What the DS-UPS1000 is

The Hikvision DS-UPS1000 is a back-up type uninterruptible power supply rated at 1000VA / 600W, designed to protect CCTV recorders and small camera systems from mains power problems. When the power fails, dips or surges, the UPS switches to its internal battery in 10 milliseconds or less, so an NVR or DVR keeps recording and shuts down safely instead of losing data or corrupting a hard drive.

It accepts a wide input voltage range and uses built-in automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to smooth out brown-outs and over-voltage, and it adds surge, overload, discharge and overcharge protection. Two AU Type-I outlets supply the connected gear, and a clear LED shows mains, charging and overload states with audible alarms. Runtime depends on load: as a guide, the DS-UPS1000 runs about 60 minutes at a light 60W load, around 15 minutes at 150W, and roughly 2 minutes at 300W - enough to cover short outages or trigger a clean shutdown on longer ones.

Power comes from a single 12V/9Ah rechargeable lead-acid battery that recharges to about 90% in 4-6 hours. Please note the battery mode output is a PWM stepped (simulated) waveform rather than a pure sine wave; this is well suited to DVRs, NVRs and routers, which is what most buyers protect with it. The unit measures 274 x 95 x 139 mm, weighs about 5.4 kg, and operates from 0 to 40 degrees C. It is ideal for keeping a Hikvision, Dahua or HiLook recorder and its hard drive safe during the brief, frequent outages common across Australia.

No. In battery mode it produces a PWM stepped (simulated) waveform rather than a pure sine wave. This suits DVRs, NVRs and routers, which is what most people protect with it. Very sensitive pure-sine-only equipment should use a pure sine UPS.
