§ 01Overview

What the QNV-C8012 is

The Hanwha QNV-C8012 is a 5MP AI micro vandal dome camera on the Q-Core platform, built for compact ceiling installations at entrances, corridors, and public-facing areas where a smaller-than-standard housing meets accurate scene analysis.

A fixed 2.4mm lens captures an ultra-wide field of view suited to broad monitoring zones — foyers, reception counters, retail floors, and internal walkways — from a single unobtrusive mount.

The on-board AI engine classifies detected objects as people or vehicles, and supports virtual line crossing, intrusion, loitering, and enter/exit analytics for meaningful event alerting rather than raw motion triggers.

Built with 120dB Wide Dynamic Range and ICR mechanical day/night switching, the camera handles high-contrast interior scenes with backlit windows and mixed light sources.

The compact hard-coated dome bubble is backed by IP66 weatherproofing, IK10 impact resistance, and NEMA4X corrosion rating for demanding indoor and outdoor installations where weather, tampering, and corrosion are all considered risks.

PoE-powered with a maximum draw of 7W keeps deployment on shared PoE budgets straightforward.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the QNV-C8012

Meaningful Alerts, Not Motion Noise

On-device AI classifies people and vehicles separately from general motion, and supports loitering and enter/exit events indoors — filtering out shadow flicker, HVAC-driven movement, and shift changes that clutter standard motion detection.

Compact Ceiling Coverage

Micro form factor lets you mount where a full-size dome would be visually intrusive or wouldn't fit — reception ceilings, retail counter zones, hospitality foyers where camera visibility is a design consideration.

Ultra-Wide Frame From 2.4mm

A single unit frames a full foyer, retail floor, or reception area without needing a second camera for width — reducing camera count and cable runs on space-constrained fitouts.

Corrosion-Rated Housing

IP66/IK10/NEMA4X combination is unusual on a micro dome — the NEMA4X corrosion rating materially extends housing life on coastal or industrial-adjacent installations where standard IP66 domes corrode within 2-3 years.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Reception Areas and Foyers

Compact micro dome sits flush against modern ceiling finishes without drawing attention, and 2.4mm ultra-wide framing captures the full reception zone from a single mount. AI loitering detection flags subjects lingering at unattended counters after hours.

Retail POS and Counter Zones

On-device AI classification filters out shadow flicker from shopfront lighting, generating alerts only for real people entering the counter perimeter — cutting operator review time on multi-camera retail installations.

Australian Hospitality Interiors

Where a bulky dome clashes with premium fitout finishes, the QNV-C8012's micro form factor sits discreetly against a fit-out ceiling while still delivering 5MP + AI. IP66/NEMA4X handles the odd coastal-adjacent venue where humidity is high year-round.

Corridors and Public-Facing Public Areas

IK10 impact rating suits publicly accessible mounts around building corridors, lift lobbies, and mailrooms where tampering is a considered risk. Enter/exit analytics track through-traffic patterns.

Installation & setup

01

What is in the Box

1. Hanwha QNV-C8012 Camera x 1 2. Mounting Screws & Anchors x 1 set 3. Quick Start Guide x 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Power: PoE, maximum 7W — comfortable on any IEEE 802.3af switch or injector. 2. Mounting: ceiling or wall — micro vandal dome housing suits low-profile installations. 3. Sealing: preserve the IP66/NEMA4X rating by sealing all cable and conduit entries. 4. Lighting: no built-in IR — ensure the deployment scene has adequate ambient lighting after dark.

03

App/Software Setup

1. Access via web viewer, or add to Hanwha Wisenet WAVE or SSM software. 2. Power the camera via PoE and allow it to initialise. 3. Configure AI analytics: draw virtual lines and intrusion zones, tune loitering dwell time. 4. Test event forwarding into your VMS or notification pipeline before commissioning.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the QNV-C8012

Q.01

Q: How is the AI different from standard motion detection?

A: Standard motion detection triggers on any pixel change — including HVAC-driven curtain movement, shadow flicker, and lighting changes. On-device AI classifies whether the movement is a person or a vehicle before deciding to alert, cutting false triggers substantially on interior deployments.
Q.02

Q: What field of view does the 2.4mm lens cover?

A: An ultra-wide frame from a single ceiling mount — enough to capture a full reception area, retail floor, or foyer without needing a second camera for width. Fixed focal so no remote adjustment is needed post-install.
Q.03

Q: Does this camera have IR for night vision?

A: No — the QNV-C8012 has no built-in IR illumination. It's targeted at indoor and well-lit outdoor scenes. For low-light or unlit deployments the R-suffixed C-series domes (C8011R, C8013R) carry integrated IR.
Q.04

Q: What's NEMA4X and why is it on a micro dome?

A: NEMA4X is a North American rating adding corrosion resistance on top of the standard IP66/IK10 combination. It materially extends housing life on coastal or industrial-adjacent installations where salt spray or chemical vapours reduce plain IP66 housing life within 2-3 years.
Q.05

Q: What AI events can this camera detect?

A: Person and vehicle classification, virtual line crossing (with direction), intrusion into a defined zone, loitering (subjects remaining beyond a configurable dwell time), and enter/exit tracking. Configure zones and lines through the web viewer or Wisenet WAVE during commissioning.
Q.06

Q: How much power does the camera draw?

A: Maximum 7W over PoE — comfortable on any IEEE 802.3af switch or injector. Practical impact: no PoE budget concerns when adding to a shared switch alongside standard cameras.
Q.07

Q: Can this integrate with a third-party NVR or VMS?

A: Yes — the QNV-C8012 supports ONVIF for standard third-party integration. For AI-specific event forwarding into third-party VMS alarm workflows, test event delivery to your recorder before large rollouts.
Q.08

Q: How does the micro form factor compare to a standard dome?

A: Materially smaller — designed for ceiling installations where a standard-size vandal dome would be visually intrusive against premium interior finishes (hospitality venues, showroom ceilings, boutique retail) or wouldn't fit tight mounting positions.
