§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CE57H8T-VPITF is

The Hikvision DS-2CE57H8T-VPITF is a 5 MP Turbo HD dome for upgrading an existing analog CCTV system to sharp high-definition video without rewiring.

It sends its picture over the coaxial cable you already have to a Turbo HD DVR, and a 4-in-1 output switches between TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS so it works with almost any HD analog or older recorder.

A fixed 2.8 mm lens gives a wide view, with 3.6 mm and 6 mm options for tighter angles.

It performs well after dark and in difficult light.

Ultra-low-light imaging holds detail down to 0.003 Lux, 130 dB true WDR balances bright entrances against shadow so faces are not lost in glare, and 3D DNR keeps the picture clean.

EXIR 2.0 infrared lights the scene up to 30 m for clear night coverage; in infrared the image is black-and-white.

A vandal-resistant build makes it a solid choice for exposed positions.

Two notes so you install it correctly.

This is an analog Turbo HD camera, so it connects over coax to a DVR, not over the network to an NVR - make sure your DVR supports 5 MP Turbo HD input.

It runs on a 12 VDC supply and has no microphone or speaker.

The metal housing is IP67 against dust and heavy rain and IK10 against impact, so it suits eaves, entrances and walls in the Australian climate.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CE57H8T-VPITF

Upgrade without rewiring

It lifts an old analog system to 5 MP over the coax you already have, with no new network cabling.

Works with almost any DVR

A 4-in-1 TVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS output matches HD analog and older recorders alike.

Clear in difficult light

Ultra-low-light imaging, 130 dB WDR and 30 m EXIR keep faces visible at night and against glare.

Tough and weatherproof

An IP67, IK10 metal dome resists rain, dust and tampering on exposed walls.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Analog system upgrades

Replace ageing analog cameras with 5 MP detail on the existing cabling and DVR.

Homes and small business

Cover an entrance, driveway or shopfront with a tough HD dome.

Eaves and entrances

Mount under cover or on a wall where the IK10 housing resists knocks.

Mixed CCTV sites

Add HD cameras to a site that still runs older CVBS or HD analog recorders.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DS-2CE57H8T-VPITF 5MP Turbo HD dome camera with mounting hardware and documentation. The DVR, coaxial cabling, 12 VDC power supply and any junction box are supplied separately.

02

Installation requirements

Mount it on a wall, eave or ceiling over the area to cover and run coaxial cable to a Turbo HD DVR that supports 5 MP input. Provide 12 VDC power, set the output type (TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS) to match your DVR, and aim and focus the fixed lens for the view you want.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CE57H8T-VPITF

Q.01

Does the DS-2CE57H8T-VPITF connect to an NVR?

No. It is an analog Turbo HD camera, so it sends its video over the existing coaxial cable to a DVR, not over the network to an NVR. Make sure your DVR supports 5 MP Turbo HD input, and the camera will work as a straight high-definition upgrade on your current cabling.
Q.02

How far does the night vision reach?

It has EXIR 2.0 infrared up to 30 m, which suits driveways, entrances and small yards. In infrared the picture is black-and-white. Ultra-low-light imaging down to 0.003 Lux also keeps detail under existing street or security lighting.
Q.03

What does the 4-in-1 output mean?

The camera can output TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS, so it is compatible with almost any HD analog DVR and even older CVBS recorders. You switch the signal type to match your DVR, which makes it a flexible upgrade for a mixed or ageing system.
Q.04

Can I reuse my existing CCTV cables?

Yes, that is the point of it. It runs over the same coaxial cabling used by older analog cameras, so you can lift the picture to 5 MP high definition without pulling new network cable, as long as the coax run and your DVR support it.
Q.05

Is it tough enough for exposed positions?

Yes. The metal housing is rated IP67 against dust and heavy rain and IK10 against impact and tampering, so it stands up to weather and knocks on eaves, entrances and walls.
Q.06

Which lens should I choose?

The 2.8 mm lens gives a wide view for a general area, while the 3.6 mm and 6 mm options give a tighter, longer reach for a specific spot such as a gate or driveway. Choose the lens to match the distance and width you need to cover.
Q.07

How is it powered?

It runs on a 12 VDC supply, so power it from a 12 VDC adaptor or a CCTV power distribution box. It has no microphone or speaker, so it captures video only.
