§ 01Overview

What the DH-SD49225-HC-LA1 is

The Dahua DH-SD49225-HC-LA1 is a 2MP HDCVI PTZ that adds motorised pan, tilt and zoom to an analogue coaxial system.

It is an HDCVI analogue camera, not an IP camera, so it connects over coax to an HDCVI XVR or a compatible HD DVR rather than to a network recorder, and it does not use PoE.

This makes it a practical way to upgrade or extend an existing analogue site with a long-range pan-tilt-zoom camera without running new network cable.

A 1/2.8-inch 2MP STARVIS sensor with Starlight low light and 120dB true WDR captures clear 1080p video, and a 25x optical zoom (4.8-120mm) reaches long distances, with a published identify range well beyond 100m for plates and detail.

Smart IR reaches up to 100m for night coverage, and the PTZ supports 300 presets plus tours, patterns and scans.

The IP66 housing suits exposed positions, a wall mount bracket is included, and it runs on a 12V DC/3A supply.

It outputs CVI, TVI, AHD or CVBS for wide recorder compatibility.

It has a line-level audio input for an external microphone rather than a built-in one, and it records monochrome at night under infrared.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DH-SD49225-HC-LA1

PTZ on existing coax

Adds motorised pan, tilt and zoom to an analogue system over existing coaxial cable, with no network rewiring or PoE needed.

Long-range day and night

A 25x optical zoom and 100m Smart IR reach detail across large yards, car parks and perimeters after dark.

Wide recorder compatibility

Four-in-one CVI, TVI, AHD and CVBS output works with HDCVI XVRs and most existing HD and SD DVRs.

Built for exposed sites

An IP66 housing with lightning and surge protection and an included wall bracket suits poles and open perimeters.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Analogue system upgrades

Adds a long-range PTZ to an existing coax site without running network cable or changing to IP.

Large yards and perimeters

Sweeps wide areas and zooms to a gate, vehicle or boundary, with 100m IR for night coverage.

Rural and acreage properties

Long zoom and long IR suit monitoring laneways, sheds and approaches across large rural blocks on coax.

Car parks and compounds

Follows movement across a car park or compound and zooms in to read plates or detail at distance.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Confirm your recorder and control

Connect over coax to an HDCVI XVR or a compatible HD DVR, and set the output format to match. Confirm the recorder can control PTZ over coax or RS-485 to drive pan, tilt and zoom.

02

Provide 12V DC/3A power

This camera does not use PoE. Provide a dedicated 12V DC/3A supply rated for the camera, allowing for the higher draw with the infrared and PTZ motors active, and run power separately from the coax.

03

Mount with the included bracket

Fix the PTZ to a wall, pole or parapet using the included wall mount bracket, at a height with a clear, elevated view of the area.

04

Set presets and tours

Configure presets, tours, patterns and scans so the camera patrols key points automatically, and confirm power-off memory returns it to position after a power cut.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DH-SD49225-HC-LA1

Q.01

Is this an IP camera or an analogue camera?

It is an analogue HDCVI camera, not an IP camera. It sends high-definition video over coaxial cable to an HDCVI XVR or a compatible HD DVR, rather than over a network to an NVR. It does not use PoE, which makes it suited to upgrading or extending an existing coax system with a PTZ.
Q.02

What recorder do I need for it?

Use an HDCVI XVR, or a DVR that accepts CVI, TVI, AHD or CVBS input. The camera outputs all four formats so it works with a wide range of HD and standard-definition recorders. Confirm your recorder supports PTZ control over coax or RS-485 so you can drive the pan, tilt and zoom.
Q.03

How far does the zoom and night vision reach?

The 25x optical zoom (4.8-120mm) reaches long distances, with a published identify range well beyond 100m for plates and detail in good conditions. Smart IR reaches up to 100m at night, so it suits large yards, car parks, perimeters and rural properties where long reach matters.
Q.04

How is it powered?

It runs on a 12V DC/3A supply and does not use PoE. Provide a dedicated 12V DC power supply rated for the camera, allowing for the higher draw when the infrared and PTZ motors are active. Run the power separately from the coaxial video cable.
Q.05

Does it record audio?

It has a line-level audio input for connecting an external microphone, but it does not have a built-in microphone or speaker. On its own it does not capture on-site audio, so add an external microphone if you need sound.
Q.06

Can I set patrol tours and presets?

Yes. It supports 300 presets plus tours, patterns and scans, with power-off memory so it returns to its position after a power cut. You can build a tour that cycles through key points automatically, or drive the camera manually from the recorder or controller.
Q.07

Will it work with my existing coax cabling?

Yes. HDCVI runs high-definition video over standard coaxial cable, so you can reuse existing coax when upgrading an analogue system to this PTZ. Check the cable run length and quality, as very long or poor coax can affect the image at full resolution.
Q.08

Is it suitable for exposed outdoor sites?

Yes. The housing is IP66-rated against dust and heavy rain across a -40C to +70C range, with lightning and surge protection, suiting poles, parapets and open perimeters. A wall mount bracket is included; other mounts are available separately.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Recorder for coax cameras

Record this HDCVI PTZ on an HD DVR that accepts CVI input, such as the Hikvision iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S Turbo HD DVR (HDTVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS), rather than a network NVR; confirm it supports PTZ control.

02

Storage

Fit a surveillance hard drive such as a 2TB or 6TB drive to the recorder for continuous recording.

03

Power and mounting

Provide a dedicated 12V DC/3A power supply, as this camera does not use PoE. A wall mount bracket is included in the box; other mounts are available separately.
