§ 01Overview

What the ISC-PDL1-W18G is

The Bosch ISC-PDL1-W18G is what goes in when a false alarm costs a call-out and a missed intruder costs more. It is a Professional Series TriTech detector: passive infrared and a 10.525 GHz microwave transceiver, both of them supervised, covering 18 m x 25 m and switchable on a DIP switch to 8 m x 10 m for a smaller room.

The decision is not made on two sensors but on five. Sensor data fusion combines two pyroelectric sensors, range adaptive radar, a room temperature sensor and a white light level sensor. The radar adjusts its own detection thresholds from what the PIR sensors are seeing, temperature compensation lifts PIR sensitivity when the room approaches body heat, and the light sensor measures light thrown at the face of the detector so headlights and reflections do not raise an alarm.

Optically it is unusual. Tri-focus optics use three focal lengths, long, middle and short range, across 86 detection zones that combine into 11 solid curtains, and two pyroelectric sensors give twice the standard optical gain. Cloak and Camouflage Detection Technology is there for an intruder trying to hide their infrared signature, and the sealed optic chamber keeps drafts and insects out. Small animal immunity discounts animals under 4.5 kg, such as rodents.

It also tells you when something is wrong with it. Microwave anti-mask raises a supervision trouble if reflective material is placed within 30.5 cm of the detector, and if the microwave subsystem fails the detector keeps working as a single-technology PIR rather than going blind. Trouble memory flashes the most recent trouble for twelve hours, alarm memory flashes stored alarms in multi-detector installations, and a remote self test drives the alarm relay and LED for four seconds when it passes. Three LEDs separate the causes: blue for a TriTech alarm, yellow for microwave, red for PIR, and their brightness self-adjusts.

It is not an outdoor detector: the rating is IP41 and IK04 for indoor commercial use, and it does not carry a pet allowance beyond the small animal immunity above. Wiring is conventional: a power-supervised normally-closed solid-state alarm relay at 3 W, 125 mA, 25 VDC, a normally-closed tamper for the 24-hour circuit, and a trouble relay. It runs from 9 VDC to 15 VDC, drawing 13 mA on standby and under 25 mA at most, and reports a low input power trouble below 8 V. Mount it at 2 m to 3 m with no adjustment needed, on a wall, in a corner or on a B328, B335-3 or B338 bracket. The enclosure is 136 mm x 69 mm x 58 mm, IP41 and IK04, rated -29°C to +55°C, and it holds C-Tick and SCEC approval in Australia with a 60 Months warranty.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the ISC-PDL1-W18G

Two technologies, both watched

The Bosch ISC-PDL1-W18G combines passive infrared with a 10.525 GHz microwave transceiver through sensor data fusion, so the alarm decision rests on more than one kind of evidence. Both subsystems are supervised, so a failure is reported rather than silently halving the protection.

One detector for two room sizes

Coverage is 18 m x 25 m and switches on a DIP switch to 8 m x 10 m. A warehouse floor and the office beside it can be fitted from the same part number, with no adjustment to the mounting.

It knows the difference between an intruder and a hot afternoon

Dynamic temperature compensation lifts PIR sensitivity as the room approaches body heat, which is exactly when a plain PIR starts missing people. Active white light suppression measures light thrown at the detector face so headlights do not trigger it.

Masking is an event, not a gap

If reflective material is placed within 30.5 cm of the detector, it raises a supervision trouble. If the microwave subsystem fails, it keeps working as a single-technology PIR instead of going blind.

Built to be commissioned and diagnosed

Separate blue, yellow and red LEDs show TriTech, microwave and PIR activity, alarm memory flashes stored alarms across multiple units, and trouble memory holds the last fault for twelve hours. A remote self test runs when the walk test input switches to its true state, driving the alarm relay and LED for four seconds on a pass.

Approved for Australian high-security work

It carries C-Tick and SCEC approval in Australia, an IP41 and IK04 rating and a 60 Months warranty. Those are the approvals an Australian specification usually names.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Warehouse or workshop floor in an Australian business

The Bosch ISC-PDL1-W18G covers 18 m x 25 m from a wall at 2 m to 3 m, and its range adaptive radar and temperature compensation hold catch performance through a hot afternoon under a steel roof. Small animal immunity discounts rodents under 4.5 kg.

Office or retail back room

Switch the DIP to 8 m x 10 m and the same detector suits a smaller room, where a full-range unit would see through a doorway it should not. Tri-focus optics keep the short range covered as well as the long.

Site that has to prove its detection

Where a specification calls for SCEC approval and supervised detection, this detector provides both, with anti-mask reporting and a remote self test driven from the walk test input. Alarm memory helps identify which detector fired in a multi-unit installation.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Before you start

Unpack the Bosch ISC-PDL1-W18G and check the carton against the delivery note. Brackets, cable and end-of-line resistors are separate items, so have them on site before starting.

02

Where to mount it

The recommended height is 2 m to 3 m, with no adjustment required at that height. It fits flat on a wall surface or semi-flush, in a corner, or on the optional B328 gimbal, B335-3 low-profile swivel or B338 universal ceiling bracket.

03

Choosing the coverage

Set the DIP switch for 18 m x 25 m or 8 m x 10 m before finishing the install, matching the pattern to the room rather than the largest number available. Use the built-in bubble level to sit it square.

04

Cabling

Run cable from the panel for the supply, the alarm relay, the trouble relay and the tamper, using 0.2 mm² to 1 mm² wire. The tamper circuit connects to a 24-hour protection circuit, and on a Solution 6000 remember a shorted zone loop reads as a tamper under every end-of-line configuration.

05

Power

The detector runs from 9 VDC to 15 VDC, drawing 13 mA on standby and under 25 mA at most. Below 8 V it raises a low input power trouble and flashes its LED, clearing on its own once the supply recovers.

06

Commissioning

Walk test with the LEDs, which show blue for a TriTech alarm, yellow for microwave and red for PIR, then disable the walk test LED locally on the DIP switch or remotely from the keypad. A remote self test drives the alarm relay and LED for four seconds when it passes.

07

When to call an electrician

The detector runs on low voltage from the alarm panel and needs no mains work. Use a licensed electrician for any new or altered fixed wiring, and a licensed security installer for the panel programming.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the ISC-PDL1-W18G

Q.01

How much area does the Bosch ISC-PDL1-W18G cover?

Its pattern is 18 m x 25 m, and a DIP switch reduces it to 8 m x 10 m for a smaller room. The recommended mounting height is 2 m to 3 m.
Q.02

What makes it a TriTech detector?

It combines passive infrared with a 10.525 GHz microwave transceiver, and both subsystems are supervised. Sensor data fusion brings in a room temperature sensor and a white light level sensor as well before deciding.
Q.03

Is it pet friendly?

It has small animal immunity for animals under 4.5 kg, such as rodents. A larger dog is outside what this detector is designed to discount.
Q.04

What happens if someone tries to mask it?

Microwave anti-mask raises a supervision trouble if reflective material is placed within 30.5 cm of the detector. If the microwave subsystem fails, the detector continues as a single-technology PIR.
Q.05

What do the LED colours mean?

Blue indicates a TriTech alarm, yellow indicates microwave detection and red indicates PIR detection, with self-adjusting brightness. The walk test LED can be enabled or disabled locally on the DIP switch or remotely from a keypad.
Q.06

How does it connect to the panel?

Through a power-supervised normally-closed solid-state alarm relay rated 3 W, 125 mA, 25 VDC, a normally-closed tamper that goes to a 24-hour protection circuit, and a separate trouble relay.
Q.07

How much power does it draw?

It runs from 9 VDC to 15 VDC, drawing 13 mA on standby and under 25 mA at most. Below 8 V it reports a low input power trouble.
Q.08

Can it be used outdoors?

No. It is rated IP41 and IK04 for indoor commercial use, from -29°C to +55°C, or 0°C to +49°C for UL certificated installations.
Q.09

Is it approved for Australian government sites?

It holds C-Tick and SCEC approval in Australia. The warranty is 60 Months.

§ 10Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Pair it with a panel zone that can take it

The Bosch ISC-PDL1-W18G wants a spare zone plus a 24-hour tamper circuit and, ideally, an input for its trouble relay. The CC610P is the Solution 6000 board sold here; check its zone and trouble inputs against the relay figures on this page before pairing.

02

Add the ceiling bracket for an open floor

A warehouse or showroom often has no wall in the right place. The B338 universal ceiling bracket swivels 7° up to 16° down and 45° either side, aiming the pattern from above.

03

Fill the smaller rooms from the same range

Using one detector family across a site keeps the walk test and the fault finding consistent. The ISC-BPR2-W12 is the Bosch detector sold here for rooms that do not need an 18 m pattern; its own page carries its coverage.
