The Dahua DH-IPC-HFW4230MP-4G-AS-I2 is a 2MP bullet that connects over the 4G mobile network instead of a wired internet connection, so it can be deployed where there is no NBN, no Wi-Fi and no network cabling.

With a SIM card and a mobile data plan it streams and sends alerts over cellular, which makes it a practical choice for construction sites, farms, rural blocks, off-grid sheds and remote yards across Australia.

A 1/2.9-inch 2MP Starlight sensor holds colour detail in low light, and Smart IR reaches up to 40m for night coverage.

It records to a microSD card up to 256GB at the edge (the card is not included), and supports IVS tripwire and intrusion detection.

Because it is a 4G camera it is powered by 12V DC and does not use PoE, so it is commonly run from a solar power kit with a battery for a fully off-grid install.

It is supplied with a fixed 3.6mm lens, with a 6mm option, and the IP67 housing handles dust and rain.

It has IVS rule-based detection rather than SMD human and vehicle classification, and it does not have a built-in microphone, so it does not record on-site audio.

Fit a SIM and check coverage

Install a SIM card with an active data plan and confirm the carrier has solid 4G coverage at the exact site before committing to the position, as signal strength affects streaming reliability.

Provide 12V DC or solar power

This camera does not use PoE. Provide a 12V DC supply, or for an off-grid install pair it with a solar power kit and battery sized for the camera and the local sunlight.

Mount and fit a microSD card

Fix the bullet to a wall, post or bracket with a clear view of the area, and fit a microSD card up to 256GB for edge recording, as the card is not included.

Set IVS rules and remote viewing

Configure tripwire and intrusion zones and set up the Dahua app for remote viewing and alerts over the mobile network.

Yes. This is a 4G camera, so it needs a SIM card and an active mobile data plan to stream video and send alerts over the cellular network. No. This model does not have a built-in microphone, so it does not capture on-site audio. It has audio input and output terminals for connecting external audio devices if needed, but no microphone or speaker is built in.
