has a motorised varifocal lens, so you set the field of view in software rather than at the camera, dialling it between a wide scene and a tighter shot on a gate or lane. That is useful on a remote pole where you do not want to climb back up to adjust the lens.
Q.06

Does it detect people as well as vehicles?

Yes. Alongside number-plate recognition, the camera includes human and vehicle smart detection, so it can flag people and vehicles entering the scene. This helps keep alerts focused on what matters at a remote or unattended site rather than every movement.
Q.07

Is it suitable for permanent outdoor installation?

Yes. The housing is IP66 rated against dust and rain, so it suits permanent outdoor mounting as well as temporary deployments. As with any solar camera, place the panel where it gets good sun through the day and keep it clear of shade and dirt to maintain charging.
Q.08

Where is this camera most useful?

It suits locations without power or network: farm gates and tracks, private and rural roads, construction and remote sites, car park entries and temporary monitoring such as events or roadworks. Anywhere you need a number plate or activity logged but cannot easily run a cable, the solar and 4G design does the job.
