Q.01

Does the white light stay on all night, or only when motion is detected?
The camera ships with Smart Hybrid Light in auto mode — it uses IR by default at night and only switches on the white light when motion is detected. You can adjust this behaviour (IR only, white light only, or smart auto) via the camera's web interface under Configuration > Image > Supplement Light Settings.

Can I use this camera without an NVR by storing footage directly on an SD card?
Yes. The camera has a built-in microSD slot supporting cards up to 512 GB, so it can record locally without an NVR. You can still view live and recorded footage remotely via the Hik-Connect app.
Q.03

Does this camera work with my existing Hikvision NVR?
It is compatible with Hikvision I-series and M-series NVRs running current firmware. Older or budget-tier Hikvision NVRs may not support the smart event linkage (strobe and audio alarm triggers) — check your NVR model supports AcuSense camera integration before purchasing.

Does it need a separate power supply, or can it run off PoE?
It supports IEEE 802.3af PoE (Class 3, max 12.5 W), so a single Ethernet cable handles both power and data — no separate power adapter needed. If you prefer, it also accepts 12 VDC via the coaxial power plug.

Will the strobe light and siren disturb my neighbours?
The strobe and audio alarm are only triggered by detected events (such as line crossing or intrusion) and only when you have configured those linkages. You can set time schedules to restrict when they activate, or disable them entirely and use the camera purely for recording.

What warranty does this camera come with in Australia?
Australian retailers typically offer a 3-year back-to-base manufacturer warranty on this camera. Under the Australian Consumer Law you also retain statutory guarantees regardless of the manufacturer warranty terms.

Which lens should I choose — 2.8 mm or 4 mm?
The 2.8 mm lens gives a wider 105° horizontal field of view, making it better for entrances and tight spaces. The 4 mm lens provides a narrower 90° view but more reach, suiting driveways or longer areas where you need to identify faces or number plates further away.

Can I view this camera remotely on my phone?
Yes. The camera integrates with the Hik-Connect app (iOS and Android) for live view, playback, and push notifications. You can also manage it through iVMS-4200 on a PC or access it directly via a web browser on your local network.
