§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CE16H8T-ITF is

The Hikvision DS-2CE16H8T-ITF is a 5 MP Turbo HD mini bullet, an easy way to lift an existing coax-cabled system to high definition without pulling new network cable.

It sends a 2560 x 1944 image down the same coax you already have.

A 130 dB Wide Dynamic Range and a 0.003 lux low-light rating keep the picture readable where a bright sky meets a shaded wall.

The 2.8 mm fixed lens gives a wide view of about 98 degrees, which suits a driveway, a yard or the face of a building from a single mounting point.

EXIR 2.0 Smart IR lights the scene up to 30 m and spreads the infrared evenly to avoid the hot centre and dark edges of older bullets, while Smart IR pulls back the light on close objects so they are not washed out.

The image at night is black and white under infrared, as expected for an infrared bullet; 3.6 mm and 6 mm versions exist if you want a narrower, longer view.

Two points to plan around.

First, this is an analog camera, so it connects to a DVR over coax and is powered by a local 12 VDC supply; it does not use PoE or plug into an IP NVR.

Second, the metal body is rated IP67 against dust and water with an operating range down to -40 degrees C, so it handles eaves, walls and open yards across Australian conditions.

Its small 158 mm body keeps it discreet on a shopfront or a home.

Pair it with a Hikvision Turbo HD DVR that records at 5 MP to keep the full image.

What the DS-2CE16H8T-ITF features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CE16H8T-ITF

Upgrade without rewiring

It runs a 5 MP image over the coax you already have, so you lift an old analog system to high definition without pulling network cable.

Works with almost any DVR

TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS output means it suits HD analog and older recorders alike, rather than locking you to one brand.

Even, glare-free night vision

EXIR 2.0 Smart IR spreads light up to 30 m and dims close objects, so the whole scene is lit without a washed-out centre.

Small, tough and affordable

A 130 dB WDR image in a compact IP67 metal body at a low price makes it an easy choice for budget-led upgrades.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Analog system upgrades

Replace ageing standard-definition cameras on existing coax with a 5 MP image and no new cabling.

Homes and shopfronts

The small body stays discreet on a house or shop while the wide 2.8 mm lens covers an entrance and approach.

Driveways and yards

Up to 30 m of even infrared and a wide view cover a driveway or a yard after dark.

Budget-led sites

A low-cost way to add high-definition outdoor cover where an IP system is not justified.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

Camera, mounting template and screw pack, and the quick start guide. A DVR, coax cabling and a 12 VDC power supply are bought separately.

02

Mounting

Surface-mount the bullet to a wall or eave and angle it along the view you want. The IP67 metal body suits exposed positions.

03

Wiring and power

Run coax back to the DVR for video and a 12 VDC supply for power. Set the output format to match the DVR before you fix the camera in place.

04

Setup tips

Choose TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS to match your recorder, and aim the infrared away from nearby walls to avoid glare in the picture.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CE16H8T-ITF

Q.01

Can the DS-2CE16H8T-ITF use my existing coax cable?

Yes. That is the point of it. It is a Turbo HD analog camera, so it sends a 5 MP image down the same coax an older analog system already uses, which lets you upgrade to high definition without pulling new network cable.
Q.02

Does it connect to an NVR or use PoE?

No. This is an analog camera, so it connects to a DVR over coax and is powered by a local 12 VDC supply. It does not use PoE and does not plug into an IP NVR. Use a Hikvision Turbo HD DVR such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S with it.
Q.03

How far does the night vision reach, and is it colour?

EXIR 2.0 Smart IR reaches up to 30 metres and spreads the light evenly across the scene. The night image is black and white under infrared, as expected for an infrared bullet, and Smart IR dims close objects so they are not overexposed.
Q.04

What does the 2.8 mm lens cover?

The 2.8 mm fixed lens gives roughly a 98-degree wide horizontal view, a good general width for a driveway, a yard or a building face. For a narrower, longer reach, 3.6 mm and 6 mm versions of this camera are available.
Q.05

Do I need a special DVR for the full 5 MP?

Yes. Use a DVR that records at 5 MP, such as a Hikvision Turbo HD model. An older recorder may down-sample the image to its own maximum, so the recorder sets the resolution you actually keep.
Q.06

Is it suitable for outdoors?

Yes. The metal body is rated IP67 against dust and water, with an operating range down to -40 degrees C, so it handles eaves, walls and open yards across Australian conditions.
Q.07

How much power does it use?

It draws a maximum of 5.8 W from a 12 VDC supply, so a small plug-pack or a shared analog power box runs it. There is no PoE on an analog camera, so plan a local 12 VDC source at each position.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record it on a Turbo HD DVR

Connect it to a Hikvision 8 MP Turbo HD recorder such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S, which takes the full 5 MP image, then add a surveillance drive like the 6 TB drive for continuous footage.

02

Add a motorised companion

Where you need to reach further or frame a tighter view, pair it with the DS-2CE79H8T-AIT3ZF motorised varifocal turret on the same DVR.

03

Power and cabling

Use a 12 VDC supply at the camera and your existing coax back to the DVR. There is no PoE on an analog camera, so plan a local power source at each position.
