Dahua DHI-ARD324-W2(S) Wireless Door Detector Plus

SKU: DHI-ARD324-W2(S)
Description

The Dahua DHI-ARD324-W2(S) is a Door Detector Plus for the Dahua AirShield alarm system. As well as sensing when a door or window is opened, it detects shock and tilt, so it catches someone forcing or lifting a door, not just opening it. It has a wired input for a third-party contact and even monitors temperature. It links to your AirShield hub over an encrypted two-way wireless connection and runs on a long-life battery, so there is no wiring to the hub. An AirShield hub is required and sold separately.

Key points
- Three sensors in one: open/close, shock, and tilt up to 25°
- Reed switch plus a triaxial accelerometer for accurate detection
- One wired alarm input for a third-party contact (NO/NC/impulse)
- Built-in temperature monitoring (-15 C to +65 C)
- Encrypted two-way wireless (AES128, frequency hopping), up to 1,000 m
- CR123A battery with up to around 3 years of life; tamper alarm
- Indoor use on non-metal doors; requires a Dahua AirShield hub

§ 01Overview

What the DHI-ARD324-W2(S) is

The Dahua DHI-ARD324-W2(S) Door Detector Plus does more than a basic door contact. Fitted to a door or window, its reed switch reports open and close as you would expect, while a built-in triaxial accelerometer adds shock and tilt detection — so it can flag someone striking, prising or lifting the door, with adjustable shock sensitivity and a tilt alarm up to 25 degrees. It also has a wired alarm input, so you can bring a third-party contact into the same wireless point, and it monitors ambient temperature.

It is fully wireless to the hub. It connects over an encrypted two-way link with AES128 and frequency hopping at up to 1,000 m in open space, and a tamper alarm flags any attempt to remove it. A single CR123A battery runs it for up to around three years depending on how it is used, with a low-battery warning, and a test mode helps you confirm a good signal during setup.

Worth knowing before you buy: this is an indoor detector for non-metal doors and windows — it is not weatherproof and is not rated for outdoor or exposed positions. It is also an accessory, not a system on its own: it needs a Dahua AirShield hub, and you would normally pair it with a siren and a way to arm the system.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DHI-ARD324-W2(S)

Three sensors in one

Open/close, shock and tilt detection together catch forcing and lifting, not just a door being opened, from a single device.

Bring in a wired contact

A wired input lets you add a third-party contact to the wireless system, handy for an existing reed or a roller door.

Years between battery changes

A CR123A cell lasts up to around three years with a low-battery warning, so upkeep is minimal.

Confirmed, secure link

An encrypted two-way wireless link with AES128 and frequency hopping confirms each report and resists interference.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Front and back doors

Protect main entry doors so any opening, shock or forcing raises the alarm through the hub.

Windows and sliding doors

Fit it to non-metal windows and sliders where tilt and shock detection add cover beyond a simple open/close contact.

Add an existing contact

Use the wired input to bring an existing reed switch or roller-door contact into the AirShield system.

Rooms worth watching

Use the temperature reading to keep an eye on a sensitive indoor room alongside door protection.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DHI-ARD324-W2(S) Door Detector Plus with mounting bracket and a CR123A battery. A Dahua AirShield hub is required and not included.

02

Installation requirements

Mount it on the indoor face of a non-metal door or window with the magnet aligned to the marked gap, fit the battery and enrol it to your AirShield hub in the DMSS app. Set the shock and tilt sensitivity to suit the door, wire any third-party contact to the input, and use the test mode to confirm a good two-way signal before arming.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DHI-ARD324-W2(S)

Q.01

Does the ARD324-W2(S) detector work on its own?

No. It is a detector for the Dahua AirShield system and needs an AirShield hub. Enrolled to a hub it reports door events wirelessly and the hub raises the alarm; on its own it has nothing to report to.
Q.02

How is the Plus different from a basic door contact?

A basic contact only tells you a door is open or closed. The Plus adds a triaxial accelerometer, so it also detects shock and tilt — catching someone striking, forcing or lifting the door — and it includes a wired input and temperature monitoring as well.
Q.03

Can I use it outside or in a weather-exposed spot?

No. It is an indoor detector for non-metal doors and windows and is not weatherproof or rated for outdoor use. For an exposed opening you would use a detector designed for that, or mount this one on the inner face of an indoor door.
Q.04

What is the wired input for?

It has one wired alarm input that lets you connect a third-party contact, such as an existing reed or a roller-door switch, and bring it into the AirShield system through this detector's wireless link, set as normally-open, normally-closed or impulse count.
Q.05

Why does it measure temperature?

It reports the ambient indoor temperature in the app, from -15 C to +65 C, which is handy for keeping an eye on a room as well as protecting the door. It is a monitoring feature, not a heat or smoke alarm.
Q.06

How long does the battery last and can I replace it?

It runs on a single CR123A cell for up to around three years depending on how often it is triggered and how the wired input is configured, with a low-battery warning. CR123A is a standard type you can replace yourself.
Q.07

Will someone be able to remove it without setting off the alarm?

No. It has a tamper alarm that triggers if the detector is removed or interfered with, so an attempt to take it off the door is reported to the hub.
Q.08

Is this genuine Australian Dahua stock?

Yes. It is supplied as genuine Australian Dahua stock with local 3-year warranty and support, and it pairs with the AirShield hubs and peripherals sold here.
