What the DS-PDP18-EG2 is

The Hikvision DS-PDP18-EG2 is a wired internal PIR (passive infrared) motion detector, part of Hikvision's AX Hybrid alarm range.

It is designed to sit discreetly in the corner of a room and cover up to 18 metres across an 85.9° field, picking up an intruder's body heat as they move through the protected area.

Inside, a dual-element infrared sensor works with a 3D Fresnel lens to focus the infrared signal precisely, which improves catch performance on a real target while reducing false alarms.

A dedicated creep zone covers the blind spot directly beneath the detector so an intruder cannot crawl under the beam, a sealed optical chamber keeps insects and stray light from causing nuisance trips, and Hikvision's IFT anti-interference circuitry holds the alarm threshold steady when there is electrical or electromagnetic noise nearby.

Sensitivity is selectable (High, Auto or Low) to suit the room.

This is a hardwired detector: it runs on 9-16 VDC (12 VDC standard) with reverse-polarity protection, and it offers selectable end-of-line resistor values (1K, 2K2, 4K7, 5K6 and 8K2 for the alarm, plus matching tamper values), so it wires neatly into Hikvision AX Hybrid panels and most other hardwired alarm controllers.

It mounts at 1.8 to 2.4 m on a wall or, with the optional bracket, a ceiling.

For homes with animals, an optional pet mask gives immunity to pets up to about 10 kg.

Installation requirements

Mount the detector in a room corner at 1.8 to 2.4 m, run the zone cable back to your alarm panel and set the end-of-line resistor value to match the panel. Connect 9-16 VDC power (reverse-polarity protected), choose the sensitivity setting for the room, and walk-test the coverage before arming. Fit the optional pet mask first if you have animals. Professional installation is recommended for hardwired alarm work.
