Dahua DH-ARD2251E-W2, Wireless External Triple-Tech Detector

The Dahua DH-ARD2251E-W2 is an outdoor detector that earns its place by cutting false alarms, the constant frustration of any sensor mounted outside.

It uses three technologies together — a PIR that senses body heat, a microwave radar that senses movement, and an optical channel with intelligent algorithms — and only alarms when they agree, so wind, rain, drifting leaves, sunlight and small animals are far less likely to set it off.

It detects a person out to 15 metres across a 90° field at a 1 m mounting height, with three sensitivity levels to tune for the site.

What sets it apart is the built-in camera.

When the detector alarms it captures a short verification image, so you can look at your phone and tell a genuine prowler from a false trip before you call anyone or head outside — a real advantage for perimeter and garden protection where outdoor sensors are usually a nuisance.

It carries pet immunity to around 40 kg under 80 cm, anti-masking that flags any attempt to cover the lens, a tamper alarm, temperature compensation for stable detection across the seasons, and resistance to bright light up to 10,000 lux.

An infrared illuminator lets the verification camera see up to 15 m in the dark.

Practical notes worth knowing.

It is weatherproof to IP66 and rated for -25 to +60 C, mounts on a wall or pole at 0.8–1.3 m, and runs on four CR123A cells — roughly five years without the camera or about 3.5 years with regular camera use.

The radio link is 868 MHz two-way with AES128 encryption and frequency hopping, reaching up to 1,600 m in open space.

Two honest points: the camera is for alarm video verification, not continuous monitoring, so it does not record to an NVR; and this detector works only with the ARC3800H AirShield Hub 2 — not the ARC3000H hub or the ARA43 repeater.
