The Hikvision iDS-2CD8A46G2-XZHS(Y) sits at the top of the DeepinView professional range and answers a problem every operator knows: you either watch the whole scene or you zoom in on one spot, but not both.

This dual-channel bullet does both at once.

It carries two independent 4 MP sensors in a single housing.

Channel 1 uses a motorised 8 to 32 mm P-iris zoom lens for long-range detail down a car park or approach, while Channel 2 uses a fixed 4 mm wide lens to hold the surrounding context.

Each channel is recorded and analysed on its own, so one camera and one cable cover the work of two.

It is built around edge intelligence, not just resolution.

On-board deep learning captures and compares faces against on-camera libraries, reads number plates and vehicle attributes, and classifies human and vehicle targets so perimeter rules such as line crossing and intrusion fire on real threats rather than weather or wildlife.

That processing happens on the camera and records to a standard Hikvision NVR; for managing face libraries and analytics centrally, a DeepinMind recorder is the natural partner.

A note on the lenses and the night image, because it is easy to misread the spec.

This is a fixed dual-sensor camera, not a roaming speed dome, so the two channels stay aimed where you set them and do not patrol or auto-track on their own.

Night vision is a hybrid of infrared and white light: the white light gives full-colour images for the area it covers, while at longer range under infrared the picture is black and white.

DarkFighter 2.0 keeps low-light detail clean, but this is not a 24/7 full-colour ColorVu camera.

Two built-in microphones and a speaker support two-way audio, and the metal body is rated IP67 and IK10 with a built-in heater, so it holds up at exposed entrances, yards and transport sites.

DeepinView multi-sensor bullet, mounting base and the printed guide. A pole or wall bracket and a junction box are selected to suit the surface and bought separately.

Power and cabling

Run a single gigabit network cable for PoE (802.3at), or use 12 VDC. A gigabit path matters because two 4 MP AI streams need the bandwidth.

Mounting

Fix it high on a solid wall or pole with a steady line of sight, since at the long end of the zoom any sway is magnified, and feed the cable through a sealed entry.

Aim the wide channel at the scene and set the motorised zoom channel remotely on the detail you need, then build the face, ANPR and human and vehicle perimeter rules and the two-way audio in the recorder or client.

Does the camera move or track on its own like a PTZ?
