§ 01Overview

What the CM705PB is

The Bosch CM705PB is the PCB-only version of the CM705B universal expander for Solution 6000. On one board, it combines up to 16 zone inputs, 4 protected open-collector outputs rated at 500mA each, 6 Power Out terminals and a power supply with its own battery charger.

The module's zone side supports Single, Alarm+Tamper and Split EOL monitoring with up to 15 different EOL Resistor options, and the optional CM707B plug-on module brings the hard wired inputs to 16 for Alarm + Tamper or single EOL configurations. The outputs are monitored for short and open circuit and can supervise horn speakers and other connected devices, so a connected horn speaker is monitored in the same way as other output devices.

It takes a 16-18V AC 50-60Hz – 24VA input from an external power adaptor or internal transformer, charges a 12V DC, 7.2AH sealed battery as its secondary source, and offers a 2.5A PTC-fused COMM+ terminal for the onboard outputs plus 1A fused +12V outputs for detectors and other modules. It is specified at 10.0V DC – 14.5V Dc @ 90mA Max.

It connects to the panel over the 4-wire encrypted RS485 LAN, is addressed with a DIP switch, and carries anti-substitution protection and resettable fuse protection on the power terminals. It provides a Service Code Pad connection point and a dedicated tamper input; if the tamper input is not required, the supplied shunt can disable it.

It is a bare board, so a metal cabinet is not included. The module needs a separate primary power source and battery, and that primary source can be an external power adaptor or internal transformer; a suitable enclosure and mounting arrangement are also selected for the PCB-only module.

CM705PB specifications

Bosch CM705PB — up to 16 zone inputs, 4 outputs and a power supply on one LAN module — combines the main expansion functions on a single board
Zones — Single, Alarm+Tamper and Split EOL with up to 15 different EOL Resistor options — matches the site's required supported wiring configuration
Outputs — 4 protected open-collector outputs, 500mA each, monitored for short and open circuit — horn speakers and other connected devices can be supervised
Power supply — 16-18V AC 50-60Hz – 24VA input with a charger for a 12V DC, 7.2AH battery — provides a secondary power source for the module
Power terminals — COMM+ 2.5A and +12V 1A outputs, PTC fuse protected — detectors and modules can be powered locally
Security — anti-substitution protection on the encrypted RS485 LAN — helps protect the system from module substitution
Service access — Service Code Pad connection point and dedicated tamper input with supplied disabling shunt — local servicing is supported and unused tamper monitoring can be disabled
Fit — PCB only, 235(W) x 85(D) x 40(H)mm — the module is supplied without a metal cabinet

Overview & Compatibility

Overview & Compatibility — Bosch CM705PB Universal Zone & Output Expander Solution 6000
FeatureDetail
Product CM705PB Universal LAN Zone Expander Module
Form The Universal Expander is available in a metal cabinet (CM705B) or as a PCB module only (CM705PB) depending on your requirements.
Connection The module connects to the control panel via the 4-wire encrypted RS485 LAN, and must be assigned a unique address on the LAN via the address DIP switch.
Fixing Method The CM705B can be mounted in the MW700, MW710, Mw720 or MW730 enclosures using clip-in PCB mounts supplied
Optional plug on expander The optional CM707B plug on module can be added via the expansion port on the CM705B Universal Expander to provide an additional 8 hard wired zone inputs, bringing the CM705B Universal Expander to 16 hard wired zone inputs for Alarm + Tamper, 4 state monitoring or single EOL configurations.
Panel compatibility (Solution 6000 datasheet) Input zone expansion options include CM704B - 8/16 zone expanders, CM705B – 8/16 universal zone expanders and CM707B - 8 zone piggy back expanders. Up to 8 modules of any type can be used.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the CM705PB

Q.01

What does the Bosch CM705PB add to a Solution 6000?

It adds up to 16 zone inputs, 4 monitored outputs and 6 Power Out terminals on one LAN module. It also has separate primary and secondary power-source connections.
Q.02

How many zones do I really get?

The module supports up to 16 zone inputs. Split EOL monitoring doubles the physical inputs; for Single or Alarm+Tamper EOL, the optional CM707B plug-on module brings the universal expander to 16 hard wired zone inputs.
Q.03

What can the outputs drive?

It provides 4 protected open-collector outputs, each capable of a maximum of 500mA and monitored for short and open circuit. The outputs can monitor the state of horn speakers and other connected devices.
Q.04

How much power is available for detectors?

The +12V outputs are rated at 1A and PTC fuse protected, with 6 Power Out terminals to simplify wiring. Detectors and other modules can draw from these outputs.
Q.05

What primary power source and battery does it use?

Its primary source can be a 16-18V AC 50-60Hz – 24VA External Power Adaptor or a 220-240V AC to 18V AC 50-60Hz – 24VA Internal Transformer, and its secondary source is a 12V DC, 7.2AH sealed rechargeable battery. The listing is PCB only, so the power source and battery need to be added separately.
Q.06

How is it addressed and wired?

It connects to the panel via the 4-wire encrypted RS485 LAN and is given a unique address through the address DIP switch. Max total LAN length using multi strand security cable = 300m; Max total LAN length using 2 pair twisted shielded data cable (Belden 8723) = 1200m.
Q.07

Where does the module mount?

It is supplied as a PCB module only rather than in the CM705B metal cabinet. A suitable enclosure and mounting arrangement are therefore added separately.
Q.08

What does a LAN+ Overload trouble message mean?

A LAN+ Overload trouble means the LAN power terminal is drawing above its 1A rating. This model has separate power output terminals for connected devices.
Q.09

What are its operating limits and warranty?

The operating figures are 10.0V DC – 14.5V Dc @ 90mA Max, -30 to 55 °C Operating, and 5% to 85% at 30 °C non-condensing. Warranty is 3 years.
