§ 01Overview

What the QND-8080R is

The Hanwha QND-8080R is a 5MP indoor dome camera from the Wisenet Q series with a motorized 3.2mm to 10mm varifocal lens — mid-range indoor coverage with remote framing flexibility.

The 100° wide to 31° tight range lets one camera cover multiple room roles from a single install: wide reception area at 3.2mm, or focused counter shot at 10mm, adjustable over the network without ladder access.

The 1/2.8" CMOS sensor captures 2592x1944 at 30fps; minimum illumination reaches 0.015 Lux in B/W mode — near-total darkness capture before IR activation.

IR LEDs reach 20m for full-dark identification; 120dB WDR handles backlit windows and mixed lighting; WiseStream II reduces bandwidth consumption.

Video analytics include defocus, directional, motion detection, enter/exit, tampering and virtual line crossing.

Hallway view (90°/270° rotation) fits corridor coverage.

Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC edge storage up to 128GB; PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 3) power.

ONVIF Profile S/G/T integration.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the QND-8080R

Varifocal Framing at Q-Series Price

The 3.2-10mm motorized lens gives one camera the flexibility to cover multiple room roles — no physical lens swap needed. Getting this framing flexibility at Q-series price makes multi-camera deployments cheaper than upgrading to P series.

Near-Total Darkness Capture

At 0.015 Lux in B/W mode, this camera captures usable image at illumination levels most standard indoor domes fail. Before IR kicks in, the camera keeps recording — meaningful in venues with dim ambient lighting.

Standard PoE Runs Everything

IEEE 802.3af Class 3 is enough. Any standard PoE switch port powers the camera; no PoE+ upgrade required despite the motorized varifocal lens.

Directional and Enter/Exit Analytics

Beyond simple motion detection, this camera runs directional detection and enter/exit zone rules — useful for entry/exit event flagging in offices and retail without the AI-classification overhead of P series.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Office Reception & Foyer

Motorized varifocal lets one install cover different framings — wide for full reception, tight for the counter — adjusted from the security desk remotely.

Retail Store Interior

Ceiling-mounted 5MP dome with motorized varifocal — cover a wide aisle at 3.2mm or focus tight on till points at 10mm as security priorities shift.

Warehouse Aisle & Interior Bays

Warehouse interior aisles benefit from varifocal to adjust between wide overview and specific stock area detail without repositioning the camera.

Corridor & Long-Room Coverage

Hallway view (90°/270°) plus varifocal give clean corridor-facing coverage; tight framing catches distant end of corridor detail.

Retail Loss Prevention

Motorized varifocal + 5MP + directional detection = flexible loss-prevention monitoring where camera framing tightens on specific product areas during promotions.

Set focal length via motorized varifocal from the network (3.2-10mm). 4. Enable event rules (motion detection, directional, enter/exit, tampering) per site.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the QND-8080R

Q.01

What's the difference between this and the fixed-lens QND-8010R sibling?

The QND-8010R uses a fixed 2.8-millimetre lens covering 105° horizontal — install-and-forget for one room shape. This QND-8080R has a 3.2-10mm motorized varifocal lens, so one camera can cover different framings by remotely adjusting focal length after mount. Choose fixed for the simpler, cheaper install; choose varifocal when coverage requirements might change over time.
Q.02

How dark can this camera see?

Minimum illumination reaches 0.015 Lux in black-and-white mode — near-total darkness capture without needing IR activation. In colour mode the threshold is higher; IR LEDs then handle complete darkness scenarios up to 20m range.
Q.03

What analytics does this camera support?

Motion detection, defocus detection, tampering, directional detection, enter/exit zone rules, and virtual line crossing. Q series doesn't include AI object classification (Person/Face/Vehicle/License plate) — that's a P series feature.
Q.04

Does it need PoE+ for the motorized lens?

No. Standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 3) is sufficient — the motorized varifocal lens is designed for standard PoE draw. Any standard PoE switch port powers it.
Q.05

What VMS platforms does it integrate with?

ONVIF Profile S / G / T so it drops into any ONVIF-compatible VMS including Milestone, Genetec, and Hanwha's own Wisenet WAVE / SSM.
Q.06

Is 5MP resolution enough for a retail store?

For typical retail store interior coverage (till points, aisles, dressing room approaches, back-office access), 5MP is comfortably sufficient. For larger stores where the camera needs to cover 20+ feet with identifiable detail, consider a higher-resolution P series unit.
Q.07

How much storage does the microSD slot support?

The microSD/SDHC/SDXC slot supports cards up to 128GB. For continuous 5MP H.265 recording, expect roughly 5-7 days of retention on 128GB — sufficient for a network-drop fallback, not primary storage.
