§ 01Overview

What the IPC-T240H-MU is

The HiLook IPC-T240H-MU is a 4MP fixed turret camera designed for entries, driveways and yards where you want sharp, reliable coverage with audio at a sensible price. Its 1/3 inch CMOS sensor records 2560 by 1440 at up to 20 fps, with 120 dB WDR to balance bright doorways against shaded interiors, capturing twice the detail of a Full HD camera.

It comes with a fixed lens, so choose the focal length for the scene before you order: the 2.8 mm gives a wider entry or room view, while the 4 mm reaches a little further down a path or driveway. At night the camera uses Hikvision's EXIR 2.0 infrared to light the scene evenly to about 30 m in black and white, avoiding the bright centre hotspot that older IR cameras can produce.

A built-in microphone records audio alongside the video, useful for capturing what is said at a doorway or counter. There is a microphone but no built-in speaker, so the camera records sound rather than offering two-way talk. Smart motion detection with false-alarm reduction helps keep recording and alerts focused on genuine activity, and H.265+ compression keeps storage and bandwidth low.

It is an IP67-rated outdoor camera that runs on PoE (802.3af) or 12 VDC over a single cable and records to a microSD card or to a HiLook or Hikvision NVR. The night image is black and white in infrared mode, as this is an IR camera rather than a full-colour or dual-light model.

What the IPC-T240H-MU features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

4MP Ultra HD

4MP captures roughly twice the detail of standard 1080p.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the IPC-T240H-MU

Detail and audio at a budget price

A 4MP sensor captures twice the detail of 1080p and adds a built-in microphone, giving clearer footage with sound without paying for features you may not need.

Even night vision

EXIR 2.0 infrared spreads light evenly to 30 m, avoiding the centre hotspot of cheaper IR cameras for a more usable black-and-white night image.

Hikvision engineering, lower cost

Built on Hikvision optical and IR technology under the HiLook value brand, it offers proven performance at a noticeably lower price, backed by a 3-year warranty.

Simple single-cable install

PoE power and data over one cable, a fixed lens and a compact turret body make it quick and cheap to deploy on a home or small-business job.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Front verandahs and entries

A wide fixed lens covers a porch, doorway and footpath approach with audio for a complete record of deliveries and visitors.

Retail counters and small offices

4MP clarity records transactions and customer interactions, with EXIR night vision for after-hours coverage.

Driveways and side access

Cover a gate, path or side passage with even 30 m night vision and smart motion detection to keep alerts relevant.

Standalone or NVR systems

Record to a microSD card for a single camera, or add it to a HiLook or Hikvision NVR for continuous multi-camera recording.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

The IPC-T240H-MU turret camera, mounting base and screw pack, a waterproofing gland for the network connector and a quick start guide. A PoE switch or injector, network cable, microSD card and any junction box or bracket are not included.

02

Installation requirements

Mount the camera to a wall or eave, ideally 2.5 to 3 m high, angled down over the area you want to watch, and run Cat5e or Cat6 back to a PoE switch or a HiLook/Hikvision NVR (IEEE 802.3af). Seal the connector with the supplied gland for outdoor use. Insert a microSD card or point recording at your NVR, set the smart motion detection to suit the scene, then test before leaving site.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the IPC-T240H-MU

Q.01

What is EXIR 2.0 and how far does the night vision reach?

EXIR 2.0 is Hikvision's evolved infrared technology that spreads the IR light evenly across the scene to about 30 m, avoiding the bright centre hotspot and dark edges that cheaper IR cameras produce. The result is a more uniform black-and-white night image. This is an infrared camera, so the night picture is monochrome rather than full colour.
Q.02

Does it come with a 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens?

It is a fixed-lens camera offered with either a 2.8 mm or a 4 mm lens, so you choose the focal length before ordering. The 2.8 mm gives a wider view for a doorway or room, while the 4 mm reaches a little further down a path or driveway. There is no motorised zoom on this model, so set the coverage by where you mount it.
Q.03

Does it record audio or have two-way talk?

It has a built-in microphone that records audio alongside the video, which is handy for capturing conversations at a door or counter. It does not have a built-in speaker, so there is no two-way talk; it records sound rather than letting you speak back through the camera.
Q.04

How much detail does 4MP give compared with a 1080p camera?

At 2560 x 1440 it captures roughly twice the pixels of a 1080p (2MP) camera, so faces and number plates are noticeably clearer within the camera's identify range. It is a good balance of detail, storage use and price for typical home and small-business coverage where 6MP or 8MP is more than you need.
Q.05

How is it powered and do I need an NVR?

It runs on PoE using the 802.3af standard, so one Cat5e or Cat6 cable carries power and data from a PoE switch or NVR, or on a 12 VDC supply. It records to a microSD card for a single camera, or connect it to a HiLook or Hikvision NVR for continuous multi-camera recording.
Q.06

Will it cut down false alarms?

It uses smart motion detection with false-alarm reduction to focus recording and alerts on genuine movement and filter out minor scene changes. For full deep-learning human and vehicle classification, step up to an AcuSense model such as the IPC-T363H-MU or the 8MP IPC-T282H-MU.
Q.07

Is it weatherproof for outdoor use?

Yes. It carries an IP67 rating against dust and sustained rain, built for Australian outdoor conditions. Mounting it under an eave still helps reduce direct sun, glare and rain on the front element.
