Hikvision AX Hybrid Series DS-PDBG8-EG2 Wired Glass Break Detector, Omni Directional Microphone Sensor, 8M

SKU: DS-PDBG8-EG2
Description

The Hikvision DS-PDBG8-EG2 is a wired acoustic glass-break detector for AX Hybrid Pro and general hardwired alarm panels. Its omni-directional microphone listens for the two-stage sound of breaking glass - the impact and then the falling shards - and alarms the moment a window or glass door is smashed, before an intruder is even inside.

§ 01Overview

What the DS-PDBG8-EG2 is

The Hikvision DS-PDBG8-EG2 is a wired acoustic glass-break detector for AX Hybrid Pro and other hardwired alarm panels. Instead of waiting for movement inside the room, it listens for the distinctive sound signature of breaking glass and raises the alarm at the point of entry, so a smashed window or glass door is caught immediately.

A high-quality omni-directional microphone covers up to 8m across a 120° spread, with potentiometer-adjustable sensitivity so you can match it to the room. Its digital processing recognises a wide range of glass - float, plate, tempered, wired, laminated leaded and double glazing - from 2.4 to 6.4mm thick and pane sizes from 0.3 x 0.3m up to 3 x 3m.

Being wired, it gives a normally-closed alarm output with selectable end-of-line resistors (1K, 2K2, 4K7, 5K6, 6K8), so the panel can supervise the zone for cut or shorted wiring. It runs on a wide 9-16VDC with reverse-polarity protection and has a front tamper switch. Mount it indoors on a wall or ceiling facing the glass you want to protect. This is the wired model; a wireless DS-PDBG8-EG2-WB is available for hub-based AX PRO systems.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-PDBG8-EG2

Catches the break-in early

Alarms at the moment glass is smashed, at the point of entry, rather than waiting for movement inside the room.

Covers any glass

Recognises float, tempered, laminated, wired and double-glazed glass, so it suits modern and older windows alike.

Supervised wired zone

A normally-closed output with selectable EOL resistors lets the panel watch for cut or shorted cabling.

Wide-voltage and forgiving

9-16VDC with reverse-polarity protection makes for a tolerant, dependable wired install.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Shopfronts and showrooms

Protect large glass frontages and display windows where a smash-and-grab is the main risk.

Homes with large windows

Cover lounges, sunrooms and glass doors so a forced window is caught at entry.

Ground-floor offices

Guard street-level glazing and glass partitions out of hours.

Layered protection

Combine with motion detectors so the alarm catches both the break and any movement that follows.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Where to mount

Fix it indoors on a wall or ceiling within 8m of the glass, with a clear line of sound to the window. Avoid noisy plant rooms.

02

Set sensitivity

Adjust the potentiometer to match the distance to the glass for reliable detection without false triggers.

03

Wire to the panel

Connect the normally-closed output and tamper to a panel zone, fitting the selectable EOL resistor for your panel.

04

Power and test

Apply 9-16VDC, check the LED behaviour, then walk-test with a glass-break simulator before arming.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-PDBG8-EG2

Q.01

Is the DS-PDBG8-EG2 wired or wireless?

It is the wired version, connecting to a hardwired alarm panel by cable. For a wireless hub-based system, choose the DS-PDBG8-EG2-WB instead.
Q.02

Which panels does it work with?

It suits AX Hybrid Pro and other general wired alarm panels, using a normally-closed output and selectable EOL resistors for supervised zones.
Q.03

How does a glass-break detector work?

It uses an acoustic sensor that listens for the two-stage sound of breaking glass - the thud of impact and the higher sound of falling shards - and alarms when it hears both in the right pattern.
Q.04

How far from the window should I install it?

Within 8m of the glass you want to protect, with the sensor facing the window, and set the sensitivity to suit the distance. Walk-test by simulating a break.
Q.05

What glass types does it cover?

Float, plate, tempered, wired, laminated leaded and double-glazed glass from 2.4mm to 6.4mm thick, with pane sizes from 0.3 x 0.3m up to 3 x 3m.
Q.06

What voltage does it need?

A wide 9-16VDC with reverse-polarity protection, so it works with typical 12VDC panel auxiliary supplies and tolerates wiring variation.
Q.07

Does it have two-way audio?

No, it is purely a listening sensor. It detects the sound of breaking glass to trigger an alarm and does not have a microphone for talk-back or audio recording.
Q.08

Does it replace a motion detector?

No, it complements one. A glass-break detector alarms at the window the moment glass is smashed, while a motion detector catches movement once someone is inside - many sites use both.
