What the DS-2CD2166G2H-ISU is

This Hikvision 6 MP kit is a complete four-camera dome system for a home or small business, supplied ready to record. It pairs four DS-2CD2166G2H-ISU AcuSense dome cameras with a four-channel DS-7604NI-M1/4P PoE NVR — no hard drive is included (add one below to enable recording) — and each camera connects on a single network cable and the recorder is set up to capture all four channels from the start. With four cameras on a four-channel recorder, the kit is supplied complete for the cameras provided.

The cameras are the strength of this kit. Each is a 6 MP dome with DarkFighter low-light imaging for clean detail in dim scenes, AcuSense deep learning that classifies human and vehicle targets so alerts and searches ignore rain, shadows and animals, and a 120 dB wide dynamic range that holds detail against bright backlight. The metal housing is IP67 weatherproof and IK10 vandal-resistant, so these domes suit accessible and public-facing positions such as entrances, shopfronts and car parks where a camera could be knocked or tampered with. Each camera also has a built-in microphone, so the kit can record audio alongside the video.

A couple of honest notes so it is set up correctly. At night these are infrared cameras with a 30 metre range, so the picture is black and white, not full colour; DarkFighter improves low-light quality but this is not a white-light ColorVu kit. The cameras have a built-in microphone for audio recording but no built-in speaker, so they are not a two-way intercom on their own. No hard drive is included — add one below to enable recording; a 4 TB drive gives generous everyday retention, H.265+ compression keeps storage efficient, and a larger drive can be fitted for longer retention.

Installation & setup

In the box

Four DS-2CD2166G2H-ISU dome cameras, the DS-7604NI-M1/4P NVR (no HDD included — add a hard drive to enable recording), power supply and mounting accessories. Connect a monitor for local viewing.

Cabling

Run one network cable from each camera to a PoE port on the NVR. Standard Ethernet runs apply, and a PoE switch can extend reach for a distant camera.

Mounting

Fix each dome to a ceiling, wall or eave covering the area you want watched, within the 30 metre infrared range, and adjust the lens angle inside the housing.

Setup

Connect the NVR to a screen and the network, add the cameras on the plug-and-play PoE ports, set the AcuSense human and vehicle rules and recording schedule, and set up remote viewing in the Hik-Connect app.

Is the kit ready to record out of the box?
Yes. It includes the four 6 MP AcuSense dome cameras and the four-channel DS-7604NI-M1/4P PoE NVR — no hard drive is included (add one below to enable recording) — and each camera connects on one network cable and the recorder captures all four channels. Add a screen or use the Hik-Connect app to view live and recorded footage.

Do the cameras record sound or allow two-way talk?
Each DS-2CD2166G2H-ISU has a built-in microphone, so the kit can record audio alongside the video. They have a microphone only and no built-in speaker, so they are not a two-way intercom on their own. Confirm that recording audio is permitted for your site before enabling it.

Do the cameras film in colour at night?
Not in the dark. They use DarkFighter low-light imaging for clean detail in dim conditions, but at night they switch to 30 metre infrared, so the image is black and white. For full-colour footage all night you would choose a ColorVu kit with white-light cameras.

What does the IK10 rating add over a normal camera?
IK10 is the highest common impact rating, so the dome housing is built to take knocks, kicks and tampering. Combined with IP67 weather sealing, it makes these cameras a strong fit for accessible and public spots such as entrances, shopfronts, stairwells and car parks where a camera might be hit.

Can I add more cameras to this kit?
The recorder is a four-channel NVR and the kit uses all four channels, so it is complete as supplied. To run more than four cameras you would step up to a larger recorder, such as an eight or sixteen-channel NVR, and add a PoE switch for the extra ports.

What does AcuSense do for me?
AcuSense uses on-camera deep learning to classify human and vehicle targets and ignore other movement such as rain, leaves or animals. The system alerts you to what matters, cuts false alarms, and lets you search recordings by human or vehicle events instead of scrubbing through hours of footage.

Are the cameras suitable for outdoors in Australian weather?
Yes. The dome cameras are IP67 rated against dust and water in a metal housing, so they handle sun, rain and dust on outdoor walls and eaves as well as indoor positions, with 30 metre infrared for night coverage.

You have 30 days from the day you receive your order to request a change-of-mind return. Items must be unopened, factory-sealed and in resalable condition. A 15% restocking fee applies and return postage is at your cost. Faulty or incorrectly supplied items are different: we cover the return shipping and refund or replace at no charge.
