§ 01Overview

What the IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1 is

The Uniview IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1 is the camera to fit where the picture matters more than the price of the cable. The 1/2.7" sensor reads 6MP at 3072x2048 and 25fps, and drops to 4MP or 1080P at 30fps when smoother movement matters more than pixel count. LightHunter is Uniview's low-light processing, holding colour down to 0.002 lux at F1.6; below that the infrared takes over to 40m at 850nm, and the picture goes to black and white.

Hard scenes are where it earns its keep. 130dB true WDR keeps a face readable against a bright doorway behind it, HLC pulls back headlights, BLC lifts a backlit subject, and 2D and 3D noise reduction cleans the grain that low light brings. Smart IR stops a close subject blowing out under the infrared, and digital defog cuts through haze. A 9:16 corridor mode turns the sensor sideways for a driveway or a hallway.

The analytics run in the camera. Smart Intrusion Prevention covers cross line, intrusion, enter area and leave area detection, and it classifies what it sees as a human, a motor vehicle or a non-motor vehicle, which is what filters out the cat and the moving branch. Face capture, people flow counting and crowd density monitoring are on the same chip, along with motion, ultra motion, tampering and audio detection.

What it does not have matters too. There is a built-in microphone but no speaker, no two-way audio and no alarm input or output, so it records sound and cannot talk back or trigger a siren by itself. Storage is a microSD card of up to 256 GB, with ANR to a recorder and NAS over NFS.

It runs on PoE 802.3af or 12V DC, drawing at most 6.5W, with 4KV surge protection. The housing is metal and plastic at 129 mm across and 110mm deep, weighs 0.43kg, is rated IP67 and works from -30°C to 60°C. It speaks ONVIF Profile S, G and T for third-party recorders, and the warranty is 36 Months.

See it in action

What the IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1 features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

6MP Ultra HD

6MP captures around three times the detail of 1080p. Plenty of resolution to zoom into a face or number plate part-way down the driveway and still read it clearly.

40m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared sees in total darkness up to around 40m, reaching further across a larger yard or laneway. Subjects appear in clear black-and-white, sharper and brighter as they get closer.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

False Alarm Reduction

Filtering helps separate real activity from harmless movement like rain, leaves or pets, so you get fewer pointless notifications and the alerts that matter stand out.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1

Faces stay readable against a bright background

The Uniview IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1 has 130dB true WDR, which handles the gap between a dark porch and the sky behind it. HLC pulls back headlights and BLC lifts a subject standing against the light.

Colour holds longer after dark

LightHunter processing with an F1.6 lens keeps colour down to 0.002 lux. Below that the infrared reaches 40m and the picture goes to black and white rather than to nothing.

Fewer alerts you learn to ignore

Smart Intrusion Prevention classifies what crosses the line as a human, a motor vehicle or a non-motor vehicle before it raises an alarm. Cross line, intrusion, enter area and leave area are all covered.

It counts as well as it watches

Face capture, people flow counting and crowd density monitoring run in the camera itself. A shopfront gets a door count without a separate sensor.

Recording survives a network dropout

A microSD card of up to 256 GB sits in the camera, and ANR caches to it when the link to the recorder fails, transferring the footage back afterwards. Edge storage also suits a camera running on its own.

One cable, and it lives outside

PoE 802.3af carries power and video on the same run at no more than 6.5W. The IP67 housing is rated from -30°C to 60°C, with 4KV surge protection.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Front door or porch

The Uniview IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1 mounted under an eave puts a caller inside its 6.3 m identify distance as they reach the door, and the 107.2° view takes in the approach on either side. WDR handles the bright sky behind a visitor standing in the doorway.

Driveway or carport

Mounted on a wall arm or pole bracket looking down the drive, its detect distance is rated at 63.0 m, with a figure readable much closer in, with infrared to 40m after dark. Corridor mode turns the frame 9:16 to suit a long, narrow drive.

Shopfront or workshop

The built-in microphone records sound with the picture, and people flow counting and crowd density monitoring turn the entrance into a counter. Vehicle and person classification keeps the alerts to things that matter.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Before you start

Unpack the Uniview IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1 and check the carton against the delivery note. The bracket, the memory card and any plug pack are separate products, so have them on site before the install rather than discovering a gap on the ladder.

02

Brackets and mounts

The camera fits flat to a soffit or ceiling, or onto the listed accessories: the TR-JB03-G-IN junction box, TR-JB07/WM03-G-IN and TR-WM03-D-IN wall mounts, TR-UM06-E-IN incline ceiling mount, TR-UP06-IN pole mount, TR-A01-IN waterproof joint and the TR-SE24-IN, TR-SE24-A-IN or TR-CM24-IN pendant mounts.

03

Cabling

Run one network cable per camera, Cat5e or Cat6, and keep each run under 100 m from the switch or recorder. Power is PoE 802.3af on that same cable, or 12V DC to the Ø 5.5mm coaxial plug if there is no PoE.

04

Keeping the joint dry

The junction at the cable tail must not be left exposed: it belongs inside a waterproof junction box, a pole chamber or corrugated or PVC pipe. A waterproof junction box must not be installed horizontally, because water pools in it. Where the joint is taped, use self-adhesive rubber tape stretched to about 200% of its length, half-overlapped, in two layers.

05

First power-up

On power-up the infrared light flashes while the camera starts, and it is usually ready after three flashes. A light that stays on, stays off or keeps flashing means it failed to start, so cross-test the cable and the power supply with a camera known to be good.

06

Recording, recorder and screen

Fit a microSD card of up to 256 GB for edge storage, or add the camera to a network video recorder. A recorder needs its own surveillance-rated hard drive and a monitor on its HDMI or VGA output, and it belongs in a ventilated indoor spot near the router, not in a sealed roof space. For phone viewing, turn on EZCloud under Setup and EZCloud on the camera, then scan the QR code in EZView under Devices, Add, Scan, and allow a couple of minutes for it to connect.

07

When you need an electrician

Only for a new power point or for cabling inside a wall cavity, and that work is for a licensed electrician. The camera itself runs on PoE or low-voltage DC and needs no mains work.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1

Q.01

How far can the Uniview IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1 see at night?

The infrared reaches up to 40m at 850nm. Before it gets that dark, LightHunter holds a colour picture down to 0.002 lux, and the camera switches to black and white as the infrared comes on.
Q.02

What do the DORI distances mean in practice?

They are the ranges at which a person is detected at 63.0 m, observed at 25.2 m, recognised at 12.6 m and identified at 6.3 m. Identification needs the subject much closer than mere detection does.
Q.03

Does it have a speaker or two-way audio?

No. It has a built-in microphone and records sound, but there is no speaker, no two-way audio and no alarm input or output.
Q.04

Will it work with a recorder from another brand?

It supports ONVIF Profile S, G and T, so a recorder that speaks the same protocol can take it. Add it with the camera IP address, its port, usually 80, and its web login.
Q.05

The camera is online on my recorder but shows no picture. What now?

Try turning off RTSP authentication on the camera, changing the video compression to H.264, or turning off U-code. Change one at a time so it is clear which one made the difference.
Q.06

Can it record without a recorder?

Yes. A microSD card of up to 256 GB gives edge storage, which suits a camera running on its own. With a recorder, ANR caches to that card during a network dropout and transfers the footage back afterwards.
Q.07

Why is there no sound in my recordings?

Audio input and the microphone channel have to be switched on at the camera under Setup, Video and Audio. The recorder also needs the audio stream enabled for that channel under Setup, Camera, Encoding.
Q.08

What WDR level should I use?

Use level 7 or higher where there is high contrast between bright and dark parts of the scene. Where contrast is low, turn WDR off or use levels 1 to 6.
Q.09

Can it go outdoors in the weather?

Yes. It is rated IP67 and works from -30°C to 60°C with humidity up to 95% non-condensing, and it has 4KV surge protection.

§ 10Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Add a PoE recorder or switch

The Uniview IPC3616SS-ADF28K-I1 takes power and video over one cable using PoE 802.3af at no more than 6.5W. Check the recorder or switch supports 802.3af and has a spare port before ordering.

02

Add a microSD card

A card of up to 256 GB gives the camera edge storage and lets ANR fill in a gap if the network to the recorder drops. Order one per camera, since the slot takes a single card.

03

Add the right bracket

A soffit or ceiling takes the camera directly, but a wall, pole or pendant run needs a mount from the listed accessories, and an exposed cable joint needs a waterproof junction box or the TR-A01-IN waterproof joint. Choose the bracket with the camera so the install is not held up.
