§ 01Overview

What the DH-IPC-HDW5541TM-ASE is

The Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5541TM-ASE is a 5MP WizMind eyeball camera aimed at sites that want analytics, not just recording.

A 1/2.7" Starlight sensor captures detailed 5MP footage in low light before infrared takes over to 50 m, while 120 dB WDR holds detail across bright entrances and shaded interiors.

What sets the WizMind range apart is the on-camera deep-learning engine.

It runs people counting with day, week and month reports, face attribute capture, heat mapping and perimeter protection that classifies humans and vehicles to cut false alarms.

These analytics are generated on the camera but are received and stored by a compatible Dahua WizMind NVR or VMS, so confirm your recorder supports the specific reports you need.

The lens is fixed at 2.8mm for a wide view, a built-in microphone adds one audio channel, and the IP67 metal housing suits outdoor positions.

It powers from PoE, ePoE or 12 VDC, with ePoE extending the cable run beyond the usual 100 m limit.

What the DH-IPC-HDW5541TM-ASE features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

50m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared sees in total darkness up to around 50m — good for longer driveways, car parks and wider properties. People and vehicles stay visible well beyond the reach of a porch light.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

DH-IPC-HDW5541TM-ASE specifications

- Resolution: 5MP 1/2.7" CMOS sensor records sharp, detailed footage for clear identification of people and vehicles.

- Starlight low light: Holds colour detail in dim conditions, then switches to infrared as light falls away.

- Night vision: Built-in IR reaches up to 50 m for black-and-white coverage in full darkness, with smart illumination to stop close subjects washing out.

- WizMind analytics: People counting with reports, face attribute capture, heat map and human/vehicle perimeter protection run on the camera.

- 120 dB WDR: Wide dynamic range balances backlit doorways and bright forecourts against shaded areas in one frame.

- Built-in microphone: Records one channel of audio alongside the video for added context.

- Flexible and durable: IP67 metal housing, PoE, ePoE or 12 VDC power, and microSD storage for local recording.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DH-IPC-HDW5541TM-ASE

Data, not just video

People counting, heat mapping and face attributes turn the camera into a source of occupancy and traffic insight, not just a recorder.

Smart, focused alerts

Perimeter protection classifies humans and vehicles, so notifications and searches centre on people and cars rather than animals or foliage.

Detail in tough light

Starlight sensitivity plus 120 dB WDR keeps faces and plates readable at backlit entries and dim car parks.

Longer cable runs

ePoE support extends the powered cable distance beyond the standard 100 m, useful on larger commercial and industrial sites.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Retail floors and entrances

Wide 2.8mm coverage from a ceiling mount, with people counting reports tracking foot traffic and heat maps highlighting busy aisles.

Building lobbies

Face attribute capture supports visitor records at apartment, office and facility reception points from a single ceiling position.

Outdoor perimeters

IP67 and a wide operating temperature range suit eave, soffit and wall mounting, with AI perimeter rules replacing broad motion zones.

Multi-VMS sites

ONVIF Profile S/G/T and open SDK let the camera feed third-party recorders, with full analytics on Dahua WizMind platforms.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Recorder and analytics

Records to a Dahua WizMind NVR or onboard microSD, and works with the Dahua DMSS app. People counting reports and heat maps need a compatible WizMind recorder or VMS to display fully.

02

Power and cabling

Use PoE or ePoE for a single-cable run, or supply 12 VDC. ePoE allows longer runs than standard PoE; run quality Cat6 to the switch or recorder.

03

Lens and framing

The fixed 2.8mm lens gives a wide view for lobbies and aisles. For a long corridor or fence line, a 3.6mm or 6mm variant frames tighter at distance.

04

Mounting

Fix the eyeball base to a wall or ceiling, then use the pan, tilt and rotation adjustment to refine the frame without moving the bracket.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DH-IPC-HDW5541TM-ASE

Q.01

What analytics does the HDW5541TM-ASE run on the camera?

It runs WizMind deep-learning analytics on the camera, including people counting with reports, face attribute capture, heat mapping, and perimeter protection that classifies humans and vehicles.
Q.02

Do I need a special recorder for the people counting reports?

The analytics are generated on the camera, but a compatible Dahua WizMind NVR or VMS is needed to receive and display the full reports and heat maps. Confirm your recorder supports the functions you intend to use.
Q.03

Does it record in colour at night?

It uses Starlight to hold colour in low light, then switches to infrared in full darkness and records in black and white. Infrared reaches up to 50 m.
Q.04

Does it have two-way audio?

It has a built-in microphone for one channel of audio. It does not have a built-in speaker, so it records audio but cannot do two-way talk.
Q.05

What lens does it have and can it zoom?

It has a fixed 2.8mm wide lens and does not zoom. For a long corridor or fence line at distance, a 3.6mm or 6mm variant frames tighter.
Q.06

How is it powered?

It runs on PoE, ePoE or 12 VDC. ePoE extends the powered cable run beyond the standard 100 m, which helps on larger sites.
Q.07

Is it suitable for outdoor use in Australia?

Yes. The metal housing is rated IP67 against dust and water, and the camera operates across a wide temperature range, so it can be wall or eave mounted outdoors.
Q.08

Will it work with a non-Dahua NVR?

It supports ONVIF Profile S, G and T and an open SDK, so it streams to most third-party platforms. Full WizMind analytics such as people counting reports may need a Dahua-compatible recorder.
