§ 01Overview

What the DHI-NVR616H-64-AI/ANZ is

The Dahua DHI-NVR616H-64-AI/ANZ is a 3U enterprise WizMind network video recorder for large Australian sites such as transport hubs, campuses, industrial parks and retail complexes.

It records up to 64 IP cameras and carries deep-learning analytics on the recorder itself, so smart search and detection work even with cameras that do not do their own analysis.

AcuPick search runs across up to 64 channels to locate a target across massive amounts of footage.

The recorder runs 8-channel face detection and recognition (up to 40 databases and 300,000 images), 32-channel perimeter protection and 32-channel SMD Plus, with metadata, ANPR, heat maps and people counting available through compatible cameras.

Incoming bandwidth is up to 1280 Mbps with AI off, and a still-substantial 640 Mbps with the recorder-side AI engines enabled.

Sixteen drive bays in a drawer-style chassis accept hot-swap SATA disks up to 20TB each, with RAID 0/1/5/6/10, iSCSI and N+M clustering for high availability.

Four HDMI outputs (HDMI3 up to 8K) and two VGA drive a multi-screen control room, and 2.5-gigabit network ports keep up with heavy camera loads.

It has no built-in PoE, so cameras run from separate switches.

This is a made-to-order unit (allow a lead time) and is supplied without hard drives.

§ 02Engineering

DHI-NVR616H-64-AI/ANZ specifications

- Records up to 64 IP cameras at resolutions up to 32MP, with up to 1280 Mbps incoming bandwidth (640 Mbps with recorder-side AI enabled) and Smart H.265+ compression.

- AcuPick search across up to 64 channels locates a person or vehicle quickly across large volumes of footage.

- Recorder-side AI: 8-channel face detection and recognition (up to 40 databases, 300,000 images), 32-channel perimeter protection and 32-channel SMD Plus, plus 8-channel video metadata.

- Camera-side analytics add ANPR (license plate database up to 20,000), stereo analysis, heat maps, people counting and PPE detection.

- Sixteen hot-swap SATA bays up to 20TB each in a drawer-style chassis, with RAID 0/1/5/6/10, iSCSI and N+M clustering for high availability.

- Four HDMI outputs (HDMI3 up to 8K) plus two VGA, 32/16 alarm I/O, and four 2.5-gigabit network ports; no built-in PoE; supplied without hard drives.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DHI-NVR616H-64-AI/ANZ

AcuPick search on 64 channels

AcuPick uses front-end and recorder intelligence to find a target across huge volumes of video, so investigators skip the timeline scrubbing on a large site.

Enterprise face recognition

The recorder runs 8-channel face detection and recognition with up to 40 databases and 300,000 images, well beyond entry NVRs.

Sixteen hot-swap bays with RAID

Up to 20TB per bay with RAID 0/1/5/6/10 and N+M clustering means large capacity that survives a single drive failure, with swaps that need no downtime.

Honest bandwidth with AI on

Up to 1280 Mbps with AI off, and a clearly stated 640 Mbps with recorder-side AI enabled, so you can plan camera loads accurately.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Transport hubs and stadiums

AI-powered perimeter security with crowd analytics, heat maps and people counting across large public areas.

Campuses and government

Multi-building surveillance with watch-list face recognition, redundant storage and centralised control.

Industrial parks and logistics

ANPR for access control, metadata-driven vehicle searches and clustered high-availability recording.

Retail complexes and malls

Face recognition for loitering or VIP detection plus metadata search for customer behaviour.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

DHI-NVR616H-64-AI/ANZ recorder, power cable, mouse and rack-mount hardware. Hard drives are not included, and this is a made-to-order unit so allow a lead time.

02

Powering cameras

This recorder has no built-in PoE. Power the camera fleet from separate switches sized to a large system, then add cameras over the 2.5-gigabit network ports.

03

Storage, RAID and clustering

Fit up to sixteen surveillance or enterprise SATA drives (up to 20TB each), then configure RAID 0/1/5/6/10, iSCSI or N+M clustering from the storage menu.

04

AI setup

Build face databases (up to 40), enable perimeter protection and SMD Plus, and configure AcuPick for fast cross-channel search.
