What the CSD-2001 is

The CSD-2001 is a big-gap surface-mount reed switch for openings where a standard contact would struggle. Its 50 mm operating gap is roughly double that of an ordinary mini reed, so it keeps reporting correctly even when a door does not close to the same spot every time, which is exactly the problem you get with roller doors and garage doors.

It is a wired, normally-closed SPST device: the epoxy-sealed reed sits in a slim white housing and the contact opens when the magnet moves beyond the gap, signalling the opening as breached. The epoxy seal helps it shrug off dust and moisture, and the compact 90 x 13 x 18 mm body mounts neatly on a frame or track. It wires straight into a detection zone on a hardwired or hybrid alarm panel.

An honest note: this is a wired reed switch, not a wireless sensor, so it needs a cable run back to the panel and does not pair to a wireless hub on its own. As with any reed, mounting on steel can shorten the effective gap, so walk-test the door once it is fitted. It is also available in brown to order.
