§ 01Overview
What the DH-IPC-WL46A is
The Dahua DH-IPC-WL46A is a 4MP Wi-Fi floodlight camera designed to replace an existing outdoor light fitting while adding active security.
Twin floodlights switch between warm and cool colour temperatures across four modes, a 110 dB siren and two-way audio handle deterrence and communication, and SMD detection classifies humans, vehicles and animals to cut false alerts.
Footage is 4MP at 2560 x 1440 through a fixed 2.8mm lens.
The camera connects over dual-band 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, so no network cable is needed, and stores footage on microSD up to 256 GB or to a Dahua NVR.
It is powered from 100-240 VAC mains, wired like a light fixture through live, neutral and earth, so a licensed electrician should make the connection.
A built-in PIR sensor can trigger the floodlights and recording.
Night vision is full-colour using the floodlights rather than long-range infrared.

§ 04Why choose this
Built for the way you actually use the DH-IPC-WL46A
Colour footage at night
The twin floodlights light the scene in full colour, so you see clothing and vehicle colours rather than grey infrared images.
No network cable run
Dual-band Wi-Fi means only mains power is needed at the fitting, avoiding a data cable run to the camera position.
Smart, targeted alerts
Human, vehicle and animal classification keeps notifications relevant and limits false triggers from passing wildlife.
§ 05Where it fits
Right at home in these scenarios
Front entries and porches
Mount where a porch light sits to combine lighting, recording and a spoken warning for anyone at the door.
Driveways and carports
The floodlights and PIR light up an approaching car or person while the camera records in colour.
Backyards and side access
Cover a dark side path or rear yard where running a network cable would be difficult but mains power exists.
Homes without cabling
A practical choice where Wi-Fi coverage is good and pulling Ethernet to the eaves is not feasible.
§ 06Setup
Installation & setup
Licensed wiring
This camera runs on 100-240 VAC mains and wires like a light fixture through live, neutral and earth. A licensed electrician should make the mains connection per local rules.
Wi-Fi placement
Confirm a stable 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal reaches the mounting spot before fixing; the camera carries video over your network rather than a cable.
Storage
Fit a microSD card up to 256 GB for local recording, or add it to a Dahua NVR over the network for central storage and playback.
Aim and zones
Set the floodlight and camera angles, choose a floodlight mode, and tune the PIR and detection zones to suit the area and avoid the public footpath.

§ 09Bundles
Recommended packages
Add storage on an NVR
Record continuously by adding the camera to a Dahua NVR such as the 4CH NVR4104HS-P or 8CH NVR4108HS-8P over your network.
Wired alternative
Need long-range infrared or a PoE single-cable install instead of mains and Wi-Fi? Compare the 4MP WizSense dome HDBW3466FP.
Cabling
If you do choose to network it by cable, use quality Dahua Cat6 cable.
