§ 01Overview

What the AE-VC224T-IT is

The Hikvision AE-VC224T-IT is a mobile camera made for vehicles rather than fixed walls.

Its compact conch housing is shock-proof to cope with constant road vibration, and it uses a sealed 4-pin aviation connector - the standard for in-vehicle systems - to carry video, power and ground in one rugged plug.

IP68 ratings mean it withstands dust, water immersion and high-pressure washing, so it suits cabins, doorways, cargo areas and exterior mounting on buses, trucks and fleet vehicles.

It captures Full HD 1080p at 25 fps through a metal-bodied lens, and an infrared array keeps the picture clear in the dark inside a cabin or cargo hold.

The wide -40 °C to 75 °C operating range covers everything from a cold morning start to a sun-baked roof, and at just 230 g it is light enough for door pillars and tight mounts.

A few honest notes so you build the right system.

This is an analogue HD-TVI camera with a short-range infrared array, so it is designed to record to a compatible mobile DVR (MDVR) over its aviation cable rather than connect to an IP NVR, and it does not use PoE - it draws 9-16 VDC from the vehicle supply.

Its infrared suits the close confines of a vehicle interior rather than long-range outdoor distances.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the AE-VC224T-IT

Made for vehicles

A shock-proof conch housing and aviation connector are built for road vibration, not fixed walls.

Survives the worst weather

IP68 ratings withstand dust, immersion and pressure washing inside and outside the vehicle.

Clear footage day and night

Full HD 1080p with an infrared array keeps cabins and cargo areas covered in the dark.

Wide temperature range

Operates from -40 to 75 degrees C, from a freezing start to a sun-baked roof.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Buses and coaches

Cover entry doors, aisles and driver areas with a vibration-proof in-vehicle camera.

Trucks and fleet

Watch cabins, cargo holds and reversing views on heavy and light commercial vehicles.

Public and school transport

Add interior coverage where durability and weather sealing matter.

Service and utility vehicles

Monitor equipment areas and exterior views on work vehicles.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One AE-VC224T-IT mobile vehicle camera with its aviation connector and mounting hardware. The mobile DVR (MDVR), aviation extension cabling and vehicle power wiring are supplied separately.

02

Installation requirements

Mount it to a vehicle surface that can take its weight and seal the aviation cable run against water and vibration. Wire it to the vehicle's 9-16 VDC supply and connect the HD-TVI output to a compatible mobile DVR. It is an analogue camera, so it records to an MDVR over coax/aviation cabling rather than to a network NVR.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the AE-VC224T-IT

Q.01

What is the AE-VC224T-IT designed for?

It is a mobile in-vehicle camera for buses, trucks and fleet vehicles. Its shock-proof conch housing, aviation connector and IP68 rating are built for constant vibration and harsh weather, covering cabins, doorways, cargo areas and exterior mounting.
Q.02

How does it connect and record?

It outputs HD-TVI analogue video over a 4-pin aviation connector, so it is designed to plug into a compatible mobile DVR (MDVR) in the vehicle rather than into an IP NVR. Plan the matching aviation cabling and an MDVR for the number of cameras you run.
Q.03

How is it powered - does it use PoE?

No, it does not use PoE. It runs on the vehicle's 9-16 VDC supply through the aviation connector and draws a maximum of 2.5 W, so it can be wired into a standard 12 V or 24 V vehicle electrical system with the appropriate supply.
Q.04

How tough and weatherproof is it?

It is rated IP68, so it withstands dust, water immersion and high-pressure washing, and its conch housing is shock-proof for road vibration. It operates from -40 to 75 degrees C for cold starts and hot roofs.
Q.05

How far does the infrared reach?

It uses an infrared array suited to the close confines of a vehicle interior such as a cabin or cargo area, giving clear footage in the dark. It is not intended for long-range outdoor night distances.
Q.06

What resolution and lens does it have?

It captures Full HD 1080p (2 MP) at 25 fps. The lens is available in fixed focal lengths to suit different fields of view, mounted in a sealed metal body for durability.
Q.07

Can I mount it on the outside of a vehicle?

Yes. With its IP68 rating and shock-proof housing it is suitable for exterior mounting such as a rear or side view on a bus or truck, as well as interior positions, provided the aviation cable run is sealed and secured.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record it on a Turbo HD recorder

Its HD-TVI output can be recorded by a Hikvision Turbo HD recorder such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S DVR with the appropriate aviation-to-BNC adapter, or by a dedicated mobile DVR for in-vehicle systems.

02

Add storage

Fit a surveillance-grade hard drive in your recorder to keep continuous footage; choose the capacity to suit your retention needs.

03

Fixed-site cameras

For premises rather than vehicles, pair your system with a fixed outdoor camera such as the 8MP DS-2CE57U7T-VPITF Turbo HD dome.
