§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF is

The Hikvision DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF is an 8 MP, 4K Turbo HD turret with a motorised zoom, the high-resolution option for sites upgrading a coax system that still want to frame the view from the ground.

It sends a 3840 x 2160 image down existing coax and switches between TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS, so it works with almost any 8 MP-capable HD analog DVR.

An ultra-low-light sensor and 130 dB Wide Dynamic Range keep the picture clear where a bright sky meets a shaded wall.

The motorised 2.7 to 13.5 mm varifocal lens lets you set the zoom and focus remotely, from a wide 108-degree view down to a tighter 45-degree long-range shot, so a single camera covers a broad forecourt or reaches along a driveway without a return visit.

Auto-focus sharpens the image each time you change the zoom.

EXIR 2.0 lights the scene up to 60 m and spreads the infrared evenly, and the night image is black and white under infrared as expected for an infrared turret.

At 8 MP you keep more detail when you zoom into recorded footage after an event.

Two points to plan around.

First, this is an analog camera, so it connects to a DVR over coax and is powered by a local 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply; it does not use PoE or plug into an IP NVR.

Second, to keep the full 8 MP image you need a DVR that records at 8 MP Turbo HD, and Up-the-Coax control lets you reach the on-screen menu and the zoom from a supporting recorder.

The metal turret is IP67 rated for dust and water.

Record it to a Hikvision 8 MP Turbo HD DVR.

What the DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

8MP Ultra HD

8MP (4K) resolution captures four times the detail of 1080p.
Even when a person or car is far down the driveway, you can zoom in and still recognise a face or read a number plate — detail that lower-resolution cameras lose.

60m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared sees in total darkness up to around 60m, covering long driveways and large properties. Even well away from the house, people and vehicles remain clear in black-and-white.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF

4K detail over coax

At 8 MP it records 3840 x 2160 detail down existing coax, so you can zoom into footage after an event and still read the scene.

Frame the view from the ground

The motorised 2.7 to 13.5 mm lens is set remotely, so one camera covers a wide area or reaches a long driveway without a ladder.

Upgrade without rewiring

It runs over existing coax and works with 8 MP-capable HD analog DVRs, so there is no network cabling to pull.

Long, even night vision

EXIR 2.0 reaches up to 60 m and spreads light evenly, so the edges of the scene are lit and close objects are not washed out.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Key approaches and gates

The 8 MP detail and motorised zoom suit an entrance or gate where you need to read faces and plates at distance.

Forecourts and car parks

Set a wide view for the whole area or zoom onto an entry, all from one mounting point, with detail to spare.

Analog 4K upgrades

Bring 8 MP detail to an existing coax system without moving to IP cameras and an NVR.

Building faces and perimeters

Frame a wall or boundary at the width you need, with WDR for bright-against-shade scenes.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

Camera, mounting template and screw pack, and the quick start guide. A DVR, coax cabling and a 12 VDC or 24 VAC power supply are bought separately.

02

Mounting

Surface-mount the turret to a wall, eave or ceiling and angle it along the view you want. The IP67 metal body suits exposed positions.

03

Wiring and power

Run coax back to an 8 MP-capable DVR for video and a 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply for power. Set the output format to match the DVR before fixing the camera.

04

Setup tips

Use Up-the-Coax control to set the motorised zoom and focus from the DVR, and aim the infrared away from nearby walls to avoid glare in the picture.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF

Q.01

Do I need a special DVR to get the full 8 MP from this camera?

Yes. To keep the full 4K image you need a DVR that records at 8 MP Turbo HD. An older recorder will down-sample the picture to its own maximum, so the recorder sets the resolution you actually keep. Match it with an 8 MP-capable Hikvision DVR.
Q.02

What does the motorised lens do?

It lets you set the zoom and focus remotely from a supporting DVR rather than adjusting the lens by hand. You can frame from a wide 108-degree view to a tighter 45-degree long-range shot, and the camera auto-focuses each time you change the zoom.
Q.03

Can it use my existing coax cable?

Yes. It is a Turbo HD analog camera, so it runs an 8 MP image over existing coax and outputs TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS to suit almost any 8 MP-capable HD analog DVR, without pulling new cable.
Q.04

Does it connect to an NVR or use PoE?

No. This is an analog camera, so it connects to a DVR over coax and is powered by a local 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply. It does not use PoE and does not plug into an IP NVR.
Q.05

How far does the night vision reach, and is it colour?

EXIR 2.0 reaches up to 60 metres and spreads the infrared evenly across the scene. The night image is black and white under infrared, as expected for an infrared turret.
Q.06

Does this camera have audio?

No. The datasheet lists no audio input or output, so this model is video only. If you need sound, choose a camera with a built-in microphone or an audio-over-coax model.
Q.07

How do I change the zoom after it is installed?

Use Up-the-Coax control from a supporting DVR. It lets you open the camera's on-screen menu and adjust the motorised zoom and focus through the same coax cable, with no separate control wire.
Q.08

Is it suitable for outdoors?

Yes. The metal turret is rated IP67 against dust and water, with an operating range down to -40 degrees C, so it handles eaves, walls and open yards across Australian conditions.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record it on an 8 MP Turbo HD DVR

Connect it to a Hikvision 8 MP Turbo HD recorder such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S, which takes the full 8 MP image, then add a larger surveillance drive like the 8 TB drive for weeks of 4K footage.

02

Pair it with a wide companion

Add a wide fixed camera such as the DS-2CE16H8T-ITF bullet on the same DVR so you get both detail at distance and full-scene context.

03

Power and cabling

Use a 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply at the camera and your existing coax back to the DVR. There is no PoE on an analog camera, so plan a local power source at each position.
