§ 01Overview

What the DH-IPC-WL46A is

The Dahua DH-IPC-WL46A is a 4MP Wi-Fi floodlight camera designed to replace an existing outdoor light fitting while adding active security.

Twin floodlights switch between warm and cool colour temperatures across four modes, a 110 dB siren and two-way audio handle deterrence and communication, and SMD detection classifies humans, vehicles and animals to cut false alerts.

Footage is 4MP at 2560 x 1440 through a fixed 2.8mm lens.

The camera connects over dual-band 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, so no network cable is needed, and stores footage on microSD up to 256 GB or to a Dahua NVR.

It is powered from 100-240 VAC mains, wired like a light fixture through live, neutral and earth, so a licensed electrician should make the connection.

A built-in PIR sensor can trigger the floodlights and recording.

Night vision is full-colour using the floodlights rather than long-range infrared.

What the DH-IPC-WL46A features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

4MP Ultra HD

4MP captures roughly twice the detail of standard 1080p.

Full Color Night Vision

Unlike plain black-and-white night vision, this camera can capture colour after dark — so you can pick out the actual colour of a car, a jacket or a bag, detail that grey infrared footage loses.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

Two-Way Audio

Talk and listen in real time through the app — tell a courier where to leave a parcel, or speak to someone at the gate, whether you're home or away.

Illustrative — simulated for demonstration

§ 02Engineering

DH-IPC-WL46A specifications

- Dual floodlights: Two LED panels switch between warm and cool colour with motion, manual, schedule and PIR modes.

- Full-colour night vision: The floodlights light the scene in colour after dark; a short-range IR LED assists in low light.

- Active alarm: A built-in 110 dB siren and strobing floodlights deter intruders on detection.

- Smart detection: SMD distinguishes humans, vehicles and animals to reduce nuisance notifications.

- Two-way audio: Built-in microphone and speaker allow you to talk to visitors or delivery drivers from the app.

- Connectivity and power: Dual-band 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz Wi-Fi, microSD to 256 GB, IP65 housing, 100-240 VAC mains supply.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DH-IPC-WL46A

Light and camera in one

It replaces an outdoor floodlight while adding a 4MP camera, siren and two-way audio, covering a doorway or driveway from a single fitting.

Colour footage at night

The twin floodlights light the scene in full colour, so you see clothing and vehicle colours rather than grey infrared images.

No network cable run

Dual-band Wi-Fi means only mains power is needed at the fitting, avoiding a data cable run to the camera position.

Smart, targeted alerts

Human, vehicle and animal classification keeps notifications relevant and limits false triggers from passing wildlife.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Front entries and porches

Mount where a porch light sits to combine lighting, recording and a spoken warning for anyone at the door.

Driveways and carports

The floodlights and PIR light up an approaching car or person while the camera records in colour.

Backyards and side access

Cover a dark side path or rear yard where running a network cable would be difficult but mains power exists.

Homes without cabling

A practical choice where Wi-Fi coverage is good and pulling Ethernet to the eaves is not feasible.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Licensed wiring

This camera runs on 100-240 VAC mains and wires like a light fixture through live, neutral and earth. A licensed electrician should make the mains connection per local rules.

02

Wi-Fi placement

Confirm a stable 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal reaches the mounting spot before fixing; the camera carries video over your network rather than a cable.

03

Storage

Fit a microSD card up to 256 GB for local recording, or add it to a Dahua NVR over the network for central storage and playback.

04

Aim and zones

Set the floodlight and camera angles, choose a floodlight mode, and tune the PIR and detection zones to suit the area and avoid the public footpath.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DH-IPC-WL46A

Q.01

How is the WL46A powered?

It runs on 100-240 VAC mains, wired like a light fixture through live, neutral and earth. A licensed electrician should make the mains connection in line with local electrical rules.
Q.02

Does it need a network cable?

No. It connects over dual-band 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, so only mains power is needed at the fitting. Make sure a stable Wi-Fi signal reaches the mounting position.
Q.03

Does it record in colour at night?

Yes. The twin floodlights light the scene in full colour after dark. A short-range infrared LED assists in low light, but the colour image comes from the floodlights, not long-range infrared.
Q.04

Can the floodlights change colour temperature?

Yes. The dual floodlights switch between warm and cool white and offer four modes: motion activation, manual, schedule and PIR activation.
Q.05

Does it have a siren and two-way audio?

Yes. It has a built-in 110 dB siren for active deterrence and a microphone and speaker for two-way audio so you can talk to visitors from the app.
Q.06

Where is the footage stored?

It records to a microSD card up to 256 GB, or to a Dahua NVR over your network. Fit the card before mounting where access is awkward.
Q.07

What is the weather rating?

The housing is rated IP65 against dust and rain, suitable for sheltered outdoor positions such as eaves, porches and walls.
Q.08

Does it detect people and vehicles specifically?

Yes. Smart detection classifies humans, vehicles and animals to reduce false notifications from passing wildlife and other movement.
