§ 01Overview

What the QNV-C8023R is

The Hanwha QNV-C8023R is a 5MP AI IR outdoor vandal dome camera on the Q-Core platform, built as a ceiling or wall-mounted unit for outdoor locations that must withstand harsh weather and deliberate impact.

A 4mm fixed lens provides approximately 80° horizontal field of view — a tighter frame than the 3mm C-series siblings, better suited to defined perimeter runs, driveway approaches, and industrial exteriors where the coverage needs to reach further rather than wider.

Resolution is 2592x1944 at up to 30fps under H.265, H.264, and MJPEG codecs.

Built-in IR extends visibility to 30m — longer than the 25m C8013R sibling — for reliable after-hours coverage of perimeter walls, loading yards, and covered vehicle approaches.

On-device AI classifies people and vehicles separately and supports virtual line crossing, intrusion, and loitering detection, filtering out wind-blown vegetation and animal traffic that generate false positives on standard motion detection.

WiseStream III compression combined with WiseNR II noise reduction keeps bandwidth and NVR storage predictable, and the IP66/IK10 housing suits commercial entrances, covered walkways, perimeter walls, and industrial exteriors.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the QNV-C8023R

Reach Further, Not Wider

The 4mm/80° framing suits defined perimeter runs where the priority is reaching further along the fence-line rather than covering a wider arc — a fit for driveway approaches, industrial site perimeters, and loading yard boundaries.

30m IR Beats the 25m C8013R Sibling

Extra 5m IR reach can be the difference between covering a perimeter run with one camera or needing two. Meaningful cost + cabling saving on multi-camera perimeter installations.

AI Cuts Perimeter False Positives

On-device person/vehicle classification filters out wind-blown vegetation, animal traffic, and shadow flicker — the specific false-alarm sources that make raw motion detection painful on outdoor perimeter deployments.

Vandal Rated for Publicly Accessible Mounts

IP66/IK10 aluminium construction handles commercial entrances and industrial exterior walls where tampering and harsh weather are both considered risks.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Perimeter Walls and Boundary Runs

4mm/80° framing plus 30m IR reach covers longer boundary lengths from fewer mounting points — AI classification generates alerts only on real perimeter breaches, not wind-triggered noise.

Driveway and Vehicle Approach Monitoring

AI vehicle classification generates alerts on real arrivals rather than shadow flicker or nearby traffic on adjacent roads — practical for after-hours residential and commercial driveways.

Industrial Site Exteriors

IK10 impact resistance handles exposed mounts around loading bays and industrial buildings; 30m IR sustains coverage across yard perimeters overnight for after-hours security monitoring.

Covered Walkways and Rear Access Points

Tighter framing suits corridor-like scenes where the coverage needs to reach the far end of the walkway rather than framing side walls. Line crossing rules can track direction of travel.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What is in the Box

1. Hanwha QNV-C8023R Camera x 1 2. Mounting Screws & Anchors x 1 set 3. Quick Start Guide x 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Power: PoE — verify switch/injector budget when adding AI-enabled cameras. 2. Mounting: ceiling or wall — Q-Core AI outdoor vandal dome housing. 3. Sealing: preserve the IP66 rating by sealing all cable and conduit entries. 4. Positioning: point to leverage the tighter 4mm framing — favour perimeter runs and vehicle approaches over wide-area coverage.

03

App/Software Setup

1. Access via web viewer, or add to Hanwha Wisenet WAVE or SSM software. 2. Configure AI analytics: draw virtual lines along perimeter runs, tune intrusion zones and loitering dwell times. 3. Test AI event forwarding into your VMS or notification pipeline. 4. Enable defocus and tampering detection alerts as part of commissioning.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the QNV-C8023R

Q.01

Q: How is this different from the QNV-C8013R?

A: Both are 5MP Q-Core AI IR vandal domes. The C8023R uses a 4mm fixed lens with ~80° H FoV and extends IR to 30m; the C8013R uses a 3mm/100° lens with 25m IR. Pick C8023R for defined perimeter runs and driveway approaches where reach matters; pick C8013R for wide-area building facades where width matters.
Q.02

Q: How far does the IR reach?

A: Built-in IR extends scene coverage to 30m — the extra 5m over the C8013R sibling can be the difference between covering a perimeter run with one camera or needing two.
Q.03

Q: What AI events can this camera detect?

A: Person and vehicle classification, virtual line crossing (with direction), intrusion into a defined zone, and loitering (subjects remaining beyond a configurable dwell time). Configure through the web viewer or Wisenet WAVE.
Q.04

Q: How does the tighter 4mm framing help on perimeter deployments?

A: The narrower ~80° horizontal field concentrates sensor pixels along the perimeter line rather than spreading them across a wider arc — meaningful when you want to identify subjects along a fence-line or driveway approach at longer distances, not just detect their presence.
Q.05

Q: Is the housing rated for direct outdoor exposure?

A: Yes — IEC 60529 IP66 (dust-tight, protected against water jets) and IEC 62262 IK10 (impact resistance). Seal all cable and conduit entries to preserve the IP66 rating.
Q.06

Q: How does the AI actually reduce false positives on outdoor sites?

A: Standard motion detection triggers on any pixel change — including wind-blown vegetation, animal traffic, and shadow flicker. On-device AI classifies whether the movement is a person or a vehicle before deciding to alert, cutting false triggers substantially on perimeter and outdoor sites.
Q.07

Q: Can this integrate with a third-party NVR or VMS?

A: Yes — the QNV-C8023R supports ONVIF for standard third-party integration. For AI-specific event forwarding into third-party VMS alarm workflows, test event delivery to your recorder before large rollouts.
