§ 01Overview

What the SD49225DB-HNY is

The Dahua SD49225DB-HNY is a 2MP PTZ speed dome built for wide-area outdoor monitoring, combining a 25x optical zoom (4.8-120mm) with Starlight low-light imaging and IR to 100m.

Full pan, tilt and zoom control lets one camera sweep a site and lock onto a point of interest, while WizSense SMD Plus filters detections to humans and vehicles to reduce nuisance alerts.

It records 1080p at up to 25/30fps for smooth capture of fast-moving subjects, runs on PoE+ over a single cable, and carries an IP66 housing with 6000V surge protection for exposed pole, wall and rooftop positions.

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the SD49225DB-HNY

Wide coverage with zoom on demand

A 25x optical zoom lets one PTZ sweep a car park or yard and zoom into a vehicle or entry point, reducing the number of fixed cameras needed.

Clear footage after dark

Starlight imaging and 100m IR keep usable detail across long driveways and fence lines in near-dark conditions.

Smooth on fast subjects

1080p at up to 25/30fps captures fast-moving vehicles and pedestrians clearly, where standard 25fps can smear motion.

Relevant alerts

WizSense SMD Plus classifies humans and vehicles, so a wide-area PTZ flags real intrusions rather than wind-blown vegetation or headlight glare.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Commercial car parks

The zoom and 100m IR cover entry lanes, bays and pedestrian zones from one unit, with SMD Plus reducing false triggers from glare and debris.

Industrial and warehouse perimeters

One corner-mounted PTZ sweeps an entire yard and zooms along a fence line, with the IP66 housing handling dust and rain.

Monitored security operations

Full PTZ control lets staff track subjects across a site in real time, with 60fps keeping the image clear during rapid pan or tilt.

Construction sites

A steerable PTZ suits sites whose layout changes often, with Starlight maintaining visibility during low-light early and late shifts.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Use a PoE+ source

Power from an 802.3at PoE+ switch, NVR port or injector rated for the full 20W. A 15.4W 802.3af port will not reliably run this camera, especially on cold-start pan and tilt.

02

Mount on ceiling, pendant or pole

It suits ceiling, pendant, wall or pole positions. Use a Dahua-compatible PTZ bracket and junction box rated for the camera weight; confirm fit before installing.

03

Set tracking via IVS rules

Configure tracking through IVS tripwire and intrusion rules with the detection zones defined for the scene, rather than expecting a standalone auto-track toggle.

04

Protect against surge

Use the 6000V surge rating with proper earthing on exposed pole and rooftop mounts to protect against lightning-induced spikes.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the SD49225DB-HNY

Q.01

What PoE standard does the SD49225DB-HNY need?

It needs IEEE 802.3at PoE+ and draws up to 20W. Standard 802.3af ports are limited to 15.4W and are not sufficient, particularly during cold-start pan and tilt when current peaks. Confirm your switch, NVR or injector supports 802.3at on the connected port.
Q.02

What does the 25x optical zoom cover?

The 4.8-120mm lens gives a wide view at its shortest length and a narrow telephoto view at 120mm, so one camera can monitor a broad scene then zoom into a doorway, plate area or person from the same position.
Q.03

How does Starlight differ from standard night vision?

Standard IR-only cameras produce grey images in darkness. Starlight uses a higher-sensitivity sensor to keep usable detail in near-dark conditions before switching to IR, holding better contrast under street or car park lighting.
Q.04

Does the IR adjust when I zoom in?

Yes. Adaptive Smart IR narrows and concentrates the infrared as you zoom to the 25x telephoto position, which prevents overexposure when zoomed wide and underexposure at distance when zoomed in.
Q.05

How does auto tracking work on this model?

Tracking is configured through IVS rules rather than a separate auto-track menu. Once a rule such as tripwire or intrusion is triggered, the camera can follow the target with pan, tilt and zoom. Set up the IVS zones for the scene during commissioning.
Q.06

What does SMD Plus do?

SMD Plus is part of WizSense and classifies motion as human or vehicle before triggering an alert, filtering out animals, foliage, rain and lighting changes. For a PTZ watching a large area, this cuts the volume of irrelevant alarms.
Q.07

Does it have a microphone or speaker?

It provides line-in and line-out audio connections over bare wire for external audio devices, but it has no built-in microphone or speaker, so audio needs external hardware if required.
Q.08

Is it compatible with Dahua NVRs and software?

Yes. It works with Dahua NVRs over Dahua protocol and ONVIF, and with DSS management software. PTZ presets, patrols and rule-triggered tracking are accessible on compatible Dahua platforms; confirm your NVR supports PTZ control.
