What the DS-2XM6522G1 is

The Hikvision DS-2XM6522G1 is a 2 MP mobile network camera designed for the exterior of moving vehicles, such as the side, rear or roof of a bus, train, coach or truck.

The wedge-shaped metal body is built to take constant vibration, washing and weather, sealed to IP68 and IP69K against dust, water and high-pressure cleaning and rated IK10 against impact and tampering.

A 1/2.8" sensor records 1080p video at up to 30 fps, and 120 dB true Wide Dynamic Range keeps faces and plates readable against a bright sky, glass or oncoming headlights.

It is made to suit different installs out of the box.

Three fixed lenses, 2.8 mm (105°), 4 mm (87°) and 6 mm (53°), let you match the view to the area you need, from a wide platform-door shot to a tighter look down a vehicle side.

Infrared night vision reaches up to 30 metres, and like any infrared camera the image is black and white in the dark, not colour.

H.265+ compression cuts the bandwidth and storage a mobile recorder needs by a large margin, a built-in micro SD slot takes a card up to 256 GB for local backup, and a built-in heater lets it run from -40 to 75 °C.

The one thing to plan before you order is the power and connector, because this camera comes in several variants.

The -I/ND uses an RJ45 PoE connection, the -IM/ND a four-core M12 aviation plug with PoE for rail and heavy vehicle use, while the -ID and -IDM use DC power through a coaxial or Molex connector.

Choose the variant that matches your mobile recorder and wiring, and pick the lens for your field of view.

Installation & setup

Choose the variant first

Confirm the power and connector type (RJ45 PoE, M12 PoE, coaxial DC or Molex DC) and the lens (2.8, 4 or 6 mm) to match your mobile recorder and the view you need.

Mounting

Fix the wedge body to the exterior surface using the supplied hardware, aiming it along the door, side or area you want covered, and seal the cable entry to keep the IP68 and IP69K rating.

Power and cabling

Run the matching cable back to a Hikvision mobile NVR. PoE variants carry power and video on one lead; DC variants need a suitable supply in the vehicle.
