§ 01Overview

What the PNO-A9081RLP is

The Hanwha PNO-A9081RLP is a 4K bullet camera purpose-built for licence plate recognition at low-to-moderate vehicle speeds, sitting in Hanwha's Wisenet P series LPR line.

It combines an 8MP (3840x2160) sensor with a 4.5mm to 10mm motorized varifocal lens, WiseIR to 30m, and the Wisenet Road AI engine — capturing readable plates on vehicles moving up to 45mph from distances up to 40 feet, day or night.

Beyond basic ANPR, Wisenet Road AI adds MMCR (Make, Model & Colour Recognition) trained on 100+ vehicle brands, 4700+ models, and 11 colour categories — every detected vehicle produces richer forensic metadata than a plate string alone.

A 32GB microSD card ships pre-installed, supporting local edge storage of over 10,000 LPR/vehicle images.

Integrates natively with Hanwha WAVE and Wisenet SSM; also supports Genetec and Milestone VMS through ONVIF Profile S/G/T.

IP66/IP67/IK10 outdoor housing, PoE+ (802.3at Class 4) power, extremeWDR (120dB) and DIS for gate-side, kerb-side and low-speed monitoring applications.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the PNO-A9081RLP

On-Camera LPR With No Extra Licence

Traditional ANPR deployments involve a separate licence-plate recognition server plus per-lane software licences. This camera runs Wisenet Road AI natively on the edge — no server, no per-lane licence, no VMS-side plate processing module.

MMCR Adds a Second Search Axis

Plate strings alone limit you to searching a specific licence plate. MMCR data (Make, Model, Colour) means when a plate is unreadable or partial, you can still search for 'blue Toyota HiAce' and narrow candidates. On real investigations that second axis is often the one that resolves the case.

Local Storage of LPR Events

The 32GB microSD ships pre-loaded and stores 10,000+ vehicle capture events. Even if the VMS or network drops, the last few days of LPR events remain accessible from the camera itself.

Suited to Australian Low-Speed Traffic Sites

The 45mph (72km/h) upper limit and 40ft (12m) capture range map cleanly to Australian scenarios: carpark entry lanes, gated community entrances, industrial yard gates, delivery bays, drive-through pickup lanes.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Carpark & Toll-Booth Entry Lanes

Purpose-designed for the low-to-moderate speeds of shopping-centre and airport-carpark entries; plate + colour data feeds directly into carpark management systems or barrier automation.

Gated Communities & Estate Entries

Match arriving plates against a resident whitelist for gate release, with MMCR as backup identification if the plate is dirty, temporarily obscured or misread.

Industrial Yard & Warehouse Gates

Log every truck arrival with plate + make/model — useful for logistics reconciliation, dispute resolution, and after-hours perimeter events.

Delivery Bay & Drive-Through Kerbs

Retail or food-service drive-through lanes benefit from LPR-triggered notifications; the 45mph limit safely covers all drive-through arrival speeds.

Municipal Small-Depot Access

Council depot and yard gates where NDAA-compliant procurement matters — LPR logging without a separate ANPR software stack simplifies the compliance path.

Installation & setup

What's in the Box

1. Hanwha PNO-A9081RLP Camera x 1 2. 32GB microSD card (pre-installed) x 1 3. Mounting Bracket & Fixings x 1 set 4. Quick Start Guide x 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Power: PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at, Class 4), 12VDC input. 2. Mounting geometry: aim for plate perpendicular to lens axis with tilt angle 5-30°; camera-to-plate distance up to 40 feet (12m). 3. Vehicle speed: capture-optimised for up to 45mph (72km/h); above that, plate blur will reduce OCR accuracy. 4. Storage: 32GB microSD included; expandable via second card slot for extended retention. 5. Network: ONVIF Profile S/G/T; integrates natively with Wisenet WAVE, SSM, Genetec and Milestone.

03

App & Setup

1. Discover with Wisenet Toolbox Plus; the setup wizard steps through camera + LPR configuration. 2. Set admin password on first login (brute-force prevention enforced). 3. Configure Wisenet Road AI: capture zone, direction, minimum plate size in pixels. 4. Optional: set up MMCR-based rule triggering (e.g., alert on unregistered make/colour at gated entrance).

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the PNO-A9081RLP

Q.01

What's the difference between LPR and MMCR on this camera?

LPR (Licence Plate Recognition) reads and stores the plate character string. MMCR (Make, Model, Colour Recognition) additionally identifies the vehicle's make, model, and colour from visual features. So each capture event stores 'ABC-123' AND 'blue Toyota HiAce' — two independent search axes for later investigation.
Q.02

What speed and distance can the camera handle?

Optimised for vehicles moving up to 45mph (approximately 72km/h) at up to 40 feet (approximately 12 metres) from the camera. Beyond either limit, plate OCR accuracy drops due to motion blur or insufficient pixel-per-plate density. Not suitable for highway/freeway speed enforcement.
Q.03

Do I need a separate ANPR licence or server?

No. Wisenet Road AI runs natively on the camera itself. There's no per-lane licence, no VMS-side ANPR module, no external plate-recognition server required. Events fire natively to any ONVIF-compatible VMS.
Q.04

How many vehicle makes and models can it recognise?

MMCR is trained on 100+ vehicle brands and 4700+ specific models, plus 11 colour categories. That covers the majority of vehicles you'll encounter on Australian roads, including most utes, SUVs, hatchbacks, sedans and small commercial vehicles.
Q.05

What's included for storage?

A 32GB microSD card ships pre-installed and holds 10,000+ LPR/vehicle capture events. A second card slot supports expansion for longer retention. Cards are also accessible remotely via the VMS or webviewer.
Q.06

Which VMS platforms integrate with the LPR data?

Wisenet WAVE and Wisenet SSM are natively integrated. Genetec and Milestone also support the Wisenet Road AI event stream via ONVIF metadata plus SUNAPI extensions.
Q.07

How does it compare to the standard PNO-A9081R?

The base A9081R is a general-purpose 4K AI bullet with all-object classification. This LPR version replaces general classification with a dedicated Wisenet Road AI engine specialised for plate + make/model/colour recognition — sacrifices general object variety for stronger vehicle-focused accuracy at gate/lane positions.
