A PIR detector senses the body heat of a person moving across its field of view and tells the hub to raise an alarm, making it the core sensor for protecting the inside of a property when no one should be there.

It covers a wide 85.9 degree field up to 15m across 52 detection zones, with a detectable speed of 0.3 to 2m/s. SEC smart environmental control, 3D optics, digital temperature compensation, a 6500lux white-light filter, sealed optics and creep-zone protection keep detection accurate and cut false alarms. Three sensitivity modes - High, Auto and Pet - let you tune it to the room; the Pet mode ignores animals up to 30kg, so it must be selected if cats or dogs share the space, since the High mode does not offer pet immunity.

It links to the hub over Tri-X two-way wireless on 433MHz, rated up to 1.2km in open space, with AES-128 encryption and frequency hopping. A single CR123A battery lasts up to five years, and front and rear tamper switches report interference. It mounts indoors on a wall at 1.8 to 2.4m and works with the optional DS-PDB-IN-Wall and DS-PDB-IN-Ceiling brackets for the best angle. It pairs with a Hikvision AX PRO wireless hub such as the DS-PWA96-M-WB.
