§ 01Overview

What the DS-2DF3C400SCG-D/4G/WL15(F1) is

The Hikvision DS-2DF3C400SCG-D/4G/WL15(F1) is not a general security camera; it is a purpose-built flood and water-management tool that combines a 4 MP PTZ dome with a millimetre-wave radar.

The radar measures the distance to a water surface 15 m with an accuracy of about 1 mm, so it tracks the level of a river, dam, reservoir, drain or urban flood zone far more precisely than a visual estimate, and it reports that level alongside the live video.

That makes it a fit for water authorities, councils and environmental agencies that need real numbers, not just pictures.

On the imaging side it is a capable colour-at-night camera.

A 1/1.8" sensor and an F1.0 aperture, backed by a white supplement light up to 30 m, hold full-colour video in the dark, and 120 dB Wide Dynamic Range copes with bright reflections off water against shaded banks.

The dome pans up to 340 degrees and tilts from -20 to 90 degrees with 300 preset positions and patrols, so one unit can watch a stretch of waterway and return to the measurement point on a schedule.

The lens is a fixed 4 mm; the camera moves on its pan and tilt rather than zooming optically.

It is built to sit out in the weather at a remote site.

The housing is IP67 against dust and water and IK10 against impact, with 6000 V surge protection, a heater and defog for cold and damp, and an operating range down to -30 degrees C.

It connects over 4G, so it works at a riverbank or culvert with no fixed internet, and it draws under a watt in standby to suit solar and battery power.

A 4G data SIM is required and is not included.

Note that this model's analytics are focused on water-level radar; it is not a human and vehicle detection security camera, and its audio terminals are line in and out only, without a built-in microphone or speaker.

What the DS-2DF3C400SCG-D/4G/WL15(F1) features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

4MP Ultra HD

4MP captures roughly twice the detail of standard 1080p.

Full Color Night Vision

Unlike plain black-and-white night vision, this camera can capture colour after dark — so you can pick out the actual colour of a car, a jacket or a bag, detail that grey infrared footage loses.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2DF3C400SCG-D/4G/WL15(F1)

Precise water-level data

Built-in radar reads the water surface to about 1 mm from 0.15 to 15 m, giving councils and water authorities real numbers, not a visual guess.

Sees the site in colour at night

An F1.0 lens and white light to 30 m keep full-colour video after dark, so you can judge flooding and debris at any hour.

Works off-grid and remote

4G connectivity and under-a-watt standby let it run on solar at a riverbank or culvert with no power or internet.

Built for flood zones

IP67 and IK10 with surge protection, a heater and defog stand up to storms, impact and cold at exposed sites.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Flood early-warning

Track a river or urban flood zone in real numbers and pictures, so authorities get advance notice as levels rise.

Dams and reservoirs

Monitor storage levels with millimetre accuracy and keep a visual record of the structure and surrounds.

Stormwater and drainage

Watch culverts and drains during heavy rain, measuring how close they are to capacity.

Environmental monitoring

Give water and environmental agencies a remote, solar-capable station that logs level and video together.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

Camera and mounting hardware with the quick start guide. A 4G data SIM, microSD card, solar or mains power and any pole or bracket are arranged separately.

02

Mounting

Fix it above the water surface on a pole, bridge or bank so the radar has a clear line to the water within its 15 m, and the pan and tilt can also view the surrounds.

03

Power and SIM

Provide 12 VDC from a solar-and-battery kit or mains supply, and fit a 4G data SIM with a suitable plan. The low standby draw suits solar at a remote site.

04

Setup tips

Aim and calibrate the radar at the measurement point, set presets and patrols for the views you want, and place the unit and any solar panel for strong mobile signal and good sun.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2DF3C400SCG-D/4G/WL15(F1)

Q.01

What does the DS-2DF3C400SCG-D/4G/WL15 actually measure?

It measures the level of a water surface using a built-in millimetre-wave radar. 15 metres it reads the distance to the water to within about 1 millimetre, and it reports that level alongside the live video, which suits flood monitoring and water management.
Q.02

How accurate is the water-level reading?

The radar is accurate to about plus or minus 1 millimetre over its 15 metre range. That is far more precise than judging a level by eye from camera footage, which is why it is used by water authorities and councils.
Q.03

Is this a normal security camera as well?

It records good full-colour video and pans and tilts, so it can watch a site, but its analytics are built around water-level radar rather than human and vehicle detection. Treat it as a specialised flood-monitoring camera, not a general perimeter security camera.
Q.04

Does it film in colour at night?

Yes. An F1.0 aperture and a white supplement light up to 30 metres keep the night image in full colour, which helps you see the state of a waterway and any debris or flooding after dark.
Q.05

How does it connect at a remote riverbank?

It uses the 4G mobile network. A data SIM lets it send video and level data over mobile data from a culvert, riverbank or dam with no fixed internet, as long as there is mobile coverage. The SIM is required and not included.
Q.06

Can it run on solar power?

Yes. It draws under a watt in standby, so a solar panel and battery can keep it running off-grid at a remote monitoring point. Confirm your solar and battery sizing for the duty cycle you need.
Q.07

Does it zoom optically?

No. It has a fixed 4 mm lens and covers the scene by panning and tilting rather than optical zoom. Its strength is the radar measurement and the wide pan-and-tilt view of a waterway, not long-range zoom.
Q.08

Is it tough enough for severe weather?

Yes. It is rated IP67 against dust and water and IK10 against impact, with 6000 V surge protection, a heater and defog, and an operating range down to -30 degrees C, so it suits exposed riverbanks and flood zones.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record and review it

Where a wired hub is available, send the video to a Hikvision NVR such as the 8-channel DS-7608NI-I2/8P with a surveillance drive like the 6 TB drive; at a remote site it records to its own microSD card.

02

Add a long-range PTZ for security

Where you also want general surveillance of the site, pair it with the DS-2DF5225X-AE3 PTZ for a zoomable security view alongside the flood-monitoring unit.

03

Store footage on the camera

Fit a microSD card up to 256 GB so video and level events are kept locally even when the 4G link is busy or briefly drops.
