§ 01Overview

What the QND-6012R is

The Hanwha QND-6012R is an entry-level 2MP indoor dome camera from Hanwha's Wisenet Q series — the essential-features product line designed for small business, residential, and cost-sensitive commercial installs.

A 2.8mm fixed wide-angle lens covers 114° horizontal, sufficient for a typical room, office, or small retail area from a single ceiling mount.

IR LEDs reach 20m for after-hours coverage.

The camera runs H.265, H.264 and MJPEG codecs with WiseStream II bandwidth optimisation and 120dB WDR for backlit-window handling — all the essentials at a Q-series price point.

Standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 3) power — any standard PoE switch port works, no PoE+ upgrade needed.

Includes hallway view mode (90°/270° rotation) for corridor coverage, motion/tampering/defocus detection, and edge storage via microSD.

Compact indoor dome form factor with one-way audio built in.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the QND-6012R

Essential Features at Q-Series Price

The Q series is Hanwha's essential-features range: H.265 codec + WDR + IR + edge storage + hallway view — the security-essential feature set without the higher-tier AI analytics you may not need for a small site.

Fixed Lens Means Install-and-Forget

The 2.8mm fixed wide lens covers 114° horizontal — enough for most rooms and small commercial spaces. No motorized varifocal to align at commissioning; no lens component to fail years later.

Runs on Standard PoE (802.3af)

Any standard PoE switch port powers this camera. No PoE+ upgrade, no dedicated switch, no infrastructure planning — plug into an existing PoE port and the camera runs.

Hallway View Fits Corridor Layouts

The 90°/270° rotation option produces a portrait-format stream that matches the proportions of corridors, hallways and long entryways — more efficient use of the 2MP sensor than a standard landscape frame.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Small Retail Interior

Front-of-house coverage from a single ceiling mount — 114° covers the standard shop floor width; 20m IR handles after-hours coverage across the whole retail footprint.

Home Office & Residential Rooms

Living areas, home offices, garages — 2MP is sufficient for the typical residential coverage; standard PoE means the same switch already powering VoIP or Wi-Fi APs runs the camera.

Cafe & Small Restaurant

Dining area coverage, kitchen entry, service counter — the compact dome form factor blends into standard hospitality ceilings without industrial-camera aesthetics.

Office Meeting Rooms

Small-medium meeting rooms where a single ceiling-mounted dome catches the whole room; hallway view mode covers narrow rooms in portrait orientation.

School Classrooms & Corridors

Ceiling mount in the classroom or hallway view along a corridor — the essential feature set (motion detection, tampering, IR) at a budget suited to multi-classroom deployments.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the QND-6012R

Q.01

Why choose the Q series over the higher-tier P series?

Q series is Hanwha's essential-features range: security-basic capabilities (H.265, WDR, IR, edge storage, motion detection) at a lower price point. P series adds AI classification, higher-resolution sensors, more sophisticated analytics, and premium build quality. For small business, residential, and cost-sensitive commercial sites where the security-essential feature set is enough, Q series is the practical fit.
Q.02

Is 2MP resolution enough for a small business?

For most small business and residential coverage — front of house, till points, small offices, cafe dining areas — 2MP delivers usable detail. If you need forensic-review headroom for later digital zoom into a wide shot, or if the camera has to cover a large area from a single mount, consider a higher-resolution model.
Q.03

Does it work with third-party VMS?

Yes. ONVIF Profile S / G / T support means the camera drops into any ONVIF-compatible VMS or NVR. Native Wisenet WAVE and SSM integration is fullest; SUNAPI (HTTP API) supports custom integrations.
Q.04

What analytics come with it?

Motion detection, tampering detection, and defocus detection. Hallway view mode for corridor coverage. No AI object classification — that's a P series feature. For most small-site security purposes, motion + tampering event rules are enough.
Q.05

Does it need PoE+ (802.3at) or standard PoE?

Standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 3) is sufficient — one of the reasons this camera fits residential and small business budgets. Any standard PoE switch port powers it; no PoE+ upgrade required.
Q.06

What's the practical difference between 2.8mm fixed and a varifocal lens?

Fixed lens means no motorized alignment during install — mount, cable, configure. Varifocal lens (like the QND-7082R sibling) lets you adjust focal length remotely after mount, useful if coverage requirements might change. Fixed is simpler and cheaper.
Q.07

What VMS software should I use for viewing?

Native Wisenet WAVE or Wisenet SSM (Hanwha's own VMS platforms), the free Wisenet Viewer PC/Mac app, or the free Wisenet Mobile iOS/Android app. All available from Hanwha's support portal.
