§ 01Overview
What the ISC-PPR1-W16 is
The Bosch ISC-PPR1-W16 is the single-technology detector in Bosch's Professional Series: passive infrared only, but with the optics and the processing that the dual-technology models use. It covers 18 m x 25 m and switches on a DIP switch to 8 m x 10 m, so a warehouse and the office beside it can be fitted from the same part number.
The optics are what set it apart from an ordinary PIR. Tri-focus optics use three focal lengths, long, middle and short range, applied across 86 detection zones that combine into 11 solid curtains, so the near field is covered as carefully as the far one. Two pyroelectric sensors read those zones.
The decision to alarm is not made on infrared alone. Sensor data fusion combines the two pyroelectric sensors with a room temperature sensor and a white light level sensor. Active white light suppression measures light directed at the face of the detector, which is what stops a headlight sweeping across a showroom from raising an alarm, and dynamic temperature compensation lifts PIR sensitivity when the room approaches body heat and a plain PIR would start missing people. Small animal immunity discounts animals under 4.5 kg, such as rodents.
Commissioning and fault finding are built in. A blue alarm LED can be enabled or disabled remotely from a keypad, a control centre or programming software, and alarm memory flashes the LED to show stored alarms, which is how the firing detector is identified in a room with several. A low input power trouble activates the trouble relay and flashes the LED whenever the supply falls below 8 V.
Wiring is a power-supervised normally-closed solid-state relay rated 3 W, 125 mA, 25 VDC, with a normally-closed tamper for the 24-hour circuit. It runs from 9 VDC to 15 VDC, drawing under 10 mA on standby at 12 VDC and under 15 mA at most. Mount it at 2 m to 3 m with no adjustment needed. The enclosure is 127 mm x 69 mm x 58 mm, IP41 and IK04, rated -29°C to +55°C, and it complies with EN 50131-2-2:2008 Grade 2.

§ 04Why choose this
Built for the way you actually use the ISC-PPR1-W16
One detector for two room sizes
Coverage is 18 m x 25 m and switches on a DIP switch to 8 m x 10 m. A warehouse floor and the office beside it can be fitted from the same part number, at the same mounting height.
Bright light is measured, not guessed at
An internal light sensor measures light directed at the detector face, and sensor data fusion uses that to eliminate false alarms from bright sources. Showrooms, glazed frontages and carparks are where that earns its keep.
It stays sensitive when the room is warm
Dynamic temperature compensation lifts PIR sensitivity at critical temperatures, which is precisely when a plain PIR is most likely to miss a person. In an Australian summer that is most afternoons.
Fewer false alarms from small animals
Small animal immunity reduces false alarms caused by animals under 4.5 kg, such as rodents. In a commercial building that is one of the more common reasons a zone gets isolated.
Designed to be commissioned and diagnosed
The blue alarm LED can be turned on or off remotely from a keypad or programming software, and alarm memory flashes stored alarms so the detector that fired is identified. A low supply is reported through the trouble relay.
§ 05Where it fits
Right at home in these scenarios
Warehouse or workshop in an Australian business
The Bosch ISC-PPR1-W16 covers 18 m x 25 m from a wall at 2 m to 3 m, and temperature compensation keeps it catching people through a hot afternoon under a steel roof. Small animal immunity reduces false alarms from animals under 4.5 kg, such as rodents.
Showroom or glazed shopfront
Active white light suppression measures light thrown at the detector face, so headlights sweeping past a glass frontage do not trigger it. Tri-focus optics cover both the deep floor and the area right below the detector.
Office or storeroom on the same system
Switch the DIP to 8 m x 10 m and the same detector suits a smaller room, where a full-range unit would look through a doorway it should not. Using one family across the site keeps walk tests and fault finding consistent.
§ 06Setup
Installation & setup
What is in the box
The Bosch ISC-PPR1-W16 comes with a hardware pack holding two flat-head screws, two screw anchors, a nylon cable tie and a pattern mask, plus a literature pack. Brackets and cable are ordered separately; Solution 2000 and 3000 panels ship with end-of-line resistors in their own hardware pack.
Where to mount it
The recommended height is 2 m to 3 m, with no adjustment required at that height. It fits flat on a wall surface or semi-flush, in a corner, or on the optional B328 gimbal, B335-3 low-profile swivel or B338 universal ceiling bracket.
Choosing the coverage
Set the DIP switch for 18 m x 25 m or 8 m x 10 m to match the room rather than the largest number available. A pattern mask is included in the hardware pack for use where part of the field should not be watched.
Cabling
Run cable from the panel for the supply, the alarm relay and the tamper, using 0.2 mm2 to 1 mm2 wire, and take the tamper to a 24-hour protection circuit. The detector sets no maximum run of its own, so the limit is whatever the panel allows for a detector zone. On a Solution 6000 remember a shorted zone loop reads as a tamper under every end-of-line configuration.
Power
It runs from 9 VDC to 15 VDC, drawing under 10 mA on standby at 12 VDC and under 15 mA at most, so several detectors are a light load. Below 8 V a low input power trouble activates the trouble relay and flashes the LED.
Commissioning
Walk test using the blue alarm LED, then disable that LED remotely from the keypad, the control centre or the programming software so it does not show an intruder where the pattern lies. Alarm memory can be used afterwards to see which detector stored an alarm.
When to call an electrician
The detector runs on low voltage from the alarm panel and needs no mains work. Use a licensed electrician for any new or altered fixed wiring, and a licensed security installer for the panel programming.

§ 10Bundles
Recommended packages
Give it a panel zone with a tamper circuit
The Bosch ISC-PPR1-W16 needs a spare zone plus a 24-hour tamper circuit on a hardwired panel. The ICP-SOL3-P is a panel sold here; check its zone input and detector supply against the 9 VDC to 15 VDC and relay figures on this page.
Add the ceiling bracket for an open floor
A warehouse or showroom often has no wall in the right place. The B338 universal ceiling bracket aims the pattern down into the space from above.
Match the smaller rooms to the same family
Keeping one detector family across a site makes walk tests and fault finding consistent. The ISC-BPR2-W12 is the Bosch detector sold here for rooms that do not need an 18 m pattern; its own page carries its coverage.
