§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CE16H5T-IT5 is

The Hikvision DS-2CE16H5T-IT5 is a 5 MP Turbo HD outdoor bullet camera designed to upgrade an existing analog (coax) site to high definition without pulling new cable.

It sends a 5 MP (2560 x 1944) image down the same coaxial cable an older analog camera used, so you keep the cabling and just change the camera and recorder.

This is an analog camera, not a network camera, so it connects to a Turbo HD DVR rather than a network video recorder, and it does not use PoE.

A switchable 4-in-1 output lets it run as TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS, so it matches almost any HD analog DVR you already own.

EXIR 2.0 infrared gives a clean, even spread of night light up to 80 m, with Smart IR to stop close objects washing out; the night image is black and white because the camera uses infrared rather than white light.

Digital WDR and 3D digital noise reduction help in mixed light and keep the picture clean in low light.

The 3.6 mm fixed lens gives a wide general view suited to a yard, driveway or wall, and other lens options exist for different angles.

It is a metal bullet rated IP67 for dust and water, powered by 12 VDC from a separate supply.

Up-the-coax control lets you reach the on-screen menu from a compatible DVR.

If you are starting fresh or want remote features and analytics, an IP camera is worth considering, but for upgrading an existing coax run this is a cost-effective 5 MP step up.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CE16H5T-IT5

Upgrade without re-cabling

Get 5 MP over the coax you already have, so you change the camera and DVR, not the wiring.

Works with most DVRs

A switchable 4-in-1 output runs as TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS to match almost any HD analog recorder.

Long-range night view

EXIR 2.0 infrared reaches up to 80 m with Smart IR to control glare on close objects.

Built for outdoors

An IP67 metal housing handles dust, rain and heat on exposed walls and eaves.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Analog system upgrades

Lift an older coax site to 5 MP without the cost and disruption of new cable runs.

Driveways and yards

Cover a wide outdoor area with the 3.6 mm lens and long-range infrared.

Sheds and rural sites

Use the long EXIR range on large dark areas where there is no nearby lighting.

Budget HD perimeters

Add high-definition coverage to a wall or fence line at a low cost per camera.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DS-2CE16H5T-IT5 bullet camera with a mounting template, fixings and a quick guide. The DVR, coaxial cable, 12 VDC power supply and any junction box are supplied separately.

02

Installation requirements

Mount it on a wall or eave aimed along the area to cover, run coaxial cable back to a Turbo HD DVR, and provide 12 VDC power at the camera. Set the output format to match your DVR, and use the up-the-coax menu to fine-tune the image. This is not a PoE or network camera, so no network switch is needed.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CE16H5T-IT5

Q.01

Is the DS-2CE16H5T-IT5 a network or analog camera?

It is an analog Turbo HD (TVI 4.0) camera, not an IP camera. It sends video over coaxial cable to a DVR, so it does not use a network cable or PoE. It suits upgrading an existing analog system to 5 MP.
Q.02

What recorder do I need for it?

A Turbo HD DVR that supports 5 MP cameras, such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S. Because it is switchable 4-in-1, it also works with most HD TVI, AHD or CVI DVRs you may already have.
Q.03

How far does the night vision reach?

EXIR 2.0 infrared reaches up to 80 m, with Smart IR to stop nearby objects washing out. The night image is black and white, as the camera uses infrared rather than white light at night.
Q.04

Can I reuse my old coaxial cable?

Yes, that is the point of Turbo HD. In good condition, the existing RG59 coax that fed an older analog camera will carry this 5 MP signal, so you usually only replace the camera and the DVR rather than re-cabling.
Q.05

What lens and view does it have?

This version has a 3.6 mm fixed lens, which gives a wide general view for a yard, driveway or wall. The focus and angle are fixed, so choose the lens to suit the distance you want to cover; other fixed lens options are available in the range.
Q.06

How is it powered?

It runs on 12 VDC from a separate power supply or a central analog power box. Unlike an IP camera it does not draw power over the coax or a network cable, so plan a 12 VDC supply at or near the camera.
Q.07

Is it suitable for outdoors?

Yes. It has an IP67-rated metal housing for dust and water and operates across a wide temperature range, so it suits exposed outdoor walls and eaves in the Australian climate.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record it on a Turbo HD DVR

This is an analog camera, so it connects by coax to a Turbo HD DVR rather than a network recorder. The 8-channel iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S DVR accepts this and other TVI/AHD/CVI cameras; add a surveillance-grade drive like the 6 TB for weeks of footage.

02

Add a matching dome

For eaves and entrances where a bullet is too exposed, pair it with the DS-2CE59H8T-AVPIT3ZF dome, a 5 MP motorised analog dome on the same coax and DVR.

03

Plan the power

Analog cameras need a separate 12 VDC supply at or near each camera, so allow for a power run or a central analog power box alongside the coax.
