What the DS-2CD2066G2H-IU is

This Hikvision 6 MP 8-channel kit is a complete eight-camera mini bullet system for a home or business, supplied ready to record.

It pairs eight DS-2CD2066G2H-IU AcuSense mini bullet cameras with an eight-channel DS-7608NI-M2/8P PoE NVR and a 4 TB surveillance hard drive already fitted, so each camera connects on a single network cable and the recorder captures all eight channels from the start.

With eight cameras on an eight-channel recorder, the kit is supplied complete and every channel is used.

The cameras suit discreet, wide coverage.

Each is a compact 6 MP mini bullet recording 3200 x 1800 through a wide 2.8 mm lens, which takes in around 115 degrees so a single camera covers a whole entry, driveway or room.

AcuSense deep learning classifies human and vehicle targets so alerts and searches ignore rain, shadows and animals, a 120 dB wide dynamic range holds detail against bright backlight, and a built-in microphone lets the kit record audio alongside the video.

The small bullet body is low-profile but still a visible deterrent, and the DS-7608NI-M2/8P recorder has dual hard-drive bays so storage can grow with the system.

A couple of honest notes so it is set up correctly.

At night these are infrared cameras with a 40 metre range, so the picture is black and white, not full colour; this is not a white-light ColorVu kit.

The cameras have a built-in microphone for audio recording but no built-in speaker, so they are not a two-way intercom on their own.

The bodies are IP67 weatherproof for outdoor walls, though unlike a dome they are not vandal-rated, so for exposed reachable spots a vandal dome may suit better.

Because all eight channels are used, adding more cameras later means stepping up to a larger recorder; the 4 TB drive is included as standard and H.265+ compression keeps storage efficient, with a second or larger drive easily fitted for longer retention.

Eight DS-2CD2066G2H-IU mini bullet cameras, the DS-7608NI-M2/8P NVR with a 4 TB drive fitted, power supply and mounting accessories. Connect a monitor for local viewing.

Cabling

Run one network cable from each camera to a PoE port on the NVR. Standard Ethernet runs apply, and a PoE switch can extend reach for distant cameras.

Mounting

Fix each mini bullet to a wall or eave aimed over the area you want covered, within the 30 metre infrared range, using the bracket to set the angle.

Setup

Connect the NVR to a screen and the network, add the cameras on the plug-and-play PoE ports, set the AcuSense human and vehicle rules and recording schedule, and set up remote viewing in the Hik-Connect app.

Yes. The recorder is an eight-channel NVR and the kit uses all eight channels, so it is complete as supplied. To run more than eight cameras you would step up to a larger recorder, such as a sixteen-channel NVR, and add a PoE switch for the extra ports.

How wide a view do the cameras cover?
Each camera uses a wide 2.8 mm lens that takes in around 115 degrees, so a single mini bullet can cover a whole entry, driveway, room or yard. That wide field makes the kit efficient for general coverage, where you want to watch a broad area rather than zoom in on a distant point.

Do the cameras record sound or allow two-way talk?
Each DS-2CD2066G2H-IU has a built-in microphone, so the kit can record audio alongside the video. They have a microphone only and no built-in speaker, so they are not a two-way intercom on their own. Confirm that recording audio is permitted for your site before enabling it.

Do the cameras film in colour at night?
Not in the dark. At night they use 40 metre infrared, so the image is black and white. For full-colour footage all night you would choose a ColorVu kit with white-light cameras. These mini bullets focus on wide, detailed coverage with infrared night vision instead.

Are these cameras vandal resistant?
The mini bullets are IP67 weatherproof for outdoor walls and eaves, but unlike a dome they are not vandal-rated. For exposed, reachable positions where a camera could be knocked or tampered with, an IK10 vandal dome is a better fit, while the bullets suit higher or less accessible mounting.

AcuSense uses on-camera deep learning to classify human and vehicle targets and ignore other movement such as rain, leaves or animals. The system alerts you to what matters, cuts false alarms, and lets you search recordings by human or vehicle events instead of scrubbing through hours of footage.
