Dahua DHI-ARD912-W2 Wireless Water Leak Detector

SKU: DHI-ARD912-W2
Description

The Dahua DHI-ARD912-W2 is a wireless water-leak detector for the Dahua AirShield alarm system. Place it on the floor by a washing machine, dishwasher, hot-water unit or under a sink and it raises an alarm the moment water reaches its sensor, so you catch a leak before it does real damage. Sensitivity is adjustable to suit the spot, the casing is IPX5 water-resistant, and it links to your AirShield hub over an encrypted 868 MHz two-way connection. An AirShield hub is required and sold separately.

§ 01Overview

What the DHI-ARD912-W2 is

The Dahua DHI-ARD912-W2 watches for water where you do not want it. Set it on the floor near a washing machine, dishwasher, hot-water system, sink or a pipe run, and it raises an alarm the instant water bridges its sensor — early warning that turns a quiet leak into a phone notification before it soaks a floor or ceiling. Sensitivity is adjustable so you can tune it to the spot and keep nuisance triggers down.

It is quick to live with. There is no wiring — it mounts flat with screws or adhesive — and it links to the hub over 868 MHz two-way radio with AES128 encryption and frequency hopping at up to 1,200 m in open space. Beyond leaks it also reports the ambient temperature and can raise an overheat alarm, and a multi-status LED plus the DMSS app keep you across power, pairing and alarm state.

A few honest notes: the casing is IPX5 water-resistant so it copes with splashes and damp areas, but it is a leak sensor, not a submersible probe. It runs on a CR123A cell for around three years when it triggers about once a day, and like every AirShield device it needs a hub to work — it is the kind of accessory you add for property protection alongside intrusion detection. It is genuine Australian Dahua stock with local 3-year warranty and support.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DHI-ARD912-W2

Catches leaks early

Alarms the instant water reaches the sensor, turning a quiet leak into a phone alert before it damages floors or ceilings.

Tunable to the spot

Adjustable sensitivity keeps nuisance triggers down while still catching a genuine pool of water.

No wiring, easy to place

It mounts flat with screws or adhesive and runs on a battery, so it goes wherever the risk is.

More than a leak sensor

Ambient temperature reporting and an overheat alarm add a second layer of property protection.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Laundry and kitchen

Place it by a washing machine, dishwasher or under a sink where hoses and seals fail most often.

Hot-water and plant rooms

Watch a hot-water unit or pipe run, with the overheat alarm as a bonus in a warm space.

Bathrooms and basements

Catch overflow or seepage at the low point before it spreads through a floor.

Holiday homes and rentals

Get an early app alert about a leak at a property you are not living in day to day.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DHI-ARD912-W2 water-leak detector with a CR123A battery and screw / adhesive mounting. A Dahua AirShield hub is required and not included.

02

Installation requirements

Sit it flat on the floor at the lowest point near the risk, fix it with screws or the adhesive pad, and enrol it to your AirShield hub in the DMSS app. Set the sensitivity to suit the spot, then pour a little water to confirm it alarms and the signal to the hub is good before relying on it.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DHI-ARD912-W2

Q.01

Where should I put the ARD912-W2?

On the floor at the lowest point near anything that can leak — under a sink, beside a washing machine, dishwasher or hot-water unit, or along a pipe run. Water naturally flows to the low spot, so placing it there gives you the earliest warning.
Q.02

Does it work on its own?

No. It is a detector for the Dahua AirShield system and needs an AirShield hub. The hub receives the leak alarm and notifies you; on its own it has nothing to report to.
Q.03

How does it actually detect a leak?

It has a sensor on the base, and when water bridges the contacts it triggers an alarm immediately. Sensitivity is adjustable so you can set how much water it takes to alarm in a given spot.
Q.04

Will it false-alarm from humidity or a damp floor?

Adjustable sensitivity lets you tune it to the location so normal damp does not trip it while a genuine pool of water does. Placing it where water will collect rather than where it is merely humid also helps.
Q.05

Is it waterproof itself?

The casing is IPX5 water-resistant, so it shrugs off splashes and damp areas. It is a surface leak sensor, though, not a submersible probe, so it is meant to sit on the floor and detect water reaching it.
Q.06

How long does the battery last?

It runs on a single CR123A cell for around three years when it triggers about once a day, with a low-battery warning before it runs out. CR123A is a standard cell you can replace yourself.
Q.07

Does it do anything besides detect water?

Yes. It also reports the surrounding temperature and can raise an overheat alarm, which is useful near a hot-water unit or in a plant room as an extra warning.
Q.08

Is this genuine Australian Dahua stock?

Yes. It is the 868 MHz AirShield water-leak detector supplied as genuine Australian Dahua stock with local 3-year warranty and support, matching the AirShield hubs and peripherals sold here.
