§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CE59H8T-AVPIT3ZF is

The Hikvision DS-2CE59H8T-AVPIT3ZF is a 5 MP Turbo HD outdoor dome that upgrades an existing analog site to high definition over its coaxial cable. The big advantage over a fixed-lens dome is the motorised 2.7 to 13.5 mm varifocal lens: you set the zoom and focus remotely, so you can dial in a tight doorway or a wider forecourt without opening the camera. Being an analog camera, it connects to a Turbo HD DVR rather than a network recorder and does not use PoE.

A switchable 4-in-1 output runs as TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS to match almost any HD analog DVR. The 5 MP ultra-low-light sensor holds a usable picture in dim conditions, 130 dB true Wide Dynamic Range balances bright and dark areas in the same frame, and EXIR infrared reaches up to 60 m at night. As with any infrared camera, the night image is black and white. Up-the-coax control lets you reach the menu and adjust the lens from a compatible DVR.

This is a metal, vandal-resistant dome rated IP67 and IK10, so it suits exposed entrances, shopfronts and undercover car parks where a camera could be knocked or tampered with. It is powered by 12 VDC or 24 VAC from a separate supply. For an existing coax site that needs an adjustable, tough dome at 5 MP, it is a practical upgrade; if you want network features and analytics, an IP dome is the alternative to weigh up.

60m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared sees in total darkness up to around 60m, covering long driveways and large properties. Even well away from the house, people and vehicles remain clear in black-and-white.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CE59H8T-AVPIT3ZF

Set the angle remotely

A motorised 2.7 to 13.5 mm lens lets you zoom and focus from the DVR without opening the dome.

Upgrade over coax

Get 5 MP on your existing analog cabling, changing the camera and DVR rather than the wiring.

Tough and tamper-resistant

An IP67, IK10 vandal-resistant metal dome suits exposed entrances and public areas.

Clear in hard light

130 dB true WDR and an ultra-low-light sensor balance bright and dark areas day and night.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Shopfronts and entrances

Frame a doorway exactly with the motorised lens and resist tampering with the IK10 dome.

Undercover car parks

Cover a bay or ramp and adjust the zoom remotely as the layout changes.

Analog system upgrades

Step an older coax dome site up to an adjustable 5 MP camera without new cable.

Reception and foyers

Balance bright glass against a darker interior with 130 dB true WDR.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DS-2CE59H8T-AVPIT3ZF dome camera with a mounting template, fixings and a quick guide. The DVR, coaxial cable and 12 VDC or 24 VAC power supply are supplied separately.

02

Installation requirements

Mount it on a wall or ceiling over the area to cover, run coaxial cable back to a Turbo HD DVR, and provide 12 VDC or 24 VAC power. Set the output format to match your DVR, then use the up-the-coax menu to set the motorised zoom and focus. This is not a PoE or network camera, so no network switch is needed.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CE59H8T-AVPIT3ZF

Q.01

Is the DS-2CE59H8T-AVPIT3ZF a network or analog camera?

It is an analog Turbo HD (TVI 4.0) camera, not an IP camera. It sends 5 MP video over coaxial cable to a DVR, so it does not use a network cable or PoE. It suits upgrading an existing analog dome to high definition.
Q.02

What does the motorised varifocal lens do?

The 2.7 to 13.5 mm lens is powered, so you can set the zoom and focus remotely from a compatible DVR instead of opening the dome. That makes it easy to frame a doorway, aisle or forecourt and to adjust it later without returning to the camera.
Q.03

How far does the night vision reach?

EXIR infrared reaches up to 60 m. The night image is black and white, as the camera uses infrared rather than white light. Some listings quote 80 m, but the Hikvision datasheet rates the infrared at 60 m.
Q.04

What recorder do I need?

A Turbo HD DVR that supports 5 MP cameras, such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S. The switchable 4-in-1 output also lets it work with most HD TVI, AHD or CVI DVRs you may already have.
Q.05

Is it vandal resistant?

Yes. It has an IK10-rated metal dome, which is built to withstand impact, along with an IP67 rating for dust and water. That makes it a good fit for exposed entrances and public areas.
Q.06

Can I reuse my existing coax cable?

Yes. In good condition, the coaxial cable that fed an older analog dome will carry this 5 MP signal, so you usually only change the camera and the DVR rather than re-cabling.
Q.07

How is it powered?

It runs on 12 VDC or 24 VAC from a separate supply. Unlike an IP camera it does not draw power over the coax or a network cable, so plan a suitable supply at or near the camera.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record it on a Turbo HD DVR

This is an analog camera, so it connects by coax to a Turbo HD DVR rather than a network recorder. The 8-channel iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S DVR accepts this and other TVI/AHD/CVI cameras; add a surveillance-grade drive like the 6 TB for weeks of footage.

02

Add a matching bullet

For long walls and driveways, pair it with the DS-2CE16H5T-IT5 bullet, a 5 MP analog bullet with 80 m infrared on the same coax and DVR.

03

Plan the power

Analog cameras need a separate 12 VDC or 24 VAC supply at or near each camera, so allow for a power run or a central analog power box alongside the coax.
