§ 01Overview

What this product is

The Dahua SD52C225U-HNI is a 2MP PTZ speed dome built to actively cover wide outdoor areas from one mounting position.

A 25x optical zoom (4.8-120mm) lets an operator close in on distant vehicles, gates or fence lines, while a 1/2.8-inch STARVIS CMOS sensor with Starlight low-light technology keeps colour and detail in near-dark conditions rather than dropping straight to monochrome.

It records smooth 1080P at up to 50/60fps with efficient H.265 encoding.

Onboard auto-tracking automatically pans and tilts to follow a moving subject, so the camera stays useful on large or unmanned sites without constant manual control, and IVS rules add tripwire and intrusion alerts on defined zones.

High-speed pan/tilt up to 500 degrees per second moves quickly between preset points.

The metal housing carries an IK10 impact rating for exposed rooftop, pole and wall positions.

It powers from PoE+ (802.3at), not standard PoE, so confirm your switch or injector supplies the higher power budget before installing.

This model does not have built-in infrared illuminators, relying on Starlight sensitivity for low light, and it has line-level audio terminals but no built-in microphone.

Dahua has marked this model as discontinued, so availability is by enquiry and lead times may be longer; pair it with a Dahua NVR that supports PTZ control and H.265 for full preset, tracking and IVS management.

- Note: Dahua-marked discontinued model; availability by enquiry, lead times may be longer

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use it

One camera covers a wide area

A 25x optical zoom and high-speed pan/tilt let a single PTZ watch car parks, yards and fence lines that would otherwise need several fixed cameras.

Follows activity on its own

Onboard auto-tracking pans and tilts to keep a moving subject in frame, so the camera stays useful on large or unmanned sites.

Colour detail in low light

Starlight low-light technology keeps usable colour and detail in near-darkness without built-in IR, extending overnight coverage.

Tough outdoor housing

An IK10 metal body suits exposed rooftop, pole and wall positions where weather and impact are a concern.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Perimeter fence lines

Tripwire and intrusion rules flag a breach, and the 25x zoom lets an operator confirm the event in detail before responding.

Industrial yards and loading docks

One PTZ pans between dock entries and internal corridors, covering a large yard without a fixed camera at every point.

Commercial car parks

Auto-tracking keeps moving vehicles and people in frame across open or multi-level parks, with Starlight handling poorly lit overnight conditions.

Open public spaces

Councils and property managers can follow a subject across a plaza or open area at distance using zoom and tracking from one mount.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Choose an elevated, clear mount

Fix the PTZ to a pole, parapet or wall with an unobstructed view of the area you want to cover, allowing for the wide pan and tilt range.

02

Provide PoE+ power

Power it from a PoE+ (802.3at) switch or injector. Standard PoE will not run this camera reliably, so confirm the power budget per port first.

03

Pair a PTZ-capable NVR

Connect it to a Dahua NVR that supports PTZ control and H.265 so presets, auto-tracking and IVS can be managed from the recorder.

04

Confirm availability first

This model is marked discontinued, so contact us to confirm current stock and lead time, or to select a current-range PTZ alternative, before planning the install.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked

Q.01

How far can the 25x optical zoom see?

The 25x optical zoom (4.8-120mm) lets the camera bring distant subjects much closer than a fixed camera, which suits long perimeter fence lines, large car parks and open yards from a single mount. Because it is optical rather than digital zoom, detail holds up as you zoom in, so one PTZ can do the work of several fixed cameras across a wide area.
Q.02

Does this camera require PoE+ or standard PoE?

It requires PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at), which supplies up to about 30W per port. Standard PoE (802.3af) at 15.4W will not reliably power this PTZ, so confirm your switch or injector provides PoE+ before installing. If your infrastructure is standard PoE only, budget for a PoE+ injector or a switch with enough power per port.
Q.03

Does it have built-in infrared night vision?

No. This model does not have built-in IR illuminators. It uses Dahua Starlight low-light technology, which keeps colour and detail in near-darkness using available ambient light, then moves to monochrome in very low light. For sites with no ambient light at all, plan some supplementary lighting or choose an IR or full-colour model.
Q.04

How does the auto-tracking work?

The camera detects a moving subject and automatically pans and tilts to keep it in frame, processed on the camera itself rather than needing the recorder to do it. This reduces the need for an operator to manually drive the PTZ, which is useful on large or unmanned sites where you want the camera to follow activity on its own.
Q.05

What IVS detection rules can it run?

It supports IVS (Intelligent Video Surveillance) including tripwire and intrusion-zone detection, so it can alert when something crosses a line or enters a defined area. Rules are set through the camera web interface or a compatible Dahua NVR or VMS, making it more than a passive recorder at key perimeter points.
Q.06

Does it record audio?

It has line-level audio input and output terminals for connecting external audio devices, but it does not have a built-in microphone or speaker. On its own it does not capture on-site audio, so add an external microphone if audio is required and permitted at the site.
Q.07

Is this model still available to order?

Dahua has marked the SD52C225U-HNI as a discontinued model, so it is supplied by enquiry rather than held as regular stock, and lead times may be longer. Contact us to confirm current availability and timing, or to discuss a current-range PTZ alternative if you need stock quickly.
Q.08

Which recorder should I use with it?

As a Dahua IP camera it works with Dahua NVRs that support PTZ control and H.265 decoding. For full use of presets, auto-tracking display and IVS management, pair it with a compatible Dahua NVR or VMS. Our team can advise on a suitable recorder and PoE+ power for a complete system.
