About Network Cameras

Browse the complete range of IP network cameras — professional-grade PoE security cameras from Hikvision, Dahua, HiLook, and TP-Link VIGI. Every camera here connects via standard Ethernet cable with Power over Ethernet (PoE), supports H.265+ compression for efficient storage, and includes on-board AI processing for human and vehicle detection. Available in turret, bullet, dome, and PTZ form factors from 4MP to 8MP 4K.

A network camera (IP camera) is fundamentally different from older analogue cameras: it transmits video digitally over your local network, supports higher resolutions, integrates AI analytics on the camera itself, and connects to mobile apps for remote viewing. PoE delivers both power and data through a single Ethernet cable — meaning each camera needs only one cable run back to the NVR (no separate power supplies, no electrician).

Browse by brand: Hikvision IP cameras, Dahua IP cameras, HiLook IP cameras, or TP-Link VIGI IP cameras. Or compare across all brands at all security cameras.

What's Included in Network Cameras

Network cameras available by brand:

Hikvision Network Cameras — AcuSense AI standard, ColorVu and Smart Hybrid Light variants
Dahua Network Cameras — WizSense AI, TiOC active deterrence variants
HiLook Network Cameras — Hikvision-compatible budget tier from approximately $80
TP-Link VIGI Network Cameras — networking-brand reliability with zero subscription

All current network cameras include: PoE single-cable install, AI human/vehicle detection, H.265+ compression, ONVIF compliance, mobile app remote access, and 3-year Australian warranty.

Comparing Network Cameras Models

Network Camera vs Analogue (HD-CVI / HD-TVI) Camera

Network (IP / PoE) cameras are the modern standard. Resolution up to 8MP 4K, AI detection on the camera, single Cat6 Ethernet cable per camera carries both power and video, mobile app remote access, ONVIF cross-vendor compatibility. Smarket carries network cameras exclusively.

Analogue HD cameras (HD-CVI, HD-TVI): legacy systems still installed on older properties. Use coaxial cable (one for video, separate one for power). Resolution typically capped at 4MP. No on-camera AI. Used when integrating with existing analogue DVR infrastructure — for new installations, IP network cameras are always the better choice.

For brand-level comparison across network cameras, see all security cameras.

Why Choose Network Cameras?

PoE Single-Cable Network Architecture
All cameras use Power over Ethernet — a single Cat6 Ethernet cable carries power, video, and data per camera. Run lengths up to 100m without signal degradation, no separate power supplies, no electrician. Simplifies installation and reduces total system cost compared to legacy analogue setups.

AI Built Into Every Current Camera
All current-generation network cameras at Smarket include on-board AI processing for human and vehicle detection. AcuSense (Hikvision/HiLook), WizSense (Dahua), and equivalents on TP-Link VIGI. Smart alerts are processed at the camera level — not the cloud — meaning zero subscription fees and no internet requirement for detection itself.

ONVIF Open Standard Compatibility
All cameras support the ONVIF protocol for cross-vendor interoperability. While Smarket recommends brand-matched NVR pairings for full AI feature support, ONVIF allows integration with third-party recording systems, video management software, and existing networks.

Common Questions about Network Cameras

What is a network camera and how does it differ from an analogue camera?

A network camera (also called an IP camera) transmits video digitally over your local network via Ethernet. Unlike older analogue cameras connected via coaxial cable, network cameras support much higher resolutions (up to 8MP 4K), include AI analytics on the camera itself, connect to mobile apps for remote viewing, and use Power over Ethernet for single-cable installation. New installations should always use IP network cameras unless integrating with an existing analogue system.

What is PoE and why does it matter?

PoE (Power over Ethernet) delivers both electrical power and data through a single Ethernet cable per camera. This means each camera needs only one cable run from the NVR — no separate power supply, no electrician work, no parallel cabling. PoE is rated for cable runs up to 100m without signal degradation and is the standard installation method for all professional network cameras at Smarket.

Do network cameras need internet to work?

No. Network cameras and NVRs operate over your local network even without internet. Recording and AI detection work entirely offline. Internet is only required for remote phone viewing through the brand's mobile app — at home you can view live streams via Wi-Fi or LAN even with the internet down.

Can I mix camera brands on one network?

Yes for basic ONVIF interoperability, but advanced AI features (AcuSense smart search, WizSense classification, TiOC active deterrence control) require brand-matched cameras and NVRs. Hikvision NVRs work fully with HiLook cameras (same ecosystem). For multi-brand setups, pair each camera with its matching NVR or accept basic ONVIF-only feature support.

Before you buy

What customers ask most before ordering from this range — and how we deliver.

See all FAQs →

Will these cameras work with my existing NVR?

Most of our Hikvision and Dahua cameras support ONVIF, so they'll work with many third-party NVRs for basic recording. However, AI features like AcuSense, WizSense and active deterrence only work fully when the camera and NVR are the same brand. If you're adding to an existing system, email us the NVR model and we'll confirm compatibility before you buy.

Can I mix different cameras on one NVR, or add more later?

Yes. You can mix 6MP and 8MP, or ColorVu and AcuSense, on the same NVR as long as the total bandwidth stays within the NVR's rating (we check this for every kit we sell). To add cameras later, just plug them into a spare PoE port on the NVR — no reconfiguration needed. This is why we suggest an 8-channel NVR even if you start with 4 cameras.

How long does delivery take?

Order before 2pm (Sydney time) on a business day and in-stock items are dispatched the same day. Most orders arrive within 1–4 business days Australia-wide; remote and regional areas can take a little longer. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order leaves the warehouse.

How much is shipping?

Standard shipping is free on all orders over $300 AUD, Australia-wide. Orders under $300 ship at a flat rate of $25, calculated at checkout. Tracking is included on every order.

What warranty do you offer?

All cameras, NVRs and DVRs come with a 3-year back-to-base manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Hard drives and accessories are covered as set out in our Warranty Policy.

What is your return policy?

You have 30 days from the day you receive your order to request a change-of-mind return. Items must be unopened, factory-sealed and in resalable condition. A 15% restocking fee applies and return postage is at your cost. Faulty or incorrectly supplied items are different: we cover the return shipping and refund or replace at no charge. Read the full Return & Refund Policy.

Is your Hikvision, Dahua, HiLook and TP-Link VIGI stock genuine Australian stock?

Yes, 100%. Every Hikvision, Dahua, HiLook and TP-Link VIGI product we sell is a genuine Australian-market model sourced through Australian supply chains — never grey imports. That means factory-sealed units, Australian-region firmware that works with the official apps out of the box, and a full 3-year local warranty.
