01Overview

What the HAN-QND-6082R is

The Hanwha QND-6082R is a 2MP indoor dome camera built around a 1/2.8" CMOS sensor and a 3.2 to 10 millimetre varifocal lens with 3.1x optical zoom, so installers can frame anything from a wide reception area to a narrow corridor from a single mounting point.

Auto(ICR) day/night switching and 850nm infrared LEDs extend clear visibility up to 20m after dark, while Wide Dynamic Range, SSDR and BLC work together to control glare from windows, glass doors and mixed indoor lighting.

Onboard analytics cover four 8-point motion zones, six-zone privacy masking, defocus detection, tampering alarm and virtual line/area triggers, all processed locally on the camera.

H.265/H.264 compression with WiseStream II and up to three streaming profiles keeps bandwidth and storage in check, and a 128GB Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC slot supports onboard event recording.

ONVIF Profile S/G/T and Hanwha's SUNAPI/Open Platform give flexibility for VMS and NVR integration in Australian retail, office and reception environments, backed by a 3-year warranty.

04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the HAN-QND-6082R

Frame It Once, Not Twice

3.2 to 10 millimetre varifocal lens with 3.1x optical zoom lets you dial in the exact field of view from a single ceiling mount, instead of ordering a different fixed-lens model if the first framing doesn't fit.

Readable Video Near Windows and Doorways

Backlight Compensation, Wide Dynamic Range and SSDR stop strong daylight from washing out faces near glass entries, so footage stays usable exactly where most retail and reception incidents happen.

Keeps Recording After the Lights Go Off

20m of 850nm infrared coverage and automatic day/night switching mean you're not left with a blank screen once a stockroom or corridor goes dark.

Early Warning Before a Complaint

Defocus and tampering detection flag lens interference or knocks before someone notices the picture has degraded, cutting down surprise maintenance callouts.

Keeps Logging If the Network Drops

A 128GB Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC slot lets the camera keep recording motion and alarm events locally, so an outage doesn't mean a recording gap.

05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Retail Counter Near Shopfront Glass

Strong afternoon light through the windows won't wash out the till or the customer's face — WDR and BLC balance the exposure, and the 3.1x zoom lets you frame the counter tightly from a single ceiling point.

Reception Desk and Entry Doors

One camera covers the desk and the door without a wide-angle compromise: zoom in for face-level detail at the desk, or pull back to catch the entry, and mask off an adjoining private office with privacy zones.

Stockroom and Back Corridor After Hours

Once the lights go off, 20m of IR keeps the aisle visible and motion detection flags movement, with events saved to the onboard SD card even if the corridor's network connection is unreliable.

Small Office Running Its Own NVR

Built-in audio adds context to recordings, and ONVIF/SUNAPI support means it slots into an existing NVR or VMS setup without needing a same-brand-only system.

Installation & setup

  1. Installation Requirements

Power via PoE (IEEE802.3af, Class 3, max 7.70W) or a separate 12VDC supply (max 6.50W). Operates from -10°C to +55°C at 0-90% RH non-condensing, so it suits typical indoor ceilings and walls away from direct weather exposure. Weighs 320g.

  2. Network and Storage Setup

Connect via RJ-45 (10/100BASE-T) and insert a Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC card (max 128GB) for onboard event recording. Use ONVIF Profile S/G/T or Hanwha's SUNAPI/Open Platform to add the camera to your NVR or VMS. Direct cloud connection is optional and needs a separate gateway.

  3. After a Firmware Update

If the web interface menu doesn't show new options right after updating, hard-refresh your browser (F5) to clear the cached page — this is a documented browser-cache behaviour on this camera's firmware platform, not a fault.

08Questions

Frequently asked about the HAN-QND-6082R

Q.01

Will I need a different lens or camera if the area I'm covering changes after installation?
Unlikely. The 3.2 to 10 millimetre varifocal lens gives 3.1x optical zoom with simple focus control, so the field of view can be adjusted from a wide 109° down to a tight 33° tele angle without physically swapping the lens or the camera body. That flexibility matters most in ceiling-mounted commercial fit-outs, where re-cabling or replacing a fixed-lens camera later is disruptive and costly.
Q.02

Will this camera blow out my NVR storage budget compared to older cameras?
It's built to help rather than hurt that budget. H.265/H.264 compression is paired with Hanwha's WiseStream II smart codec, which trims bandwidth and file size in typical static indoor scenes — the more cameras you're running on one NVR, the more that per-camera saving adds up in total storage headroom.
Q.03

Can I mount this outside under an eave or in a covered loading dock?
No — treat it as indoor-only. There's no weatherproof ingress rating in the datasheet, and the specified operating range (-10°C to +55°C, 0-90% RH non-condensing) is written for a climate-controlled or semi-sheltered indoor environment, not direct weather exposure. For a covered outdoor spot, choose a camera with a confirmed IP rating instead.
Q.04

Does the built-in microphone let me talk back through the camera?
No. The built-in microphone captures ambient audio alongside the video for recording and monitoring, but there's no speaker output specified for two-way communication. If two-way talk is a requirement, this isn't the right model to pick for that role.
Q.05

How would I know if the image quality has degraded after installation, before a customer complains?
The camera's onboard analytics include defocus detection, which flags when image sharpness drops — from a bumped lens, vibration, or a knock during cleaning — so you get an alert instead of finding out during an incident review. Combined with tampering detection, it gives an early warning before picture quality becomes a problem.
Q.06

Can this camera keep working as a recorder if my network or NVR goes down?
Yes. It has its own Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot (up to 128GB), so it can keep recording motion and alarm-triggered events locally even if the NVR connection drops, and footage can be retrieved directly from the card. That also makes it a workable standalone option for a single-camera location where running a full NVR isn't justified.
Q.07

Is there anything I should know about keeping this camera's firmware current?
As with any network camera, Hanwha has shipped firmware updates for this platform that resolved browser-specific display issues (including a Chrome HTTPS behaviour fix) and improved motion-detection sensitivity. Keeping the camera on current firmware is a simple way to stay ahead of browser quirks and benefit from those refinements.
Q.08

How is this different from the fixed-lens QND-6012R if I already have some of those installed?
Both share the same colour low-light rating, so image quality in dim rooms is comparable. The difference is reach and framing control: the QND-6082R's 3.2 to 10 millimetre, 3.1x zoom lens extends its DORI Identify range from 2.7m at wide out to 12.9m at full tele, letting you cover a longer sightline — a corridor or loading bay — from one mounting point instead of adding an extra fixed-lens camera further down the space.
