§ 01Overview

What the DS-UPS2000 is

The Hikvision DS-UPS2000 is a line-interactive uninterruptible power supply rated at 2000 VA / 1200 W, designed to keep important equipment online when the mains power dips or drops out.

When the power fails it switches to its internal batteries in under 10 milliseconds, fast enough that connected devices keep running without rebooting.

Built-in automatic voltage regulation (AVR) corrects an unstable supply, accepting a wide 140 to 290 VAC input and delivering a steady 210 to 235 VAC output, which protects sensitive electronics from brownouts and over-voltage without constantly draining the batteries.

Full protection covers surge, overload, discharge and short circuit, and audible alarms signal charging, low battery, overload and fault conditions.

Four AU Type I outlets feed your equipment, an LCD shows input and output voltage, battery capacity and load level, and a USB port allows monitoring and safe automatic shutdown from a connected computer.

Power comes from two 12 V 9 Ah sealed lead-acid batteries, which recharge to 90% in 6 to 8 hours and are replaceable when they reach end of life.

Runtime depends on load - roughly 70 minutes at 100 W, 17 minutes at 300 W and 5 minutes at 600 W - so it is well matched to CCTV recorders, network switches, routers, VoIP and point-of-sale gear rather than heavy loads.

It measures 345 x 122 x 192 mm, weighs about 11 kg, and is genuine Australian stock with local warranty and support.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-UPS2000

Keeps security and IT online

With about 70 minutes at 100 W it rides through most short outages and gives time for a safe shutdown on longer ones, so your CCTV, network and point-of-sale gear stay protected.

Cleans up unstable mains

Built-in AVR holds a steady 210-235 V output across a wide 140-290 V input, protecting equipment from brownouts and over-voltage, not just blackouts.

See and manage it

An LCD shows voltage, battery and load at a glance, while the USB port enables monitoring and automatic safe shutdown from a connected computer.

Serviceable and well protected

Replaceable 12 V 9 Ah batteries and full surge, overload, discharge and short-circuit protection make it a practical, long-term back-up.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

CCTV recorders

Keep an NVR or DVR and the PoE switch feeding the cameras running through blackouts so you do not lose footage or have the recorder reboot.

Network and internet gear

Back up a modem, router and switch so the internet, Wi-Fi and remote access stay up during short outages.

Point-of-sale and small office

Protect POS terminals, a small server or NAS and phones so a business keeps trading and shuts down safely if the outage is long.

Voltage protection in rural areas

Use the AVR to steady an unstable or fluctuating rural supply that would otherwise stress sensitive electronics.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DS-UPS2000 UPS with its internal batteries and a USB cable. Monitoring software is downloaded from the manufacturer; the equipment you protect is not included.

02

Installation requirements

Place the UPS on a firm, ventilated surface, plug it into a properly earthed wall socket and let it charge before relying on it. Connect your equipment to the four AU outlets, keeping the total within 1200 W, and connect the USB cable to a computer if you want monitoring and automatic shutdown. Check the LCD shows normal input/output voltage and a healthy battery, and test by briefly removing mains power. Replace the lead-acid batteries when capacity drops at end of life.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-UPS2000

Q.01

What can the DS-UPS2000 run and for how long?

It is rated at 2000 VA / 1200 W, and runtime depends on the load. As a guide it runs about 70 minutes at 100 W, around 17 minutes at 300 W and about 5 minutes at 600 W. It is well suited to CCTV recorders, network switches, routers, VoIP phones and point-of-sale equipment rather than high-power appliances.
Q.02

Is it a true online (double-conversion) UPS?

No. It is a line-interactive UPS with automatic voltage regulation, which is the right type for CCTV, networking and IT loads. It switches to battery in under 10 milliseconds on power loss and uses a PWM (stepped) output waveform rather than a pure sine wave, so it is not intended for sensitive medical or audio equipment that specifically needs pure sine.
Q.03

Can I replace the batteries?

Yes. It uses two standard 12 V 9 Ah sealed lead-acid batteries, which are a consumable that can be replaced when they reach end of life, typically after a few years. They recharge to about 90% capacity in 6 to 8 hours.
Q.04

How many devices can I plug in?

It has four AU Type I outlets, so you can connect several devices such as an NVR, a monitor, a network switch and a router, as long as their combined draw stays within the 1200 W rating.
Q.05

Does it protect against surges and unstable power?

Yes. It includes surge, overload, discharge and short-circuit protection, and its AVR holds the output voltage steady across a wide 140-290 VAC input, which guards connected equipment against brownouts and over-voltage as well as outages.
Q.06

Can it shut my system down safely and show its status?

Yes. A USB port lets connected computer software monitor the UPS and shut the system down safely if a long outage drains the battery, and the front LCD shows input and output voltage, battery capacity and the current load level at a glance.
Q.07

Will it keep my CCTV cameras recording during a blackout?

It keeps whatever you plug into it powered, so connect your NVR or DVR and the network switch that powers the cameras. PoE cameras stay online as long as that switch is on the UPS and within its runtime; plan the load so the system lasts long enough for your needs.
