§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CD6D552IZHS is

The Hikvision DS-2CD6D552IZHS is a multi-directional PanoVu camera that puts five lenses in one housing to cover a wide scene and the ground beneath it.

Four adjustable 5 MP lenses, each a motorised 2.8 to 8 mm varifocal, can be aimed to give up to 360 degrees of coverage, while a fifth fixed 2 mm lens looks straight down to remove the blind spot directly under the camera that ordinary multi-sensor units leave.

That makes it well suited to a building corner, a junction of paths or an open car park where one mount needs to see in several directions at once.

Setup is faster than it looks thanks to PTRZ.

Each of the four adjustable lenses can be panned, tilted, rotated and zoomed remotely from the software during commissioning, so an installer frames every direction from the ground rather than hand-aiming five lenses on a ladder.

Note that PTRZ is for setting the view at install, not active tracking; once positioned, the lenses stay put.

On-camera deep learning classifies people and vehicles on all four adjustable channels, so perimeter rules alarm on real targets, and 120 dB WDR holds detail in mixed light.

Infrared reaches up to 30 m for night cover, in black and white, as this model uses infrared rather than a white-light ColorVu system.

The housing is IP67 against dust and water, IK10 against impact and NEMA 4X against corrosion, so it stands up to weather, tampering and salt air.

It has audio in and out terminals for an external microphone but no built-in microphone, so plan for an external mic if you need sound.

A microSD slot holds up to 1 TB, and it runs on PoE (802.3at) or 12 VDC.

Because the four adjustable lenses are separate channels, allow several channels on the recorder when sizing the NVR.

What the DS-2CD6D552IZHS features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CD6D552IZHS

See every direction from one mount

Four adjustable 5 MP lenses give up to 360 degrees, and a fifth lens covers the ground directly below, so a corner or junction needs only one camera.

Fast to commission

PTRZ lets the installer frame all four lenses remotely from the ground, instead of hand-aiming five lenses on a ladder.

Alarms on real targets

Human and vehicle detection on all four adjustable channels keeps alerts to people and vehicles across the whole scene.

Tough and corrosion-resistant

An IP67, IK10, NEMA 4X body handles weather, knocks and salt air on exposed corners and yards.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Building corners

One unit watches both walls of a corner plus the ground below, replacing several fixed cameras at an awkward spot.

Car parks and open areas

Aim the four lenses across a car park or yard for full coverage, with human and vehicle rules for the perimeter.

Path and road junctions

Cover several approaches from one high mount, and use the downward lens for anyone passing directly beneath.

Campuses and warehouses

A single multi-directional camera reduces the count and cabling at large open sites while still classifying people and vehicles.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

Camera, mounting hardware, waterproofing kit and the quick start guide. A microSD card, NVR and power supply are separate.

02

Mounting

Fit it high on a corner, pole or central position so the four lenses can be aimed across the scene and the fifth lens covers the ground below.

03

Commissioning with PTRZ

Frame each of the four adjustable lenses remotely from the software using PTRZ, so you set pan, tilt, rotate and zoom from the ground rather than on the ladder.

04

Power and recorder sizing

Run PoE (802.3at) or 12 VDC, and allow several NVR channels and licences for the adjustable lenses plus the fixed view. Fit a large surveillance drive for continuous recording.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CD6D552IZHS

Q.01

How is the DS-2CD6D552IZHS different from a normal panoramic camera?

It has five lenses. Four adjustable 5 MP lenses can be aimed in different directions for up to 360-degree coverage, and a fifth fixed lens looks straight down to cover the spot directly under the camera that most multi-sensor units miss. That suits building corners and path junctions where you need several views from one mount.
Q.02

What does PTRZ mean here?

PTRZ lets you pan, tilt, rotate and zoom each of the four adjustable lenses remotely from the software when you set the camera up. It saves an installer hand-aiming five lenses on a ladder. It is for framing the view at install, not for live tracking, so the lenses stay where you set them.
Q.03

Does it film in colour at night?

The night image is black and white. This model uses infrared up to 30 metres rather than a white-light ColorVu system, so it lights the scene with infrared after dark rather than holding full colour.
Q.04

Does it have a built-in microphone?

No. It has audio in and out terminals for an external microphone, but no built-in microphone of its own. If you need sound, wire an external mic to the audio input.
Q.05

Does it detect people and vehicles?

Yes. On-camera deep learning classifies people and vehicles on each of the four adjustable channels, so perimeter rules such as line crossing and intrusion alarm on real targets rather than on weather or animals.
Q.06

How many recorder channels does it use?

The four adjustable lenses are separate channels, so size the NVR for several channels and licences, plus the fifth fixed view. A 16-channel recorder gives room to add other cameras alongside it.
Q.07

Where is it best mounted?

On a building corner, a path or road junction, or in the middle of an open area such as a car park, where one high mount needs to look in several directions at once. The downward lens makes it useful directly over an entrance too.
Q.08

What power and storage does it need?

It runs on PoE (802.3at) or 12 VDC and takes a microSD card up to 1 TB for on-board recording. For continuous footage on all channels, record to an NVR with a large surveillance drive.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record and review it

The adjustable lenses use several channels, so pair it with a 16-channel DS-7616NI-M2/16P and a large surveillance drive such as the 8 TB drive for continuous recording across the views.

02

Combine with a 32 MP panorama

On very large sites, run it with the DS-2CD6984G1-IHSUY/NFC PanoVu for a single ultra-wide 180-degree view alongside this 360-degree corner coverage.

03

Store footage on the camera

A microSD card up to 1 TB gives on-board recording and a fallback if the network drops.
