What the DS-2CD2087G2H-LIU is

The Hikvision DS-2CD2087G2H-LIU is the microphone version of Hikvision's 8 MP Smart Hybrid Light mini bullet.

It records true 4K video through a 1/1.8" sensor and an F1.0 ColorVu lens, so daytime images are sharp enough to identify faces and plates, and 130 dB WDR keeps both bright sky and shaded ground readable in the same frame.

Night-time is where the hybrid lighting earns its place.

The camera holds quiet infrared until AcuSense detects a person or vehicle, then white light comes on for full-colour footage up to 40 m.

Because the colour light is tied to a real detection rather than running all night, you keep a low profile and avoid constant glare while still recording who was actually there.

AcuSense classifies human and vehicle targets so alerts skip animals, rain and swaying plants, and the built-in microphone adds an audio record to the video.

The housing is a compact IP67 metal bullet that copes with dust, sun and heavy rain, fitted here with a 2.8 mm wide lens for entrances, driveways and small yards.

Run it on a single PoE cable from a switch or NVR, or on 12 VDC, and record it to a Hikvision AcuSense NVR so the human and vehicle events stay searchable.

This model has a microphone but no speaker, so it records sound rather than offering two-way talk-back.

What's in the box

One DS-2CD2087G2H-LIU mini bullet camera with a mounting template, fixings and a quick guide. The PoE switch or NVR, network cable, microSD card and any junction box are supplied separately.

Installation requirements

Fix it to a wall or eave above the target area and run one network cable back to a PoE switch or NVR, or wire 12 VDC. Aim the camera, set the Smart Hybrid Light and AcuSense rules in the software, and add it to a Hikvision AcuSense NVR for recording and searchable events.

Does the DS-2CD2087G2H-LIU film in colour after dark?
Yes, when it matters. It stays in infrared by default and switches to white light for full-colour video up to 40 m the moment it detects a person or vehicle, so you get a discreet camera most of the night and colour detail on a real event.
Q.02

What does the LIU in the model name mean?
In this range the L points to the ColorVu and Smart Hybrid Light feature, the I to infrared, and the U to the built-in microphone for audio. This LIU model records sound but, unlike the LIU/SL version, it does not include a speaker or strobe.
Q.03

Can it talk back or sound an alarm through a speaker?
No. The LIU model has a microphone for recording audio but no built-in speaker, so it cannot play a voice warning or talk-back. If you want an audible warning and two-way talk, look at the LIU/SL strobe-and-siren version instead.
Q.04

How well does it cut false alarms?
AcuSense deep-learning analytics separate human and vehicle targets from everything else, so motion, line-crossing and intrusion alarms fire on people and cars and ignore animals, rain and moving branches. Fewer nuisance alerts means faster searching later.
Q.05

Will the white light annoy the neighbours?
By default the white light only switches on briefly when a person or vehicle is detected, then drops back to infrared, so it is not a permanent floodlight. You can also set it to full-time infrared if you would rather it never shows visible light.
Q.06

Does it need a special power supply?
No. It runs on standard PoE (802.3af) over the same network cable that carries the video, or on a 12 VDC supply. A PoE switch or PoE NVR keeps each camera on a single cable for power and data.
Q.07

Which recorder suits it best?
A Hikvision AcuSense NVR gives you the full benefit of the human and vehicle search, smart events and simple setup. It also supports ONVIF for third-party recorders, but some smart features may be limited outside the Hikvision range.
