§ 01Overview

What the VIGI SP9030 is

The TP-Link VIGI SP9030 is an intelligent solar power supply that lets you run a camera where there is no mains power and no network cable. It combines a 90 W solar panel, a 31.2 Ah / 10.8 V lithium battery (about 337 Wh) and an MPPT charge controller, and it is rated IP66 for permanent outdoor mounting.

The most important thing to understand is how it delivers power. The SP9030 has three 5.5 mm DC outputs of around 12 V at 2 A each - it supplies DC, not PoE. That is why it is matched with VIGI 4G cameras such as the C540-4G: the camera sends its video over the 4G mobile network and takes its power from the solar unit's DC output, so you need neither a power lead nor a data cable to the site. It will also run other 12 V DC gear like outdoor access points, wireless bridges and 4G routers. A standard PoE-only camera cannot be powered directly from it.

It is built for harsh, remote conditions. Intelligent auxiliary heating lets the lithium battery charge and discharge safely down to very low temperatures, with an operating range of -30 C to 60 C, and the manual bracket tilts in steps from 5 to 55 degrees so you can angle the panel for your latitude and season. On a typical single-4G-camera load the battery can carry the camera through roughly 10 consecutive rainy days, though real runtime depends on the device's power draw, the weather, the season and the panel angle. The RJ45 port and VIGI app let you check battery level, view load statistics and reboot remotely, which cuts down site visits. The SP9030 is the larger 90 W panel in the range; for a smaller load or sunnier site the SP6030 uses the same battery with a 60 W panel, and the SP18090 steps up again for bigger jobs. Genuine TP-Link VIGI stock with a local 3-year warranty.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the VIGI SP9030

True off-grid power

A 90 W panel and 31.2 Ah lithium battery run a 4G camera with no mains and no network cable to the site.

Built for 4G cameras

DC outputs power a VIGI C540-4G or S345-4G directly, while the camera streams over the mobile network.

Made for harsh sites

Intelligent battery heating and an IP66 rating keep it working from -30 C to 60 C, year round.

Less maintenance

MPPT charging, remote monitoring and the VIGI app mean fewer site visits and better solar harvest.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Farms and rural property

Watch gates, sheds and fence lines far from the house with a solar-powered 4G camera.

Construction and temporary sites

Drop in surveillance on a site with no power or network, then move it when the job ends.

Remote gates and driveways

Cover an entrance hundreds of metres from the nearest power point without trenching cable.

Infrastructure and utilities

Monitor pumps, tanks, towers and yards where running mains power is impractical.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One VIGI SP9030 solar power system (90 W panel, controller and 31.2 Ah lithium battery), a quick start guide, waterproof cable attachments and mounting accessories. The camera is not included.

02

Installation requirements

Mount the panel on a pole (80-120 mm) or wall in the sunniest, shade-free position you can, and set the manual tilt (5 to 55 degrees) for your latitude and season. Connect your VIGI 4G camera or other 12 V DC device to one of the three DC outputs - this unit supplies DC, not PoE. Activate the 4G camera's SIM and add the system to the VIGI app for remote battery and load monitoring. No mains power or network cabling to the site is required.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the VIGI SP9030

Q.01

Can the SP9030 power a normal PoE camera?

No. The SP9030 outputs DC through three 5.5 mm plugs of about 12 V, 2 A each, and it does not supply PoE. It is made to power DC devices, most commonly a VIGI 4G camera such as the C540-4G, which sends video over 4G and takes its power from the solar unit. A standard PoE-only camera cannot be run directly from it.
Q.02

Which camera should I use with it?

The recommended match is the VIGI C540-4G 4G pan-tilt camera, or the S345-4G 4G bullet. These work over the mobile network for video and take 12 V DC power from the SP9030, so you do not need mains power or a network cable to the site - which is the whole point of an off-grid solar setup.
Q.03

How long does it run without sun?

With a single 4G camera, the battery can carry the camera through roughly 10 consecutive rainy or overcast days. Heavier loads run for less - for example a wireless bridge plus a camera is closer to a couple of days. Real-world runtime depends on the device's power draw, the season, the weather and how well the panel is angled.
Q.04

What is the battery capacity - 30Ah or 31.2Ah?

The battery is a 31.2 Ah / 10.8 V lithium pack, which is about 337 Wh of storage. Some listings round this to 30 Ah, but the datasheet figure is 31.2 Ah. It is rated for more than 500 charge cycles and has intelligent heating for cold conditions.
Q.05

Does it work in cold weather?

Yes. Intelligent auxiliary heating lets the lithium battery charge and discharge safely in low temperatures, giving a full operating range of -30 C to 60 C. This matters in cold inland and alpine parts of Australia where a standard lithium battery would struggle to charge.
Q.06

Is it weatherproof for permanent outdoor use?

Yes. The system is IP66-rated, so the panel, controller and battery enclosure are built to resist dust, rain and wind-driven spray for permanent outdoor mounting on a pole or wall.
Q.07

Can I monitor it remotely?

Yes. It has a 10/100 RJ45 port and works with the VIGI app, so you can check the battery level, view power-consumption statistics, receive alerts and reboot the system remotely instead of driving out to the site.
Q.08

What is the difference between the SP9030 and the SP6030?

Both use the same 31.2 Ah lithium battery and the same DC outputs. The SP9030 has a larger 90 W panel that harvests more energy each day, so it suits a higher load or a less sunny site. The SP6030 has a 60 W panel and is a smaller, lighter option for lighter loads or sunnier locations.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Add the recommended camera

Pair the SP9030 with the VIGI C540-4G 4G pan-tilt camera - 4G for video, solar for power, no cabling.

02

Prefer a fixed bullet?

The VIGI S345-4G 4G bullet is the other off-grid match for this solar system.

03

Different size?

For a lighter load step down to the SP6030 60 W system, or up to the SP18090 for bigger jobs.
