§ 01Overview

What the NVR504-32B-P16 is

The Uniview NVR504-32B-P16 is designed for a site that combines direct PoE cameras with additional cameras on the external network. Its operating limits are Max 30W for single port, Max 150W in total, 320Mbps incoming and a 10M/100M/1000M Ethernet interface, while 4 SATA interfaces accept Up to 10TB for each disk. Retention on a system this size is decided by drive count as much as by Ultra 265/H.265/H.264 compression, which is why all 4 SATA interfaces matter.

The decoder is the stronger part of this model. Recording resolution goes up to 16MP per camera, and decoding is rated at 2 x 16MP@30, 4 x 4K@30 or 16 x 1080P@30 in Ultra 265/H.265, with the 4K (3840x2160)@30 HDMI output and VGA output independent of each other. Live-view layouts go up to 32. When a camera's resolution exceeds the decoding capacity, the window goes black with the words No Resource; enabling Sub Stream First draws the sub streams instead of the main streams and uses less decoding resource.

The honest limitation is that the supported smart functions run on compatible cameras, not on the recorder. It records and searches SIP, Face Detection, Face Comparison, Vehicle Detection, UMD and Video Metadata from a total of 8-ch of cameras that perform the analysis themselves. It does not add those functions to a camera that lacks them.

Physically, it measures 400mm × 368mm × 74mm and weighs no more than 4Kg without drives. It uses 100~240V AC, operates from -10°C ~ +55°C, and provides 16-ch alarm input, 4-ch alarm output and RS485.

Does the Uniview NVR504-32B-P16 come with a hard drive?
No hard drive is included. It has 4 SATA interfaces with capacity up to 10TB for each disk; when free space reaches 0, recording stops unless overwrite is enabled, so set storage to Overwrite rather than Full and Stop.

Where do this model's smart analytics run?
The supported smart functions run on compatible cameras, not on the recorder. It handles camera-side SIP, Face Detection, Face Comparison, Vehicle Detection, UMD and Video Metadata on a total of 8-ch, with searches for face snapshots, motor vehicles, non-motor vehicles and human bodies.

Why is a live-view window black and showing No Resource?
The black window appears when a camera's resolution exceeds the recorder's decoding capacity. In Ultra 265/H.265 it is rated at 2 x 16MP@30, 4 x 4K@30 or 16 x 1080P@30; enabling Sub Stream First under Menu>System>Preview>Advanced reduces demand by using sub streams.

How do I connect cameras beyond the built-in PoE interfaces?
Connect cameras directly to the 16 RJ45 PoE interfaces, then place the remaining cameras on a network switch connected to the external Ethernet interface. The external Ethernet and PoE interfaces use different IP segments. Do not connect a switch to a PoE interface because each is designed for one camera only.

A camera on a PoE interface is not showing up. What should I check?
Confirm that the camera and recorder use the same PoE protocol and that the camera's demand fits Max 30W for single port and Max 150W in total. Then move a working camera to the failing interface and wait a couple of minutes to isolate whether the interface, cable or camera is at fault.

Will third-party ONVIF cameras work with this model?
Mainstream cameras conforming to ONVIF Profile S, Profile G or Profile T, and cameras using RTSP protocols, are supported. Add a third-party camera using ONVIF, its HTTP port and its login; Private protocol is for Uniview cameras, while Custom uses the third-party camera's RTSP stream. Some cameras require separate ONVIF credentials, and the camera and recorder must share the same local network and be able to ping each other.

Does this model support two-way audio?
Yes. Two-way audio is 1-ch, RCA using the recorder's audio input and output, so the external audio path is connected at the recorder.

How do I see the cameras on my phone?
Use the EZView app over EZCloud. Turn EZCloud on under Setup>EZCloud in the web interface or Menu>Network>Basic>EZCloud on the monitor, where it may also be labelled My Cloud or P2P. Add the recorder through Devices>Add>Scan using the QR code, then allow a couple of minutes for the cloud connection before starting live view.
