    § 01Overview

    What the DS-2CE79H8T-AIT3ZF is

The Hikvision DS-2CE79H8T-AIT3ZF is a 5 MP Turbo HD turret with a motorised zoom lens, made for sites that want to upgrade a coax system to high definition and still frame the view from the ground.

It sends a 2560 x 1944 image down existing coax and switches between TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS, so it works with almost any HD analog or older DVR.

An ultra-low-light sensor and 130 dB Wide Dynamic Range keep the picture readable where a bright sky meets a shaded yard.

The motorised 2.7 to 13.5 mm varifocal lens is the reason to choose this turret over a fixed-lens model.

You set the zoom and focus remotely, from a wide 92-degree view down to a tighter 29-degree long-range shot, so the same camera covers a broad forecourt or reaches along a driveway without a return visit to the camera.

EXIR 2.0 lights the scene up to 60 m and spreads the infrared evenly, and the night image is black and white under infrared as expected for an infrared turret.

    Two points to plan around.

First, this is an analog camera, so it connects to a DVR over coax and is powered by a local 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply; it does not use PoE or plug into an IP NVR.

Second, Up-the-Coax control lets you reach the on-screen menu and the zoom from a supporting DVR, so you set the camera without a separate cable.

The metal turret is IP67 rated for dust and water.

Record it to a Hikvision Turbo HD DVR that supports the 5 MP image.

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

    60m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared sees in total darkness up to around 60m, covering long driveways and large properties. Even well away from the house, people and vehicles remain clear in black-and-white.

    IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

    § 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CE79H8T-AIT3ZF

Frame the view from the ground

The motorised 2.7 to 13.5 mm lens is set remotely, so one camera covers a wide area or reaches a long driveway without a ladder.

    Upgrade without rewiring

It runs a 5 MP image over existing coax and works with almost any HD analog DVR, so there is no network cabling to pull.

    Long, even night vision

EXIR 2.0 reaches up to 60 m and spreads light evenly, so the edges of the scene are lit and close objects are not washed out.

    Easy to adjust later

Up-the-Coax control lets you change the zoom and settings from the DVR through the same cable, with no separate control wire.

    § 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

    Driveways and long approaches

Zoom the lens to reach a gate or along a driveway after dark, with up to 60 m of even infrared.

    Forecourts and car parks

Set a wide view for the whole forecourt or zoom onto an entry, all from one mounting point.

    Analog system upgrades

Add a high-definition, zoomable camera to an existing coax system without moving to IP and an NVR.

    Building faces and perimeters

Frame a wall or boundary at the width you need, with WDR for bright-against-shade scenes.

    § 06Setup

    Installation & setup

    01

    In the box

Camera, mounting template and screw pack, and the quick start guide. A DVR, coax cabling and a 12 VDC or 24 VAC power supply are bought separately.

    02

    Mounting

Surface-mount the turret to a wall, eave or ceiling and angle it along the view you want. The IP67 metal body suits exposed positions.

    03

    Wiring and power

Run coax back to the DVR for video and a 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply for power. Set the output format to match the DVR before fixing the camera.

    04

    Setup tips

Use Up-the-Coax control to set the motorised zoom and focus from the DVR, and aim the infrared away from nearby walls to avoid glare in the picture.

    § 07Questions

    Frequently asked about the DS-2CE79H8T-AIT3ZF

    Q.01

What does the motorised lens on the DS-2CE79H8T-AIT3ZF do?

It lets you set the zoom and focus remotely from a supporting DVR, instead of adjusting the lens by hand on a ladder. You can frame anywhere from a wide 92-degree view to a tighter 29-degree long-range shot.
    Q.02

Can it use my existing coax cable and DVR?

Yes. It is a Turbo HD analog camera, so it runs a 5 MP image over existing coax and outputs TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS to suit almost any HD analog DVR. Use a DVR that records at 5 MP to keep the full resolution.
    Q.03

Does it connect to an NVR or use PoE?

No. This is an analog camera, so it connects to a DVR over coax and is powered by a local 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply. It does not use PoE and does not plug into an IP NVR.
    Q.04

How far does the night vision reach, and is it colour?

EXIR 2.0 reaches up to 60 metres and spreads the infrared evenly across the scene. The night image is black and white under infrared, as expected for an infrared turret.
    Q.05

How do I change the zoom after it is installed?

Use Up-the-Coax control from a supporting DVR. It lets you open the camera's on-screen menu and adjust the motorised zoom and focus through the same coax cable, with no separate control wire.
    Q.06

Does this camera have a microphone or audio?

No. The datasheet lists no audio input or output, so this model is video only. If you need sound, choose a camera with a built-in microphone or an audio-over-coax model.
    Q.07

    What power does it need?

It runs on a 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply and draws up to 10.5 W. There is no PoE on an analog camera, so plan a local power source at the camera position.
    Q.08

    Is it suitable for outdoors?

Yes. The metal turret is rated IP67 against dust and water, with an operating range down to -40 degrees C, so it handles eaves, walls and open yards across Australian conditions.

    § 09Bundles

    Recommended packages

    01

Record it on a Turbo HD DVR

Connect it to a Hikvision 8 MP Turbo HD recorder such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S, which takes the full 5 MP image, then add a surveillance drive like the 6 TB drive for continuous footage.

    02

Pair it with an 8 MP turret

For higher detail on a key approach, run it alongside the DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF on the same DVR.

    03

    Power and cabling

Use a 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply at the camera and your existing coax back to the DVR. There is no PoE on an analog camera, so plan a local power source at each position.
