§ 01Overview

What this product is

Lens: 2.8mm.

The DH-IPC-HFW3849T1-AS-PV-PRO is the most capable fixed-lens camera in the entire 3849 range. Colour is rated to 0.0004 lux — ten times less light than the standard S2 needs — and both the infrared and the warm light reach 50 metres, where every other fixed TiOC stops at 30. AI-ISP processing and a large-pixel sensor do the work; the 109° lens identifies faces to about 8.2 metres.

The deterrence is also the strongest in the family: the built-in speaker is lab-rated at 110dB (measured at 10cm) behind the red and blue lights and voice warnings, with warm-light full-colour event capture, two-way talk through dual mics, and one-tap disarming in DMSS. SMD 4.0 with AI SSA filters the alerts, AcuPick works on compatible recorders, MicroSD backup reaches 512GB, and ONVIF conformance extends to Profile M.

One requirement to plan for: full output draws 15.1W, which needs an 802.3at (PoE+) port — standard 802.3af budgets fall short with everything firing. Check your NVR or switch port rating before ordering, or run the camera on a 12V DC supply. IP67, metal-and-plastic housing, -40°C to +60°C.

§ 02Engineering

Technical specifications

- 0.0004 lux Colour Rating: AI-ISP and a large-pixel sensor hold colour at a tenth of the light the standard S2 needs — the strongest rating in the range.
- 50m IR + 50m Warm Light: the longest fixed-lens night reach in the family, against 30m on standard models.
- Strongest Speaker in the Range: lab-rated 110dB at 10cm behind the red and blue lights and voice alarms.
- AcuPick Support + SMD 4.0: person-matching search on AcuPick-capable recorders; AI SSA re-tunes the image as conditions change.
- Two-Way Talk + 512GB MicroSD: dual mics and speaker in the DMSS app, with the larger SD ceiling of the PRO generation.
- PoE+ (802.3at) Powered: 15.1W at full output — plan the port budget, or use a 12V DC supply.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use it

01

The range's night-vision ceiling

0.0004 lux colour and 50 metres of illumination — scenes that put every other fixed TiOC into grey infrared stay in colour here, at distances they can't light at all.

02

Deterrence with real reach

The lights, voice warnings and the family's strongest speaker cover a yard, not just a doorway — and the 109° lens identifies to 8.2 metres.

03

Current-generation everything

SMD 4.0, AI SSA, AcuPick support, ONVIF Profile M, 512GB SD — nothing on the spec sheet is the old version.

04

Check your PoE budget first

Honest requirement: full output needs an 802.3at (PoE+) port at 15.1W. On a standard 802.3af port the better pick is the S2 bullet — or budget a PoE+ switch alongside this camera.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

01

Long rural and acreage approaches

50 metres of illumination covers a driveway or paddock entrance no 30m camera reaches, with colour held off starlight-level ambient.

02

Commercial yards and loading docks

Big dark spaces with high ceilings for noise — the strongest speaker in the range and dual-mic audio evidence where state rules allow.

03

Carparks and laneway runs

The bullet body aims down the run; 0.0004 lux keeps vehicle colours readable under failing sodium lights where other cameras show grey.

04

The one dark corner that defeats everything else

Buy one PRO for the genuinely black spot and run standard S2 cameras everywhere else on the same recorder.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the Box

1. Dahua DH-IPC-HFW3849T1-AS-PV-PRO Camera × 1 2. Power Connector × 1 3. Quick Start Guide × 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Power: any 802.3at PoE+ NVR port or switch (6.2W typical, 15.1W max with the lights and speaker running). A separate 12V DC adapter is only needed without PoE. 2. Network: a wired Ethernet run back to your NVR or switch — PoE carries power and video together on the same line. 3. Mounting: solid wall or pole with the body aimed along the line you're guarding. The optional PFA130-E junction box keeps the connection weatherproof.

03

App Setup

1. Download the DMSS app, create an account and scan the device QR code. 2. Enable push notifications, and keep the one-tap disarm switch handy for expected visitors. 3. Draw tripwire and intrusion zones tight to your own property through the camera's web interface — the warning voice, light behaviour and schedules live there too.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked

Q.01

What does the PRO bullet add over the standard S2 bullet?

Night capability, mostly: colour to 0.0004 lux against 0.004 (ten times less light needed), 50 metres of infrared and warm light against 30, a wider 109° lens identifying to 8.2 metres, the family's strongest speaker, and ONVIF Profile M. The cost is price and power — it wants an 802.3at PoE+ port for its full 15.1W. The S2 remains the right pick on standard ports and lit streets.
Q.02

Is the 110dB siren claim real?

It's Dahua's laboratory rating measured at 10 centimetres from the speaker — at conversation distance it's loud rather than painful, like any camera speaker. It is the strongest speaker in the 3849 range, but treat the number as a bench figure, not what the neighbours hear.
Q.03

How do the deterrence features actually work?

When someone crosses a tripwire or enters an intrusion zone you've drawn, the camera reacts on the spot: the red and blue lights flash, the built-in speaker plays a siren or voice warning, and the warm light switches on so the whole event records in full colour. It ships with multiple warning voices and supports importing your own recordings.
Q.04

Can I turn the lights and siren off when I don't want them?

Yes — one-tap disarming in the DMSS app pauses all event linkage while you're expecting visitors, the web interface schedules deterrence by time of day or sets light-only with no sound, and there's a wired arm/disarm option through the alarm input for integrators.
Q.05

Will the siren and strobes annoy my neighbours?

They can if zones are drawn carelessly — this is a camera that reacts out loud. Draw tripwires and intrusion zones tight to your own property so footpath traffic never triggers them, schedule sound off overnight, or run light-only mode. If the camera would face a shared driveway or a tight terrace street, the quieter 3866 WizSense turret records the same AI events without the theatrics.
Q.06

How far can it see at night?

Colour holds to 0.0004 lux — close to starlight. In total darkness both the infrared and the warm light reach 50 metres, the longest fixed-lens illumination in the range; detected events record in full colour under the warm light.
Q.07

Do I really need PoE+ for this camera?

For full output, yes: 15.1W maximum exceeds what many 802.3af budgets deliver. Options are an 802.3at (PoE+) NVR port or switch, or a separate 12V DC supply. Basic streaming draws 6.2W — it's the lights, warm light and speaker together that push the peak.
Q.08

Should I pick a bullet or a turret?

The bullet body is the visible one — from the street it reads as 'this property is covered', which is itself a layer of deterrence, and the long body aims naturally down fence lines and driveways. A turret like the HDW3849 S2 tucks under eaves more discreetly and suits ceilings. Same AI and deterrence either way — pick by mounting position and how visible you want the hardware.
Q.09

What is AcuPick and what do I need to use it?

AcuPick is Dahua's newest search: pick a person or vehicle in playback and the recorder matches them across every camera and timeline in seconds. It needs an AcuPick-capable Dahua recorder — on the AI NVRs in our kits you get SMD 4.0 classification and Quick Pick search, which still pulls every human or vehicle event from a day of footage in one pass.
Q.10

Which NVR do I need for this camera?

Any current Dahua PoE NVR records it. SMD classification, Quick Pick search and full event linkage want an AI model such as the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ or DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ used in our kits.
Q.11

Will it work with a non-Dahua NVR?

Yes — ONVIF conformant on Profiles S, G, T and M, the widest conformance in the family. You keep video and motion events; SMD classification and the light-and-siren linkage need a Dahua AI NVR.
Q.12

Can I use this camera without an NVR?

You can — it takes a MicroSD card up to 512GB (not included), streams to the DMSS app, and the deterrence features work stand-alone. Most buyers still pair it with an NVR for longer retention and AI search; treat the SD slot as backup.
Q.13

Can I talk through the camera from my phone?

Yes — dual built-in microphones and a speaker give genuine two-way talk through the DMSS app: hear what's happening and speak to whoever is there, live.
Q.14

Is a Dahua camera safe to use in Australia?

Dahua equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This camera does not need a cloud account: it records to your NVR, works fully offline, and supports HTTPS and firmware encryption. If you want zero outbound traffic, put the system on an isolated network — it still records locally.
Q.15

Which 3849 bullet should I buy?

Five bullets share the red and blue lights and siren voices. The S2 is the current TiOC 3.0 pick with SMD 4.0 and AcuPick support. The PRO is the night flagship — colour to 0.0004 lux and 50 metres of illumination, with the strongest speaker in the range. The ZAS adds a motorised 2.7–13.5mm zoom for gates and long driveways. The ANZ is the previous TiOC 2.0 generation — still SMD 4.0 and two-way talk, without AcuPick. The S3 is the oldest and cheapest path in, on SMD 3.0 without two-way talk.
Q.16

What warranty coverage applies in Australia?

The camera includes a 3-year warranty covering defects. Installation labour is not covered.

01

One PRO, standard everywhere else

Most properties have one approach that's genuinely dark and long — put the PRO there and run S2 bullets or S2 turrets on the rest; the AI behaves identically across them.

02

Build it into a system

Use the bundle builder on this page to pair the camera with a Dahua AI NVR and surveillance drive — confirm the NVR's PoE+ port budget for this camera's 15.1W draw.

03

Turret version

The TiOC PRO turret brings PRO night performance (0.0008 lux) to under-eave mounts on standard PoE.
