§ 01Overview
What the TVI-AE-VC211T-IRS is
The Hikvision AE-VC211T-IRS is a 2 MP mobile vehicle camera made for one job: clear 1080p video and audio inside a moving vehicle.
It is important to understand what it is before you buy.
This is an analogue HD-TVI camera, not a network IP camera.
It uses a rugged aviation-style connector and up-the-coax control, and it is designed to connect to a vehicle mobile DVR (MDVR) over coaxial cable.
It does not plug into a standard NVR and does not use PoE, so it suits a purpose-built in-vehicle recording system rather than a building CCTV network.
For the in-cabin role it is well suited.
It captures 1080p at up to 30 fps, has a built-in microphone for audio alongside the video, and offers a 2.8 mm lens for a wide 101-degree cabin view or a 3.6 mm lens for tighter coverage.
Infrared reaching about 10 to 20 metres lets it record in a dark cabin at night.
Being a one-way microphone camera, it records sound but is not a two-way intercom.
It is engineered for the vehicle environment.
A compact interior dome shape keeps it discreet and out of the way, it runs on the vehicle's wide-range DC supply rather than mains or PoE, and it is rated for cabin temperature extremes from -40 to 60 degrees C.
Because it is built for the inside of a vehicle rather than fixed outdoor mounting, it does not carry a weatherproof ingress rating.
Pair it with a compatible mobile DVR and the other cameras in your fleet fit-out for a complete in-vehicle system; check that recording audio is permitted for your application.

§ 04Why choose this
Built for the way you actually use the TVI-AE-VC211T-IRS
Built for mobile wiring
An aviation connector, up-the-coax control and wide-range DC power suit a vehicle mobile DVR system, not a building network.
Tough in vehicle conditions
A -40 to 60 degrees C operating range copes with the heat and cold a cabin sees through the day.
Flexible coverage
A choice of 2.8 mm wide or 3.6 mm lens lets you frame a whole cabin or a single zone such as a door or till.
§ 05Where it fits
Right at home in these scenarios
Buses and coaches
Record the passenger cabin and driver area for safety, disputes and incident review.
Trucks and logistics
Monitor the cab and load area as part of a fleet mobile DVR system.
Vans and service vehicles
Capture in-vehicle activity and audio for security and accountability.
Taxis and rideshare
A discreet interior camera for driver and passenger safety records.
§ 06Setup
Installation & setup
Plan the system
This camera feeds a vehicle mobile DVR (MDVR) over coax with an aviation connector. Confirm your MDVR channel count, storage and power before fitting, as the camera is part of an in-vehicle system rather than a standalone unit.
Power
Wire it into the vehicle's DC supply within its rated voltage range. It does not use PoE or mains power, so route it from the vehicle's electrical system to the MDVR.
Mounting
Fit the interior dome to the cabin ceiling or a firm panel facing the area you want covered, choosing the lens for the field of view, and route the aviation-connector cable neatly to the MDVR.
Setup
Connect the camera to the mobile DVR, set the recording resolution and frame rate, enable audio where permitted, and adjust the infrared and image settings for the cabin.

§ 09Bundles
Recommended packages
Add a mobile DVR (sourced separately)
This camera needs a vehicle mobile DVR (MDVR) to record its coax feed; we do not currently stock the MDVR, so pair it with a mobile DVR that matches your channel count, storage and vehicle power. It does not work with a standard IP NVR.
Build out the fleet cameras
Add the DS-2XM6522G1 mobile vehicle camera or the DS-2XM6726G1ID mobile dome camera to cover more of the cabin, doorways or external views in the same vehicle fit-out.
Choose the lens for the view
Select the 2.8 mm wide lens for a whole-cabin view or the 3.6 mm option for a tighter zone, matching the camera to where it is mounted in the vehicle.
