What the DS-2CD2H86G2-IZS is

This Hikvision 8 MP 8-channel kit is a four-camera turret system built around motorised zoom lenses, supplied ready to record.

It pairs four DS-2CD2H86G2-IZS AcuSense turret cameras with an eight-channel DS-7608NI-M2/8P PoE NVR and a 4 TB surveillance hard drive already fitted, so each camera connects on a single network cable and the recorder captures all four channels.

Because the recorder has eight channels and the kit uses four, there are four spare channels to add cameras as the property grows.

The motorised lenses set this kit apart.

Each camera has a 2.8–12 mm motorised varifocal lens, so you adjust the zoom and focus remotely in software rather than on a ladder, dialling each camera between a wide room view and a tight shot on a gate, doorway or driveway.

They are 8 MP (4K) for fine detail, use DarkFighter low-light imaging for cleaner pictures in dim light, and AcuSense deep learning classifies human and vehicle targets so alerts and searches ignore rain, shadows and animals, with a 120 dB wide dynamic range against bright backlight.

The metal housing is IP66 weatherproof and IK10 vandal-resistant for exposed, accessible positions.

A couple of honest notes so it is set up correctly.

At night these are infrared cameras with EXIR illumination reaching about 40 metres, so the picture is black and white, not full colour; DarkFighter improves low-light quality but this is not a white-light ColorVu kit.

The cameras provide audio and alarm input and output for connecting an external microphone or alarm devices; they are not supplied as a two-way intercom.

The 4 TB drive is included as standard, the recorder has dual hard-drive bays, and a second or larger drive can be fitted for longer retention.

In the box

Four DS-2CD2H86G2-IZS turret cameras, the DS-7608NI-M2/8P NVR with a 4 TB drive fitted, power supply and mounting accessories. Connect a monitor for local viewing.

Cabling

Run one network cable from each camera to a PoE port on the NVR. Standard Ethernet runs apply, and a PoE switch can extend reach or add ports for the spare channels.

Mounting

Fix each turret to a wall, eave or ceiling aimed over the area you want covered, within the roughly 40 metre infrared range, then set the rough angle by hand.

Setup

Connect the NVR to a screen and the network, add the cameras on the plug-and-play PoE ports, use the software to set each camera's zoom and focus, then set the AcuSense rules, recording schedule and remote viewing in the Hik-Connect app.

Not in the dark. They use DarkFighter low-light imaging for cleaner pictures in dim light, but at night they switch to EXIR infrared reaching about 40 metres, so the image is black and white. For full-colour footage all night you would choose a ColorVu kit with white-light cameras.

Do the cameras have audio?
These turrets provide audio and alarm input and output, so you can connect an external microphone or alarm devices to a camera, but they are not supplied as a built-in two-way intercom. If recording sound matters, add a line-in microphone, and confirm that recording audio is permitted for your site.

AcuSense uses on-camera deep learning to classify human and vehicle targets and ignore other movement such as rain, leaves or animals. The system alerts you to what matters, cuts false alarms, and lets you search recordings by human or vehicle events instead of scrubbing through hours of footage.
